The normal property I stay in the area was booked, so I looked at the next closest property that was available, which was the Farmington Hills Courtyard Marriott. It was only a few miles away, and well priced, so I booked this without hesitation, as I knew the Courtyard experience would be fine. I looked at other brands, and for the price, this was the best choice.
Arrival experience was extremely pleasant; I was welcomed warmly, using the pre-check-in app, I was given my key and ready to go to my room. As I was driving a PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle) I asked about a charger at the hotel, knowing Courtyard would most likely have one. Indeed it did, and there was no charge for using it. (Unlike other chain hotel brands where there is.) I later drove around the neighboring new hotel across the street and did not see any EV chargers over there.
That night I relaxed in the room for a short bit but realized it was late, and I should eat something. Not knowing where I would go, I headed downstairs and decided to take a look at what the Bistro had to offer. After an 8-plus hour drive, I did not want to go driving around looking for something at a late hour. The staff again was friendly and very much looking to help me. I ordered something healthy and was surprised when it came out quickly, was delicious (OK I was hungry) and fit what I wanted. I did not have to drive any further.
I also stopped in for breakfast the following morning, as the experience was so nice the night before. And used the little convenience store for a few snacks while staying at the hotel.
The room was large and well maintained, the bathroom had a very modern designed shower, with a water handle that you did not have to get wet (or scald yourself when turning it on) large and comfortable bathroom was nice. If I were traveling with someone else, two people could get ready easily in this space.
Base internet in the hotel worked flawlessly and was easy to connect to. So I could get some work done while staying here.
Took a moment to enjoy the hot tub and sit outside on the patio (the patio could have used a little bit of clean up, especially under the sofa cushions. and there were skittles on the floor of the pool area.) At night the firepit was lit, which made this area nice if you wanted to escape from your room and enjoy the property.
Check out was easy and simple and I...
Read moreI have never been so disrespected by a worker of the service industry in my entire life! This front desk lady who was by herself (in the mornings) pretty much the whole weekend during my stay in this hotel.
We were there for a hockey tournament, the following morning I needed to talk to someone at the front desk which was unattended for almost 20 min. so I decided to leave and call from my car. When I called, I was trying to explain the issue when I noticed she was getting very irritated to the point that she got very frustrated then she started yelling at me and just hung up on me..
I tried to call her back many times with no answer. The next morning I saw her again and I tried to talk to her in a calmed way to figure out why she reacted that way on the phone. There she was again, with a extremely rude attitude, she interrupted me and put her hand close to my face to tell me:
If you have any complaints just call the hotel manager! I don't need to talk to you! I could not believe how disrespectful she was..
I actually asked her why the attitude towards me? I told her that she was supposed to be a customer service oriented employee and I was a customer trying to solve and issue.
She just stopped talking to me, not even looking at me. When I asked for her name, she wouldn't respond to me. Until I said to her, Can I please have your name? I need it since I will send a formal complaint to management.
She had the audacity to give me a fake name (Sara). I know this because when I explained the situation to a very nice lady at the front desk the following morning, she identified her and told me her real name was Stella. She also shared that other 7 guests had complained about her that week.. I am a business owner myself and to be fair, I would,ve given this hotel 4 stars because all the other employees I interacted with were very nice and helpful. But it is the responsibility of the management to identify a rotten apple and do something about it.
Watch out management of Courtyard by Marriott. You have one there! Her...
Read moreI reserved two rooms, check-in was quick and professional….absolutely the best. Much loves to the front desk!||When we got into our room, the temp was 80degrees (27 to my euro friends). I turned the AC on, unpacked…..went downstairs to un-stress from travel. ||After I went back up, the room was still 80….switching from 81, back to 80. My daughter who was in our other room, complained about it. I told her it sometimes takes a bit. She told me their room was 80, she turned on the AC to 72 and it kicked on immediately. She started looking at my AC controller, and realized that the filter needed to be changed. She went downstairs and asked for another room for me.||The desk said they were booked solid, but would call the mgr, fast forward…..my daughter came back upstairs with new keys to my new room. Like I said, kudos to those peeps at the front desk! So friendly! They deserve a raise!||Moved into the new room……noticed the shower was leaking……and there were black foot prints in the shower(with chunks of dirt)……||BUT! The second I turned the temp down to 72, it kicked in immediately! So dirt chunks in my shower, when I had my daughters room available. No big deal.||We arrived on a Saturday, leaving on a Monday. So my only other issue was the trash. Thetrash, outside, in the lobby, on the floors that we had……were never emptied. Meaning, over-flowing. That second day…..it was really bad. We all work in customer service, so we actually started making jokes about it…..but it wasn’t good, and something I would never expect from a Marriott.||They do have an awesome barista at their Starbucks in the lobby. My son said it was the best strawberry pancakes he...
