My husband and I love to travel. This was our first experience at a Choice Hotel, however, we will not be staying in a Rodeway Inn or another Choice Hotel if we can help it in the future. I booked a Smoking Room, Kitchen, Microwave and Refrigerator, HBO, Table and Chairs for two nights. Upon arrival on Friday night. the desk clerk said she wanted to put us in another room without a kitchen. When I said "no, we'd like this room please", she rolled her eyes and said "well the ones with kitchen smell like cooking, I don't know if you want that". I asked if they could clean it and she said, "no, its how it is" When I asked if they would discount our room because we were being given a "downgrade" from what we wanted, she said no, it will be the same price with or without the kitchen. I told her I wanted the room I booked if I wasn't getting a discount. She again argued with me again telling me people complain it smells like cooking. Since my husband and I had driven a long way and were tired I finally gave in and told her just to give me a room so I could take a shower and relax. She gave us a queen sized room, which was dirty (papers, behind the nightstand, a peeling ceiling, hair in the bathtub drain and all along the corners of the bathroom) but since she had given us such a hard time about the room, we didn't want to deal with her again. We decided we would ask the next night to be moved to a different room. The next night, we came back from a day of shopping and my husband was standing outside our room smoking a cigarette. A drunken man started to urinate on our doorstep. When my husband told him he couldn't do that there, the man tried pushing past my husband to get in to our room. My husband shoved him out and slammed our door. We called the front desk because the man was now pounding on our door & window and yelling he was going to beat my husband's "a _ _". When the desk clerk answered, I told him what was going on and to call the police. He said, well maybe the man will go away in a minute! I was furious. I called 911 myself and the police came. While the police were still there, my husband and I packed our things and went to the front desk. We told the gentleman we wanted a refund for the evening and were going to another hotel. He refused to give us a refund and kept offering us another room. He also told us the guy probably wouldn't come back and that I was just being scared for nothing. We left and went to the Hampton Inn just across I-75 where we were greeted warmly and even given a discount on our room because we told the manager what had just happened at Rodeway. I am not impressed at all with the service, condition of our room or the way were were treated by this Choice...
Read moreCame on a business trip with the family, chose this motel, because it was cheaper then most in this area, and we where going to have to be in town for a few months, plus it was closer to the job site, but I guess you get what you pay for right? There were three of us to a two bedroom suit, and they only gave us enough towels for one person the entire time, so we had to buy our owe towels, as if we wanted their dangy towels in the first place. Then we had to constantly go get our own toilet paper, and they wanted to complain so we finally had to purchase our own, just as we did with the towels. Then the last night of our stay, the manager came into our room, asking we don't use too much toilet paper please, because people are complaining, remind you we didn't have no problem with it until him and his plumber came into the room messing with it, and they just would barge in without even knocking. Then without any notice they turned the water off, no explanation or bother to offer us another room, we had to basically struggle to use the bathroom, until our neighbor let us use his bathroom (a co-worker). We never heard anything from them. I guess we should've known better about this place, cause several rooms down, there were people going in and out of that room, and there was a incident, which the police were called out, and he still aloud them people to stay after. Plus they use cheap labor workers to clean, which the cleaning lady always used a filthy mop with just a spray bottle of soap, no mop bucket. We had to ask them to wash all our bed sheets and when they did we had to wait for a while for our sheets, even though they had a whole room full of clean one's, same with towels. Yeah if you chose this place to visit Best of luck!!! If there was an option I wouldn't have given them a...
Read moreTHe Check-In experience was pleasant, no problems there. When we arrived at the room, the room was like an iceberg and it was in the 20's outside. I called the desk and he told me that we could come and get a space heater if we wanted one. I also asked what the internet access was and was provided. I tried multiple times to log in with no success and finally found another connection that was not password protected. Once connected the speed was horrible and this was late at night. There was not any type of guide available for the TV to indicate what channels were available. The room finally got home in the middle of the night.
The next morning, housekeeping was knocking at the door at 8:30 AM!!! WHAT? We tried to tell her to come back later (I was in the shower). She asked if we needed anything right now. That should have been my first clue. We did not get service that day. When we returned the beds were not made and no clean towels.
My boyfriend went down to the office for coffee since there was not any in the room. He had to ask for coffee cups as there were not any out. There was not any bowls for cereal, the cereal level in the dispensers was low. There was only 1 or 2 donuts left. He made me a cup of coffee and carried it back to the room. I took one taste of it and through it out as it tasted like it had been made the night before.
With the exception of the check in and check out service I would not...
