Got in pretty late (~3am) following a 12-hour drive from NM. The woman at the desk when we checked in late night was extremely nice and helpful in getting us checked in quickly and making sure we were all taken care of. We just wanted to check into our room and crash. We had a dog with us, as well as a lot of luggage. However, when we went to use the bathroom before heading to bed, we found a GIANT cockroach on the wall (presuming it was the queen). I caught it, took it up to the desk, and the same woman who checked us in took care of it, and assured us that we would receive some kind of compensation for the trouble, which she said would have to be taken care of by the daytime manager. She offered to move us to a different room, but we were both exhausted, and since she promised us compensation in exchange for the issue (which was preferable to me personally), we chose to stay in our room, especially since moving would also require moving several bags.
The following morning, however, two things occurred: First, when she went to shower in the morning, my girlfriend discovered that there was an entire NEST of cockroaches in the light in the bathroom, not just the one from the night before. So that raised an alarm in my head: how does the cleaning staff miss an entire nest when they're cleaning the place.
Second, when we went to speak to the daytime manager, he was very insistent that because we had rejected the offer to move to a different room, we were not eligible for any kind of additional compensation. Eventually he agreed to refund us for one of the nights that we were staying there, but the fact that we had to discuss it at length with him in order to get even that much is unfortunate. How can you expect people to want to stay at your establishment if you're not going to check the room thoroughly between guests? I'm not just talking about living things. Who knows what previous guests may have done or left in the room, especially with COVID being active across the country.
The one bright spot was the woman who helped us check in the night we arrived. She was wonderful. Other than that, I was not happy with our experience at this...
Read moreI am at a high 3 to low 4/5 on this one. Quality Inn I typically view as a place to spend the night and move along. Not coming in with the family as a hub to park for a vacation, but as a stop to get a nights rest, quick breakfast, shower maybe and move along next morning. And this one meets those expectations. Some good and not-so-good. It is easy access and although exterior appearance is "uh-oh", interior really not that bad but not that great either-it is an older building. Flashing lights, older carpet for example. TV didn't work in my first room but staff was good at moving me into another room with one that did. Quiet room/building but bottom line, 4 walls (2 mirrors and 1 picture). Bed/pillows/sheets o.k. HVAC was great, had to turn it up as I was freezing, so it is effective and that is a 5/5. There is a pool but did not see anyone using and not very big either. Won't be swimming laps, just getting wet. Breakfast was decent enough that I didn't go to local places but those options are near-by (and you probably know the breakfast: scrambled eggs, sausage, TX shaped waffles...so not out of this world, either). The hotel is basically in the middle of a huge block. And the backside of the motel (which has a fancy Best Western across the street) has a huge street that gives you easy access to McDonalds way down on one end and a new Dunkin Donuts on the other. In between a few other fancier hotels, Luby's, Sonic, Braum's (which has a handful of groceries), Schlotzkys and also a Waffle House. And there are a few others as well, so food is easy to get to. And with that back street (surprisingly, no street racing) didn't touch the feeder at all and either with good intersections that put you back onto I-20 real easy. Plenty of good to say about this place as long as you understand it is not a fancy anything. If you just need a night without spending a lot of money...this fits the bill in a lot of ways. Easy access to I-20 and food options including some simple groceries at Braum's. But an old building that comes with what you would expect of an old building. Would...
Read moreI would love to leave 0 stars but that is not an option. I am not a hard person to please. I sent an employee here and we booked the reservation last week on the company card. I get a call from my employee that they charged his personal card. I call the hotel… beep, beep, beep. Hang up, call corporate. Give them the reservation number. They inform me the reservation has been cancelled. I do a 3 way call with my employee who tells me he’s in a room at that hotel. Apparently the check in person booked him a new reservation hence the charge on his card. It was not merely for incidentals as one will expect. I politely explain that was not the arrangement I had with my employee so he needs a refund and I need to put the charge on my AMEX as originally intended. She says the issue is that we didn’t complete a “credit card authorization form” which no one, including the person at the front desk explained we would need. She says corporate doesn’t have a billing dept and transfers me to the front desk. Disconnection. Call back to corporate explain the situation again, seems to understand “please hold for case number.” DISCONNECTS. I have to explain the situation to another corporate individual upon calling back who “can’t guarantee me I will get a refund or call back from the manager”…. IS THIS FOR REAL? So my employee gets off the three way call and goes to the front desk. Since he has been checked in over 15 minutes he can’t get a 100% refund. LOL IS THIS A LEGITIMATE BUSINESS? On top of all of this no one even said “I apologize for the inconvenience”… I explained that I have had good experiences at Quality Inn and k recommended my employee book here. Should be a simple credit card swap. If there’s a form SOMEONE PRODUCE IT. A business is poorly ran when corporate can’t get in touch with the front...
