Summary: Stayed here twice recently. Clean old room but noisy. Bring your ear plugs. Would not recommend if you want to sleep or just watch TV before 10pm.
Details: At my most recent stay yesterday I had to check out only hours after checking in because a neighbor insisted on playing their portable stereo with an impressive sub-woofer. I own one. They are awesome, but using one in a hotel is like bringing a jet ski to a hot tub party.
I turned up my TV but even at high levels it failed to offset the wall thumping bass. Thought of running out and buying ear plugs, and that might have allowed me to sleep, but it would also prevent me from enjoying listening to my TV, computer, or phone. Called office twice. Staff asked neighbor to 'turn it down' but didn't follow up to ensure the resulting sound level was reasonable. And it wasn't. Not wanting to risk a sleepless night I decided I had to find a different hotel. I stopped by the office to drop off keys and was told that staff couldn't do anything about unreasonable noise before 10pm. There was an apology that felt more like a 'not my problem'. No attempt to ask that the personal stereo (or sub woofer) be turned off. No offer to relocate me or the noisy neighbor (or explanation as to why they couldn't). No assurance that the problem would cease after 10pm. Clearly, the risk was on me.
As I drove from they property I wondered how staff would react if someone ceaselessly knocked on their office door or windows till 10pm? I have little doubt they'd have demanded I stop and eventually called the police if it didn't.
In my recent experiences, BW properties seem quite tired but are clean. You expect to pay a little less than the newer and even cleaner competition. IMO, its the quality of the Staff that makes this value proposition work. I'm willing to risk a budget hotel if I know that Staff cares. BW Fallon was tested and its staff failed to demonstrate they care. Rather than risk inconveniencing a disruptive customer they chose to avoid confrontation and inconvenience another... which makes no sense. I can only assume the neighbor was a long time resident or personal friend.
No more Best Western for me...
Response to Hotel's reply on 9/29/21: I seriously doubt anyone left the office to inspect anything. I was watching and waiting and didn't see anyone walking the property. When I left you didn't mention that anyone physically inspected the noise but hadn't heard anything. You simply stated that you'd called the neighbor twice and asked that they turn the music down. When I asked you to come to the room with me to confirm the noise level I was told that you couldn't leave the office or do anything about it till after 10pm. I will add that when I returned with a staff person about an hour later to retrieve my pillow the music was...
Read moreYou are likely using this hotel due to its location. Fallon, Nevada does not have a plethora of things to do. For me personally, I was using it as a pass through on my drive cross country. $195 for the total price is a little steep. You might be better off staying in reno as they have casinos in their hotels and therefore tend to be cheaper because they'd rather you spend your money gambling. I will say for me though, it shaved off 30 extra minutes of dessert driving the next day, was it worth the cost? Maybe.
The rooms were nice, heating (which I shockingly did need, February in Nevada, who knew!) Worked great and there was very little outside noise.
Moderate breakfast with eggs, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, etc. Eggs had pepper in them so....ugh, hate that, leave them unflavored and let your guests flavor them!
Tv...no guide on tv to see what was playing, just a laminated sheet with channels, but listed alphabetically, not chronologically, very difficult to navigate/find something to watch.
Pet friendly (you'll see that in most of my reviews because I'm traveling almost always with a pet) with a little dog relief area which I always appreciate as it is shocking how many "pet friendly" hotels have NONE.
The computer was down when I arrived. Now because I am a premier member, they already had my info and I was able to check in early. Apparently, if you aren't, you had to wait to be checked in which I can imagine sucks. I had to come back down to the front desk to sign the paperwork (car info, pet agreement etc) - however they forgot to call me later when the computer was up and running again. The next morning upon check out they had to chase me down as I was leaving, to sign the paperwork. This is not really in their control, but it needs to be mentioned. I did not deduct a star for this, but did deduct for the cost compared to what complaints, though minimal, I had.
Would still stay again, front desk staff was incredibly...
Read moreWe stayed for one night as we were passing through Fallon on our way home from a trip.
The room was clean for the most part, other than the fact the floors made our shower fresh feet dirty, but we were disappointed in the fact that the bed was saggy-we rolled into each other all night-the pillows were really stiff, the internet tv wasn’t working, and the floors were dirty enough that our shower fresh feet were dirty before we could get fully dressed.
We also felt like the breakfast wasn’t up to par for other Best Westerns and got our food elsewhere. It seemed very carb-heavy without much warm food, which is why we passed.
The cost of this room and the pictures online made us believe we would be getting something nicer-it was almost the same price we paid for a room in a really nice Mammoth, CA resort a few nights earlier. In reality, this room was basically an old motel 6 renovated to be a Best Western-which would be fine, if the price reflected that. This wouldn’t keep me from booking a room here again if needed, but throwing a couch in a room and calling it a suite isn’t what we expected.
Also, it seemed like other rooms were given water bottles-were we supposed to...
