I find this incredibly sad to have to write this but I would hate for someone else to have the same experience as we did. By looking at the pictures and other reviews we thought that this would be a good enough stay. When we arrived the lobby smelled and looked promising. The person at the front desk was nice. As soon as we rolled to the hall where the elevator was located there was a sign saying it was out of order. And by the looks of said sign it had been there for awhile. The indoor pool looked like a nice area but the pool was cloudy and there was green and brown standing water all around. The open pool area was warm and humid which is to be expected but it also had a stale mildew smell. That’s what I think we found odd about this stay. Never once did we smell your staple chlorine and/or bleach hotel smell if that makes sense? When we got to our room the smell was not good. It was as if someone had just cooked a heavily seasoned four course dinner before arrived. Yet no food was visible. It just never went away. The air was stale and muggy. The bathroom had hair on the floor and shower. The walls. Everywhere. The counter had used makeup wrappers behind the faucet and the the shower had a used soap wrapper stuck in the drain. All hinting that nothing had been cleaned well. The showers curtain was stained. The ceiling was rusty. The door frame was stained with dirt. There were smudges everywhere. All over the walls and doors. I told myself it was paint but I don’t know if that was true. The tv channel selection was impressive. But no HBO as advertised. Our microwave was plugged in and didn’t work. Which was disappointing when trying to make a bag of popcorn to try and cancel out some of the interesting smell. The windows were covered in a mossy dirty film on the outside so they were difficult to see out of. And I get it. We’re in the woods. Dirt happens. But when I saw the bottom of my kids feet. That’s what did me in. They were thick in muck. Mind you. We had been driving all day. We had not done one bit of exploring. This was from walking around in the room with our shoes off. Our socks were filthy. Which caused me to look at the carpets. You could tell where furniture had been moved around and there was a night and day difference in color. And the darker is what we were all walking on. We stayed for the night. We were exhausted. But we were glad to leave first thing in the morning. Again. I hate to have to leave this type of review. I’m sure it’s very hard to oversee an entire hotel. And each individual room. It’s a...
Read moreWe chose this hotel specifically because we wanted to bring our dog for a weekend trip and the hotel advertised that they accepted pets. I called prior to making our reservation to verify that bringing the dog would be okay and was advised that we could have a dog in an outside room with no problem, just no pets in the inside rooms and there would be a $10 charge per night. I booked one of the outside rooms and told the front desk attendant upon checkin that I had a dog so he knew to charge me the extra $10, which he did. The following morning our family went to the breakfast room to take advantage of the complimentary breakfast but there was only 5 or 6 tables in the dining room so there was nowhere to sit. We decided to hop in the car and drive to a local breakfast restaurant 1/2 mile up the road. After sitting down at the restaurant and getting my coffe I get a phone call from the hotel to let me know that they received a complaint about a dog barking in my room and they needed me to do something about it. I told her that we had advised them at check in that we had brought a dog, I paid to bring a dog and he was in a kennel inside the room so I wasn’t sure why she was calling me to complain about a dog in my room. The attendant then proceeds to tell me that the hotel does allow dogs, but they can’t have them barking. If you are planning a trip with a dog you either need to find another hotel that won’t harass you when you leave your dog in the room or make sure that you have a shock collar to keep the dog from barking because this hotel only accepts non-barking dogs apparently. I would suggest that the management of this property make the decision to either stop allowing pets (and stop charging an extra $10 per night for the pet) or to come to the realization that dogs do bark, because they can’t have...
Read moreThis place is a JOKE!!! First off on the phone the girl couldn't tell me any info that I was inquiring about! I asked for someone who had better knowledge and she kept saying there was no one else available! Second I got a roll away bed and was quoted $5 per night extra, so I said that was fine, upon my arrival I was charged $10 per night extra when I asked about this I was told they have never been $5 per night. I was told I could talk with a manager that was never available!!! Third, we get home and I receive a phone call that we and I quote" have stolen 4 pillows!!!" Are you kidding me??? I in no way need pillows from a hotel that countless people have slept on, also the person calling was extremely rude, and ended up hanging up on me!!! Do not absolute stay at this hotel!! The workers all live on site and it's sketchy from the git go! Also on the night was supposed to be arriving was called and asked if I needed a pet room(which I did) but told them I didn't want to stay in a room that smelled like pets, he assured me this would not happen, and you guessed it unsatisfactory for my standards!!! We didn't have towels upon arrival I had to ask for them to be brought and the tv wouldn't work when we arrived!! It was by far the worst stay at a Super 8 EVER!!! Breakfast was a joke with only eggs, sausage, and biscuits, cereal and toast!! The whole point of staying here was to avoid restraunt prices for food and we are now out that as well!! Family of 5 counts on these things to have a good vacation and Super 8 did NOT deliver!!! I wouldn't even rate this place a 1!!! Customer service 0, Cleanliness 0, and Overall satisfaction...
