We made our reservation using a name brand website that offered flight, hotel and car rental together. They won’t let us alter our reservation, hence why we had to stay for our reservation or take a monetary loss. The property at Fort Lauderdale - Cypress Creek - NW 6th Way had trash all over the grounds. It doesn’t seem like maintenance had even thought about clearing up the trash around the hotel for months. I am not talking about environment debris. I am stating it looks like someone took their trash outside and just had a grand old time spreading it everywhere. On the left side of the hotel there was a homeless person encampment, which make the property look even more unkept. On the right side of the building where you would use your key card to enter the door was completed busted. There was also trash in the corridor which remained there for our whole stay. The website informs that this hotel was recently renovated, which couldn’t be true for all the issues we had after checking into our room. We bought our own Lysol wipes to use to wipe down the room to make it feel cleaner than what it was after checking in. We had no consistent hot water each time we took a shower. The toilet tank was not sturdy and wobbled too much to where I am surprised it was not leaking on the floor. The microwave was so rusted inside that I felt uneasy using it to heat up the microwave meals we purchased. The latch lock on the door was not secure since the holes for the screws were stripped. I did not feel comfortable leaving my personal possessions behind in the room. The television screen has large scratches all over it, like some child took a fork and decided to make art on the screen. The headboard above the bed had clear fluid substance hand prints on it. There were not enough towels in the hotel room for our stay which was seven nights. They only provided two large towels, two hand towels and two wash rags. We did not get a single housekeeping day during our stay. Usually, they would do housekeeping on the 3rd day to help with providing clean towels and sheets. The floor of our room was absolutely filthy! Our feet/socks were black and sticky with only walking on it for an hour. There is a sign in the bathroom stating they have a 10-point check list for servicing a room, and it shows they clearly do not follow it. The room would never pass the white glove test. The sheets/pillow case had orange stains. The hotel hallways and corridors always smelled like marijuana. The front desk is only open from 8 am to 5 pm. We were not made aware of that by any employee during our check in process. I have never seen a hotel close their front desk completely without having an employee available. One night we needed new towels and had to wait until the next morning to receive some. We went down to get our new towels and they informed that we needed to return our dirty towels prior to them giving us fresh towels. We went back up to our room, got the dirty towels and when we arrived at the front desk again, they said they had no fresh towels to give us, but could drop some off in our room later. We left the hotel to do what we needed for the day and as we returned there were no fresh towels in the room. We had 3 minutes until 5 pm and finally got our fresh towels. I would assume that closing down the hotel front desk completely at night would be liable for a lawsuit since there is no one there operating the property. No wonder the guests feel like they can do as they please during their stays. We had loud neighbors during our stay. End result, the hotel was not clean and I did not feel safe. We will not be staying at this location again. We will search for a new brand of hotel to stay at for any...
Read moreIts a pretty standard extended stay. The blankets could be heavier - if you are cold natured, bring a comforter. The water pressure leaves something to be desired but it is hot and the hot water never ran out. Pressure can be dealt with. Decent area with many food options close by.
I chose 4 stars primarily, however, because of the staff. They are busy and some times you might wait a minute at the desk, but they are nothing but polite and helpful. I watched the staff assist another patron who had been apparently dealing with red tape on the phone with corporate but the young lady at the desk realized the extenuating circumstances and did everything she could to assist a distressed patron. She handled the situation with calm and a smile, better than most would, and I wish I had gotten her name to add to this glowing review. But even just normal interactions are easy with this staff. I have a.service dog, making housekeeping not really a simple thing, and they were more than accommodating, making sure I had both everything I needed for myself and my husband, but also for my dog. Also, both the front desk and housekeeping offered accomodations to make weekly cleaning both possible and easy on myself and my dog, which not every hotel does (housekeeping basically scheduled cleaning with me so I could make sure myself and my service dog were out of the room, so she was not stressed by either having someone unknown around me or knowing there was someone unknown in the space). The staff deserved recognition and actually elevates the rating of this location a full star, and to a place I would absolutely recommend to someone needing an affordable place, especially for an extended period or with animal companions.
(Also to note, they allow pets, not just service animals, and I witnessed both the front desk and house keeping staff making accommodations and helping make pets comfortable, not just service animals. Additionally, they issue "Pet Inside" magnets so housekeeping is aware of the presence of pets and can accommodate our furry family members. Absolutely family friendly if your family includes...
Read moreSeveral months ago, I moved cross-country to attend to the needs of an ill family member with whom I lived for a short duration. When it was time to get situated somewhere else (it is premature to rent an apartment because I don’t know where my job will be located,) I bid on Priceline for a place to stay for a week. A motel room is one thing, but a home to move into, a real furnished studio apartment is another and that is what this place is.
I initially checked in very late, and after a very long day of packing boxes and moving things into a storage unit, I was welcomed by being given a deluxe suite which is contrary to some places which seem to almost want to “punish” guests who get a price far lower than their rack rate and thus treat them like second-class guests.
My room, immediately felt like my own studio, for many things that I thought would have to be left in my storage unit were on hand so that I could immediately make the place my own. For example, I have two nice Persian rugs that I did not want to store, and there is plenty of room to lay them down in my living area. The staff is very helpful and pleasant in addressing any questions and providing minor assistance as needed such as promptly swapping out a DVD player which had a broken cable and its piece stuck into one of its input jacks.
When my week was nearing its end, I wanted to extend my stay at Extended Stay, rather than move somewhere else even if I were to save a few dollars. When I found an exceptional coupon online through RetailMeNot, I went ahead and reserved another 2 weeks. Somehow, I unintentionally booked the standard queen room rather than the deluxe. When I found out that I would have to switch rooms upon my checkout from the first week, management graciously allowed me remain in the suite for another 2 weeks at only an extra $3/night...talk about accommodating.
This place has been and continues to be wonderful as I start my second week here. Sitting at my desk right now in my office section, I can’t imagine a better place in this area for me to stay during these transitional weeks. Thank you,...
