I believed in the Edgewater location, it had all the makes of a great restaurant, the steaks, ambiance, and the views. Unfortunately, the real let down, and real reason I came here, was the steaks. The atmosphere was very nice, dark lit entry and dark brown wood as you enter the main seating area, large windows, the view of Manhattan and the water, amazing place to be sat. My girlfriend and I came here to try the steaks as they were recommended. I opted for the prime dry aged ribeye cooked medium, and my girlfriend the filet mignon, cooked medium well. As we waiting for our order we recieved warm bread and two spreads. The bread was soft, warm, and excellent. Paired with the two speads, one reminding me of the taste of cream cheese and the other a tomato base. Very good. We had cesar salads before our entrees which were good. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes which were fine as well and our steaks came in at the same time. Immediately, something felt off. I cut into my steak and while juicy, it was more medium well than medium. My girlfriend's filet was bloodier, as if medium. I didn't put two and two together untill later but I'm pretty sure our orders were reversed, not a big deal, however we were disappointed. I tried the first bite, waiting for that dry aged beef flavor to come and.....it never did. It was a very quick hit of beef and then nothing. I didn't really understand. Where was the flavor, where is the dry age beefyness? My girlfriend mentioned she could not taste anything. I explained it was most likely due to the cut being a filet but she mentioned everyone other steakhouse she has tasted, "something", there was nothing here. She wanted to ask for salt and pepper. As to not be too rude I said we probably shouldn't do that. Guys, its pretty bad if you have to have salt and pepper brought to your table. We continued to eat, off put by the flavor and wondering why the prices are comparable to other great steakhouses (River Palm Terrace and Rod's Steakhouse) but could not back the flavor profile? The filet ended up being more red in the center than the outside. Now, this is a problem. The foundation of a steakhouse is the steaks and if they are not properly cooked all the way through, then what is the point? I've had 44+ ounce potterhouses cooked to perfection where if they messed it up I would have forgiven them as that as a good amount to cook properly. My girlfriend asked to have the steak re-heated to which the waitress responded with, oh, you want a pink center? I understand that visualization helps here but if you can not be consistent with the way your steaks are cooked, you need to provide me with something, a graphic or anything, that points me in the direction of what Im going to get. The steak came back and was slightly more cooked. Pretty much just gave up here. Most places would heat up another steak, especially with this poor performance, but, we were not their to ruin evenings. We finished our steaks and we both decided to just take it as it is, a place we tired and will not be returning to. I am giving this a 2 star as the dessert, the chocolate lava cake was very good, took 25 minutes to make which we were warned about so we put the order in early. We appreciate the heads up and it was definitely worth it! No issues there. Just wish the steaks could be up to par and unfortunately, they very well miss the mark on taste profile and cooking preference.
If this was a Covid related issue and the steaks for example were frozen or kept elsewhere, whatever the case may be, I understand that is a difficult situation, one I'm not sure how I would tackle but please, do not serve those steaks...
Read moreIf I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars I would!! I was looking for a nice place to take my brother and my mom for their birthday and I came across Fleming’s. The pictures online don’t do the restaurant justice. The view is amazing. Since the moment we walked in we felt so welcomed. The man that works at the front was so polite and had a conversation with us until we arrived at our seats. He informed us our server Nick was great. Nick then arrived and greeted us and gave us all the menus. He was so well informed. We asked him to suggest some wine for our steaks and the one he recommended paired so well with our meal. He suggested the burrata with prosciutto for an appetizer and it was AMAZING. The steaks were so perfectly cooked. All the food was so well seasoned. Usually I have to add some salt or pepper to my meals at restaurants but not this time. Every single dish we tried was PERFECTION. We got the ribeye with lobster mac and cheese, creamed spinach, and mashed potato. My mom got a berry basil cocktail and it was delicious. Our server informed us the lava cake takes some time to make so we ordered it while we were eating our main entree. For dessert we ordered the lava cake and crème brûlée and my brother got a fruit salad with no cream due to his allergies. The desserts were so fresh and tasted so good. The lava cake was honestly the best we have ever had. The presentation and the cake and chocolate filling were so rich. The ice cream was really high quality as well. My mom got a cappuccino and the presentation was also very nice and had a very good flavor. They gave my mom and brother some cards that said happy birthday as well as some chocolates. Overall, the whole experience was amazing. We have tried various restaurants in edgewater and areas nearby but Fleming’s surpassed my expectations. The staff was so friendly and so helpful. Thank you to my server who made this night amazing. When we walked by all of the staff greeted us even though they weren’t our server. Everyone had such a great attitude and smiles. I will be returning again and will be recommending this restaurant to everyone I know. This is great establishment and I hope to have the same experience the next time I go. Thank you Fleming’s for an...
Read moreSo i did a search for high end steakhouses in NJ to take my sisters out for a family dinner. I wanted to have a nice view of Manhattan and a wonderful meal. I stumbled upon Fleming's and to say I was happy is a vast understatement. As soon as I entered the restaurant I was greeted with a friendly staff and told them I was early for my reservation because I came from Long Island and didn't want to be late. Well on top of being so friendly they saw I requested a window table so I could have a view of Manhattan. Serena Sanchez was the restaurant manager and came over to the bar where we were sitting and enjoying a cocktail while waiting for my family members to arrive. She wanted to know if I would like to see the tables they had and if i would like to choose before the restaurant got busier. I thought that was amazing and she showed me an excellent table . Now I was more than 45 minutes early and she said I could wait at the bar or I could sit at the table if that was more comfortable. I was honestly blown away by the level of service she was providing my wife and I . It was very refreshing to be treated with such care and concern for our dining experience. So our waiter comes over and introduces himself to us and his name is Sergio. Well he was the most cordial and attentive waiter I had the pleasure to be on the receiving end of. He took care of every aspect of our meal and knew when to come back to check on our needs at the exact moment we needed him. The drinks were always perfect the food came out perfect, steaks were done exactly to the temperature everyone wanted, how they do that is a mystery to me. I have been to many steakhouse and Flemings is right up there with all my favorites that I have gone to , and my wife and I go out to dinner very frequently. The sides were also wonderful with the Flemings potatoes being a huge hit. Oysters were on point along with everything we ordered. Thank you again to Flemings and the whole staff, we will be coming back very very soon.
P.S I greatly appreciate that I was able to keep my hat on, without going into detail why, lets just say that meant a lot to me.
Thanks...
