There is hand written sign that states they aren't a fast but good food place to eat, taped to the counter where you order and pay for your purchase. Dont let that sign fool you. Despite each order being cooked to order, it doesn't take long to get you food there. It is worth every second you wait. The owner is there every day working as fast and hard as anyone should ever expect from any over achiever like he and his wife are. He takes his heart and soul and combines with his Louisiana childhood style of cooking. There are tables, and a counter to eat inside. He also has outside seating for beautiful sunny days just feet away from the Ohio River. His current location is small. He has added a salad bar. You won't find a better boneless Catfish sandwich anywhere. I've eaten my share of fiddlers fresh from a private lake, family and friends fish fries for a couple hundred people, and too many restaurants and churches to mention. I've never had a non-greasy, humongous, more expertly cooke piece of corn meal breaded Catfish anywhere. He makes his own Tarter Sauce that has a Cajun kick to it that is delicious. His onion rings, shrimp, chicken strips, fine quality burgers, and much more are just as good. He uses the larger size buns that are not even half the size of fish itself. I am a true foodie and I believe that if someone else's food impresses me, other people will agree. The prices are shockingly affordable. How the owner can afford to sell such high quality food at such good prices is a not something I plan to ask him. Living on a fixed income, I can afford to treat myself and my teenage grandsons who love to eat there. Like most boys their age, they are picky eaters, especially for someone who eats a lot of food. Yet, the serving sizes are more than than they can eat. I simply cannot speak higher about Major Munch as a restaurant, the owner, and his food. I will say that at some point I hope he can afford to remodel, but with the food and service I get, it's clean, and the food is what really matters most to me. I hope my comments lead more hungry people to eat there, and enjoy the food as...
Read moreAnother Meh place to add to the list of restaurants in Evansville. As other reviewers mentioned, the tables were mostly dirty, I did my best to clean the table for my kids and I, and the furniture could definitely be upgraded (some booths had huge cracks, tears, holes, etc). No salad bar available as there was nothing in the salad station, and, again as many reviewers had noted, there was only about half the soft drinks available with the others being out. The burger was more of a smashed burger, the kind that Steak and Shake would serve, where they just smash the patty down and make it a pancake, and was very greasy. The fries were very underwhelming, mushy with little to no taste to them. The young man working behind the counter was very nice and the young woman that was calling out and running out the orders seemed very knowledgable. Seems to be a family run business, which I like to support which is why I am giving it a 3 stars. Price wasn't horrible, about $24 for my kids and I to eat at. Overall, don't go in expecting too much and you won't be disappointed. Will probably go back at some point, but will not be in a...
Read more( See update at bottom of the original review) Have been coming to Major Munch for a long time. Always posted good things about them. But today not so much. The owner David Wesley Siewert and his wife were both extremely rude. I wanted my 2 catfish sandwiches on hoggie buns. I was told no, you can't have them. I offered to pay extra, they said they were only for the Philly's and if I don't like it don't come back. So I won't be. ( 10/31/2024 UPDATE) It's been 7 years since I was told, as a regular, paying customer. "No you can't have it, no you can't buy them, and if you don't like it, don't come back" by the owner himself. Well, guess what, I have not stepped foot, not one single time in 7 years into Major Munch. So you see, Mr Siewert, the things you say, and the way you treat your customers, does have a lasting and financial effect. And my review...
