How is this 3.9 on Google? Have people even stayed at the hotel? It is terrible. I do not recommend, and I'll breakdown my experience (4 nights with 2 rooms) into a few sections:
The Rooms: The room was decent though it was lacking some of the basic hotel standards of the 21st century. Primarily, a mini fridge was 'upon request only'. The rooms appear to have been updated in the last 10 or so year so they were 'okay'. This is the only reason this is an overall 2-start review and not less. We had 1 smoking room and 1 non-smoking room. Our preference would have been 2 non-smoking, but somehow this place was overbooked (I don't know how).
The Hotel: Wow, the carpets are so bad. I'd speculate that they have not been replaced since the original install in the mid-90s when it was Casino Aztar. So much wear and tear, not to mention the stains! Next, let's talk about the elevators. It is pretty sad that you have to wait 30+ minutes for one of the three elevators to get up to the 6th floor when checking out on a Sunday. No free breakfast. Wi-Fi is a joke. The workout facility only has a few treadmills. The price of the room was not any cheaper than the Double Tree down the street. The card entry system is so bad that in the 4 nights we stayed, the key did not work on 3 separate occasions. After the third time, it was suggested that I was to blame that the key was no longer working.
The Casino: Small but generally newer and cleaner than the hotel. And as with most casino experiences the smoke is overwhelming. They do have a Non-Smoking section towards the back. But there are two things wrong with this. First, you have to go through a football field cloud of smoke to get there. And secondly, there are still people smoking in those sections. There are no Vegas-Style free drinks or waitstaff checking on patrons. The tables aren't cheap with a minimum $25 bet for blackjack. Most evenings, these tables were empty entirely. This is Evansville, IN! Add a $5 or even $10 minimum table to the rotation and you might see some action.
The Garage: You may be asking (why review the garage)? It is mismanaged. It is free to park and as a result you see an absurd amount of trash. I am guessing it might be the single largest pollutant to the Ohio river.
The good (possibly): Bally's just took over this property with the press release on 06/04/2021 and it is just over a year since the buyout. It is possible that the investment is still in the early stages of revitalization and some improvements are in the works. But, as of now, other than the branding, not much has been done.
Overall, terrible experience and not worth the money. I may try again in a few years after some of Bally's improvements, but until then, I do...
Read moreI'm giving a 4 star based on the fact I only experienced the casino area every time I have been at Bally's so far. I've never had to use to check into the hotel so I can only review my experiences as a casino customer. First off, I love the fact that the entrance area feels more secure for you, or really anyone (especially us women) to travel alone. The parking is close to the hotel & the airport in general. That in itself makes it less stressful. It's mainly an entertainment complex located on the scenic banks of the Ohio River River front property in Evansville, Indiana. It has a fairly large sized casino on the lower floor just inside the main entrance of the parking garage. (That is the popular single-level 24-hour casino that encompasses 45,000 square feet of gaming space featuring 1,175 slot games, over 30 table games, a poker room, and a High Limit Room). Location overall is great, within walking distance of several bar & grills. Not to mention, if you are traveling in to Evansville for an event at the Ford Center, this establishment is only 10 minutes away. There's also a great bar & grill inside the casino with decent food selections for this kind of establishment. They offer a great selection of alcohol, along with free fountain soft drinks. I like the convenience of the location, and that local guests, or return guests have the opportunity to sign up for a Bally's physical membership card for use in the casino area that you can set a pin number up for (keeps your money safe) and this enables you to have access to exclusive offers and ability to recieve great updates and potential savings.
*[Other things Bally's has to offer its guests: Other recreational opportunities include fitness center, nightclub. The hotel that includes free wireless Internet access, and gift shops, Temptations Buffet with a coffee shop and other restaurants, the ability to catch a rides on the complimentary shuttle, which operates within a 3 mile radius if need be. It has a bar / lounge area for breaks, which includes beverage availability. A business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and even laundry services. A 243-room hotel tower and a 95-room hotel that have coffeemakers, complimentary bottled water,...
Read moreI'm not sure if my expectations were unrealistic, but I thought that a hotel room at Big Name Casino (Bally's Casino) would be better. No complaints about the cleanliness, that was fine, although I did not "inspect" the room. It was the size, the room had two queen beds, that's how we like it, one for me, one for my wife. There was a very small TV on a table, and one chair. No microwave, no fridge. There was a gap between the beds, maybe 3.5'. The clearance between "my" bed and the wall, 1.5' and between the other bed and wall, maybe 4'. It made the room very claustrophobic. The bathroom, though lit well enough, felt cramped. The sink water pressure was OK, but you really had to adjust it so it wouldn't splash on your clothes. The shower head was so calcified that the water went where it wanted and adjusting the temp, it was either warm or cold, so taking a shower was an adventure.
We live 25 miles from the hotel and only got the room for one night because we both wanted to have drinks and not drive. Honestly, had I known what the room would be like, I would have not drank and just went home after the company party. $135.00 (approximately)
The view of the river was decent, however; sound proofing the windows would be awesome. We could hear people on the street talking from our third floor room. Also, the number of idiots who enjoy revving their motors was astonishing.
I've stayed in Motel 6's with better rooms.
Just an FYI, if you plan on visiting Evansville, IN. for the sole purpose of going to the Casino, budget accordingly. I later found out that there are "better" rooms available, but they are more costly.
Also, unless you're chauffeured to the Casino, plan on driving around and around the parking garage to find a place to park. During our visit, the first 2 or 3 levels were under some sort of construction, so the other levels were absolutely packed.
Suggestion: Find a nearby hotel, get a taxi or Uber to take to and...
