Just like most of these recent reviews, we too are here bc of the power outage. Hotel is fairly new. If you’re looking for a pet friendly, family friendly, or even a quiet, clean place to stay this is a no brainer. Solid built hotel with enough concrete to stop all of the noise from outside as well as your fellow hotel guests. Having been hit with 2 major storms in this area in just a little over a weeks time, this place has done a phenomenal job keeping this place running. They’ve done an excellent job keeping this place clean. They have done a fantastic job accommodating their guests. They are one of the few that haven’t hiked up their nightly rate to cash in on their community, that is coping with a lot.
Now onto some perks. These rooms are pretty awesome. High ceilings, studio style with an actual kitchen. 2 burner stove, full size fridge, microwave, garbage disposal, (comes in handy when you have kids don’t knock it lol) dishes, complete with pots, pans, knifes, cooking utensils, silverware, everyday dishes (plates, bowls, cups, mugs), toaster, coffee maker, new mini salt and pepper shakers too, and my fav a DISHWASHER!! Rooms also have an iron and ironing board. The bathroom is fully stocked too with full size bottles of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Shower head is adjustable 4 different styles of water pressure. 42” tv on a stand that is able to turn towards the bed or living room area. King size bed. Pullout couch and a full desk for working ppl. Digital thermostat, I know some would say who cares, but a lot of hotels you have to continuously adjust the temp throughout your stay. Not one problem with it being too hot or too cold. No in room noisy radiator in the room either. Room has plenty of storage as well. Breakfast included, with many options. The super nice woman (with 5 kids) who was working this morning was incredibly sweet and super accommodating making sure we had what we needed. Little things like that make a difference when you’re away from home with your children. Front desk staff are polite, and helpful. They made this process easier for us. Im sure they are stretched thin with having this place fully booked for almost 2 weeks now bc of the weather. I could go on and on we are grateful for our positive experience here. A pool, fitness center, outside bbq grill for warmer weather, laundry room, mini store, grocery service available as well. Ohh don’t forget...
Read moreI spent four weeks here at the Residence Inn in Farmington Hills, from September 26. 2022 to October 22, 2022. ||Overall the room was comfortable, the queen sized bed was comfortable, did like the kitchen area where I can head out to Kroger and Heartland Markets to buy groceries instead of relying of going out to restaurants every day. ||Was able to use the desk area to setup my workspace where I was able to do some work. |Utilized both the fitness centers (didn't anticipate I was doing my workouts using the treadmill four days per week! Plus utilized the weights in my workouts) as well as the laundry facilities once per week (NOTE: Bring quarters to use the laundry facilities, it's $1.75 to use the washer and $1.50 to use the dryer. You could get quarters from the front desk or get rolls of quarters at the Chase bank that's across the street) ||They do have a 'Market' where you can buy bottled water and snacks, however it's more cost effective to just go to the Heartland Market that's nearby to buy such items.||Only one negative - the frequency on my room being cleaned by housekeeping. Granted I was working in my suite during the regular work week, however housekeeping only cleaned my room once on Saturday (in which the replaced the bedsheets, towels and cleaned out the garbage cans) during the four weeks I was there. When I brought this to the attention to the front desk I was told housekeeping will come clean my room, however when I came back after being out for several hours they only emptied the garbage cans and replaced the towels.||Parking was no issue - parking is free and is outside in front and in the back of the hotel. I did observe that some people were parking their cars at the nearby Holiday Inn or Courtyard by Marriott. ||Would I come back to the Residence Inn for another long stay...yes...it was nice experience 'living' in Farmington Hills, Michigan in a...

Extremely disappointed by this property - A multi million dollar new property with no staff to maintain it or to provide guest services... OK for business visitors but TOTALLY unsuitable for families ; for seniors ; and for the handicapped. NO closets or storage in room. Don't believe any superlative reviews of this disastrous property ... Kitchen and room appliances that don't work - uncomfortable beds .. Uncaring and unresponsive hotel management - Booked a six night stay but was assigned a handicap room without any explanation. Left after one night ...Will not be back. Note to parents - No privacy doors on bedrooms -
Would NOT stay in this property even if given a free room - This property is located in the best suburban area of Detroit - but it should be called "The mistake by orchard lake" - buyer beware - Outward appearance is great but how is this property is run down after less than 1 year?.... Designed for Business travelers only... Is this really the best that Detroit has to offer????? Definitely NOT - Given that the Detroit area continues to be in economic decline for decades due to the poor performance of the US auto industry- this property is a shining example of why the Detroit area continues to decline - The dream of a new and prosperous Detroit contrasts sharply with the grim reality of corporate greed and unconcern. Marriott has failed badly on this property despite its pleasant outward appearance... A property must be functional for more than business travelers...
As the sayings goes, it is indeed Detroit versus the World. I will NOT support or visit this mistake by orchard...
