After visiting this restaurant it is quite evident to me that I prefer Chinese hibachi over Japanese hibachi. This soup was nothing more than water with 6 noodles and two slices of mushroom. When I asked to substitute the soup for the one that had some seaweed in it I was told no substitutions. I would have paid the difference.
The waitressed would not bring my beverages or my soup and salad to place before me but rather insisted that I reach beyond my fullest extent to accept the soup and salad from her as well as the napkins. Not sure why the custom for her is such that she could not bring my dishes to place before me but rather stood across the table and expected me to reach across two other people to acquire what I was paying her to bring me.
I might also add that I requested a double shot of Grand Marnier and the waitress said to repeat my request which everyone in my party repeated. She said they did not have it but on the way out it was sitting right on the Shelf.
The cook was entertaining. However when I did not like the yum yum sauce or the brown sauce but rather requested a garlic sauce he thought it was funny to announce to the entire restaurant that I should be taken away. His way of calling for my request was to announce that he needed Security. And though it did not make my party laugh legitimately he repeated it three times. It was not funny to me to be told that my request was that offensive. My meal alone was $40.00 plus the $14.00 spent on beverages and $11.00 more for my tip. I have never paid so much to be so insulted.
This insulting Behavior ruined the night I had with my sons whom I rarely get time to visit with. There was no dessert offered even though we were celebrating my son's birthday.
I will be going to Benihana's...
Read moreI'm giving two stars only because the taste of the food was the only thing decent. To begin, the waitress brought everyone their soup and salad but did not bring mine. Before i could say anything she brought our sushi out because she had disappeared until that point and I was waiting to see if she had gone to get it. We also ordered double fried rice no vegetables since we usually take leftovers home for later, only to be given one rice each, which they did fix after we told them when they tried to give us vegetables. Our sushi also had what looked like wasabi all over it when it clearly wasn't supposed to, as we know what we ordered... So we didn't eat half of that either. Same rice scenario happened with the couple next to us, as well as the wife had a chicken allergy which was not reported to the cook by the waitress. Once the cook was aware, they still proceeded to touch everything with the same utensils that had touched the chicken. I felt horrible for the woman as she had to tell them each time that she couldn't accept it because it had touched the chicken. It seems as if they literally forgot each time that she had an allergy or just wasn't listening. We usually drive to Lexington for hibachi and sushi but thought we would give this place a second chance since it's closer. Definitely never coming back after tonight. I would pay double the amount to drive to Lexington rather than eat at Fuji again. We paid our bill and left because we just wanted to get out of there rather than waste time talking to a manager and have them offer useless discounts, excuses etc. I definitely recommend Tekka located in Hamburg, Lexington! Much cleaner, better food and excellent...
Read moreI have been here at least 5 times. The experience last night was beyond deplorable. We hosted a 10 yr old birthday party there. 15 people in a party room. We were sat and 10 mins later they bring another family into the dining area who was not part of the party. Our server had she been trained would have done fine except of course trying to appease two different groups at the same time is a challenge (ps I'm a part time server/bartender myself) then it appeared she had no training on the menu and even worse no busser and no supervision. The manager floated around the restaurant and barely checked in on her despite her large party. Then gave her another large table in the dining room. The hospitality manager in me cringed.
The cook was fine except he didnt handle any criticism.
My husband ordered food that was not hibachi said food never arrived.... as in everyone else ate and his plate was empty. The server because she was so busy never noticed until I called attention to it. When this was brought to the attention of another server and it was asked to see the manager, the manager declined and the food arrived cold. Unbelievable. To add insult to injury when the food that was boxed per our request as everyone was ready to go and put in front of us to take home was removed from the bill, they then took the food back. As if it were some power play.
In short. Horrible experience, and they are off of our list. I'll travel the extra time to BeniHana knowing my service will be satisfactory.
To Fuji accountability is key in any industry. Saying you made a mistake and righting it would have made all...
