We have tried this place 3 times to be fair and each time was worse than the previous. Never again.
The first time, I ordered the most expensive item on the menu (lets see what they can do). Molqajete Mexicano I believe they called it. It came to the table with half of the items listed right on the menu. When I questioned the waiter, he became very rude and insulting telling me I was wrong. Middle aged guy dark hair and big black mustache. I asked him to bring me a menu to read to him the dish. Then they wanted to tell me that they had made substitutions but they didn’t say a thing about it. Very unprofessional and the taste was bland as could be.
Next time was for lunch. Again, the same waiter as before, again the waiter was rude, impatient, and didn’t seem interested in answering any questions about any dish offered. Street tacos. They were terrible. I am born and raised in San Diego and have traveled extensively in Mexico and Baja California and this food is not Mexican. One tortilla, barely any cilantro or onions and not a piece of lime anywhere. The meat was bland and cooked terrible. You will never buy a street taco in Mexico without a wedge of lime.
Last time was the day before yesterday when my youngest son took me for lunch. Again, another older bald headed rude waiter. Sat us at a dirty table with food all spilled under it. He was visibly irritated that I ordered water to drink but I don’t drink alcohol or soda. Get over yourself! I was blown away at the level of arrogance and “we don’t give a damn” being displayed. Guests are not valued at this restaurant. I had the Cotija tacos. The worst dish ever. The boiled meat was terrible. Tasted rancid. No seasoning at all and prepared and presented like a dish of dog food. I left 1.5 of the 3 tacos. It was gross.
We will never go back to this place. It is a joke.
Rude staff, lousy food, and the food is slopped onto a plate with no cooking skills or pride of craftsmanship at all.
It’s sad because Findlay desperately needs a real Mexican restaurant but alas, this place...
Read moreI really loved the food here and our server was awesome. But there was sadly a problem. I came to celebrate a marriage and the bride called a few days before to set up a reservation. There was about 15 of us. When we got there it was packed and we had to wait for a table. Our server said once a party at the table by us left that we would get it. Then there was another party that was standing and waiting who also had about 15 people. The FOH manager told us that they would get the table because they were waiting for a ling time (we were already waiting for about 25 mins). Then our bride told him how is that possible when she made reservations? He said "we do not take reservations". The bride said "ok well someone took our reservations and we were promised that table and we have been waiting a long time too!" Then the FOH manager said "well these people have reservations too and been waiting." So now I'm confused because he said they don't take reservations and now he's saying they have reservations. It was very busy and packed in there and those people ended up taking what was supposed to be our table. The situation was handled poorly. We finally got a table 15mins later but i felt that the FOH was back tracking and lying to us about the other table. There is a sign on door stating that they don't take reservations but nobody told us that when the bride called. And the FOH manager didn't say anything about the other people having a reservation until our bride kept telling him that it wasn't right to give our table away to people just because they were waiting when we had a reservation. Then he changes his story to "well they have a...
Read moreI came here with a group of six for an early dinner and I was quite hungry. When I saw the Molcajete Mexicano, it sounded great, so I splurged a little. I had never tried a Molcajete dish before and I have to admit that the giant stone bowl is quite impressive. The amount of food in them is equally impressive!
My wife tried the regular Molcajete, and hers arrived first, steaming and sizzling, smelling amazing. It was quickly put to shame by the arrival of the grand festival of meat that is the Molcajete Mexicano. Spiced steak and chicken, with shrimp, chorizo, and cactus, topped with a large smoked pork chop, a couple of large grilled jalapenos, several grilled onions and a couple sticks of Monterey jack cheese. Color me impressed.
Our friendly and courteous server was very attentive, suddenly appearing at the table with exactly what was needed multiple times during our meal. Very much above-average service from this young man!
After my wife and I had eaten our fill from these giant stone Molcajetes, we needed two to-go boxes each to pack up what remained. I walked out of there happy and absolutely stuffed. The leftovers made a fabulous lunch the next day - still delicious, even from the microwave.
Great job Cancun...
