After graciously allowing me to check in EXTREMELY early – at 10:30 in the morning – I proceeded to my room to find that the temperature was sweltering. |Two temperature sensing devices are in the room, one at the door (which does nothing) and the control pad on the heatAC at the window.||The unit at the door was reading 80 degrees, and the window unit was reading 75. As I was only in the room to change clothes before a long day of meetings, I first turned the heater off – then turned on the AC to help cool the room. I left to go about my day.||I didn’t return to the hotel until about 11:30 PM and was shocked to discover that despite the AC being on all day (in theory, read on), the room was STILL HOT.|In most hotels, and I am convinced that that is the case here, the AC is linked to a motion-sensing device – IE you must be in the room AND MOVING AROUND for the AC to run.||As I went to bed, the AC was running, and the room was cooling. (Although not nearly quickly enough.) But, once I fell asleep, the motion sensor quit, the AC shut off, and the room temperature soared again. Why? The hallway outside the room was a walk-in oven! I’m guessing that that the hallway was upwards of 85 degrees, and probably every floor is the same, so I’m on the third floor and heat rises – the entire hotel is a furnace. My night was horrible.||The next morning, I went to the front desk and told them what was happening. Informed that the hotel was full for the coming night, (and could not change my room), I received sympathetic assurance that my complaint would be passed along to maintenance. I said, “Make sure that they bypass the motion sensor,” and was told that it would be taken care of.||Returning to the hotel that evening, I stopped by the front desk to ensure the problem had been addressed. The gentlemen behind the desk told me that the AC unit was checked out and found to be in working order – which was NOT the problem at all!! I was also told that he was ‘pretty sure’ that the AC units didn’t have the motion sensors, which was ignorance on his part or a baldfaced lie. You only need to hop out of bed at night, to hear the AC finally kick on again, to know the truth there.||So, with nowhere else to go, I went up to the room, hoping for the best; it was cool and comfortable – but once again, as soon as I fell asleep, the AC shut down. I woke sweating and miserable. It was 2:30 AM.||I checked out at 3:00 AM. They will not see me again.||Other notes: |The staff is friendly.|The shower is nice, after the :35 min it takes to figure out how to work it.|The toilets sit about 13 inches off the floor. Horrible...
Read moreMy family and I stayed here while visiting the nearby Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. Overall a decent stay, with just about what we would have expected for an extended stay type property. The general area of the hotel (lobby; elevators; pool; gym; breakfast area) was clean. The hotel was quiet at night. Although it was very close to CVG airport, aircraft noise was not noticeable.
The staff was attentive, but did not have a friendly or warm personality about them. Just a staid demeanor about them.
This Homewood is priced at a premium over similar IHG and Marriott offerings within the same vicinity. In my opinion, the product and service offering isn't worth the higher price point over comparable properties nearby.
Pros Spacious room, with separate bedroom and a full kitchen (full size fridge; dishwasher; microwave; mini stove). Comfortable bed and pillows. As good as what's found at the higher end Hilton and DoubleTree properties. Hilton mobile app features for pre check-in / check-out; digital key; select your own room. Decent breakfast offering with plenty of options. Hot items were rotated everyday (different items each day except scrambled eggs, which were available daily) Convenient location close to Ark Encounter; Creation Museum; CVG airport; plenty of nearby restaurants and shopping (Walmart; Meijer).
Cons The kitchenette floor and room carpet could really use a through cleaning and/or shampoo. Both the carpet and hard flooring felt grimy walking on bare feet. The bathroom fan was not working the entire time we were there. This led to excessive humidity in the room. I reported the issue to the front desk, who acknowledged the problem but did not offer to address it. For the price, I feel like the room upkeep and maintenance could be better. In addition to the aforementioned non-functioning bathroom fan, the room we were in had multiple other smaller issues like drywall that wasn't painted over; leaky toilet that caused the tank to constantly refill - the gushing sound of the constant refilling can be annoying in the middle of the night; shower curtains too short resulting in wet floors; room didn't have bathroom floor mats - I had to call to request. Just small things here and there that add up to detract from the overall experience. Staff was attentive, but not overly friendly. Questions or requests were attended to promptly, but not with a level of friendliness or warmth I am accustomed to at Hilton properties. This property is priced at a premium over comparable IHG and Marriott properties nearby. I did not think the product and service offering was worth...
Read moreI stayed at the Homewood Hilton by the Cincinnati Airport and would rate it three stars. The hotel staff was nice and helpful during check-in, but their personalities felt a bit bland. The hotel room itself was pleasant with updated features, high ceilings, and cleanliness. However, there were a few things that I didn't like. The closet was too small and barely fit my duffel bag, and I struggled to find the light switches in the bathroom in the kitchen area. I must say moving forward I am a Hilton brand hotel stayer over Marriott because it more my status , However this is my honest review an my words is my truth this hotel is a 3 star hotel and it was overall nice and got the job done and a peaceful setting and quiet vibe
Sincerely Tiffany D.C Queen.
The shower faucet was loose and had a big hole exposed, which didn't affected its functionality but a turn off and eye sore. Moreover, the TV didn't work, and despite notifying the staff, no one came to fix it. The sink drain was also slow, causing inconvenience and backing up just by brushing your teeth. These issues with functionality were disappointing, causing the kids to be in the room with us most of the time, although the overall experience was still nice. The pool was small, making it feel crowded with 8 to 10 kids. Despite being a luxury hotel for the middle class, some aspects were overlooked in terms of functionality and flow. On the positive side, the outdoor area was appealing, but due to bad weather, it couldn't be fully utilized. A covered patio and fire pits would have been great additions. The hotel's amenities were of high quality, but the staff seemed less attentive and focused on their work.
While I give it three stars, two areas that lacked were functionality and flow, which are important to me during a family vacation. However, it served its purpose for a two-day stay, and I was generally satisfied. The lack of urgency in fixing the TV and the recurring toilet clogs were frustrating. It would have been helpful to have a plunger and a broom in the bathroom for simple maintenance tasks. Despite these issues, I would still recommend this hotel for its convenient location, peaceful surroundings, and nearby amenities like the late-hour Walmart and various...
