This was probably one of the more relaxing vacations we have had as a couple in many years. I had read a few reviews prior to booking our stay here and noticed that all the 1-star reviews were from people who had never stayed here before and were cross that they couldn't bring their kids! This is NOT a kid friendly set up. The interior is so well thought out and high-quality workmanship that all it would take is one family with kids to ruin it all and cost the owners a fortune to repair. The set up on the exterior would be too tempting for kids to not want to explore and climb around on and it is so quiet here. We had wildlife coming every morning and evening to our spot and had there been noisy kiddos running around, this would not have been happening. When I say a lot of time and thought went into the planning of this place, I cannot stress it enough. This place is for couples/adults. This is not for families with children. Those of us staying here are wanting to be on a relaxing vacation without our kids. There are plenty of places you can take your kids to that even have a pool so why a family would want to come here instead of a spot with a pool is beyond my level of comprehension. People hate being told they can't do stuff. I get it. But grow up. Don't be silly. This is not for children to enjoy. This is for adults. Moving on to the review:
We chose to stay last minute in the Hobbit Cave #19 and absolutely loved it. You have your own parking space then a short walk to your own little "cave" that is set to look as though it is "underground". We walked in and immediately noticed the small inset that contained a welcome basket with a handwritten note and a jacuzzi that had a lovely little "Happy Anniversary" banner. We were celebrating our Anniversary a few months late and it was nice to have it acknowledged. Walking around the corners and halls, we noted every little detail. There are cave drawings on the "mud walls" in the bathroom. Small details such as this that just made the entire experience. The bed was super comfy, and I am usually a pillow/mattress snob and hate them all! They make sure they give you each a thick pillow and a thin pillow, so everyone is covered. When we arrived, there was music playing and it just totally overwhelmed us that the room was fresh, cool, and serene. Dark, like a cave. There was a coffee bar with everything you would need for coffee service and a few plates and cups/silverware. We sat on our patio every morning with our coffee in our pj's and watched the antics of several squirrels. There was an ample size fridge. We happen to have this same fridge at our pool bar and were tickled pink! The freezer was large enough to hold our ice chest /gel freezer bags and even had 2 small ice trays frozen and ready for us to use. The refrigerator is not a small dorm size that you would usually see in a hotel room. It is about twice the size. There is also a microwave and a kitchen sink with dishwashing soap, rag and dry towel. Everything is thought of by the owners. The closet is roomy, with hangers and several shelves to set your luggage/shoes and purchases from in town. One thing that we were really impressed with is how the owners thought to block out the sun. As curtains would ruin the "Hobbit Vibe", they had exterior shutters that we would pull to at night and make our little cave dark and cozy. In the late afternoon, around 6 pm every night, we were visited by a mother deer and her twins. They were as large as she was.
While we were there, we noticed there was a wedding in the tiny chapel. The set up for the wedding with the waterfall backdrop was absolutely gorgeous. Not a lot of decorations would be needed. It is a small chapel, so not for a large wedding, but we were blown away again at the thought that went into the design and landscaping of this glass chapel.
There was so much thought put into this location. I can't wait to stay at a different castle/cave/treehouse...
Read moreI originally booked this place unsure of what to expect, they just happened to have my exact dates open for one of their rooms. I went with the hobbit cave. This was a vacation for my 8th anniversary with my girlfriend, and I knew I was going to propose. They offered a proposal package, and did not have any pictures except one for what to expect. ||To start, they were fantastic with communications and instructions on both the room and proposal. ||When we arrived at our room neither of us knew what to expect, she specifically had no clue what I had even booked. ||We were stunned. It was so cute, cozy and romantic. The cave was so nice that we didn't want to leave for our activities, we had multiple moments where things we had already paid to be at we said "forget it" and stayed in our cave watching cable in our Jacuzzi.||Speaking of Jacuzzi, I am a LARGE man and I have never once in my life fit in a tub, but we both fit comfortably in the Jacuzzi. Absolute life changer right there.||They also knew it was our anniversary and set up a little basket of snacks for us with a card wishing us a good anniversary, then a banner above the Jacuzzi that said happy anniversary. ||Then the proposal came on our second night. ||Let me tell y'all something, putting that much faith in people to do a setup for a once in a lifetime moment is absolutely terrifying, but with these people, it does not need to be. They made it feel easy.||Alas, the time came, and I walked out with my girlfriend, and we walked to this beautiful little chapel right near our cave they had glowing with orange candle light through its frosted windows, and I opened the door.||Needless to say we both were in tears at how lovely it was, it was magical, it was intimate and completely private, yet somehow it made us feel like the world revolved around us in that moment. ||I cannot thank the owners and their workers enough for making it so perfect, her and I both will never forget it. |||We look forward to future stays,||Thank you again,||The newly, soon to be,...
Read moreThis place was amazing! From checking you you are handed your very own gate opener and key to your room! The treehouses, caves and castles are behind a gated entry that only current residents have access too which makes it even more private! Upon entering our treehouse we were blown away with the thoughtfulness and care of our arrival! We got the 'a soldiers welcome home' package as my husband just returned from a deployment and there was soft music playing in the background, cake and bubbly waiting for us with ribbons surrounding the jacuzzi with a welcome home banner above! Laying on the jacuzzi itself was a basket full of scrubbers, massagers, bath soap and oil for the time in the jacuzzi! If that wasn't enough there was another basket waiting on the counter with a handwritten letter from the manager welcoming us and snacks to enjoy while we were there! There are 2 sets of glassware for eating in and having coffee! They have a microwave, fridge and a countertop drying rack for cleaning it all afterwards! The hot water here is HOTTTT and stays hot no matter how long you run it, so it made the jacuzzi actually feel amazing especially after all day mountain biking on the ozark mountains!! The location of this place is gorgeous, though you can see the next treehouse we never once heard our neighbors nor see them off our balcony on the back! This is a no kid vacation spot which is absolutely perfect for the moms and dads who want to get away! Because we all know when mom and dad get away the last thing we want to hear is someone elses kid throwing a fit or screaming (we have 3 kids)! We will definitely be coming back again for some much needed RnR! Thank you so much for having us as we have enjoyed every minute of your breathtaking views,...
