I hope it was an off night and that’s why it was so disappointing. My parents used to come to this place decades ago and we were craving a true diner experience. From the moment you pull up you know this place is a legit traditional diner. Our server was, distracted, to put it nicely. She brewed decaf coffee for our table that came out so strong that no amount of cream could mask the bitterness. My father had the grilled cheese and tomato soup which he enjoyed. That is where everything happy ends. My dad asked for his soup to come out first. I saw our order start to come out on the counter and my did still hadn’t gotten his soup. Instead of bringing everything out and saying “we tried to bring it out first but everything here is fast” they held our plates at the counter while the server brought the soup and went to the kitchen to talk with the other staff. After a few min they grabbed the plates on the counter and brought them to us. My mother ordered the breakfast wrap which has ribeye steak inside. The server asked her for a temp on the steak and my mother said medium rare. I thought it was odd they would take a temp for a wrap. And when it came out the steak was chopped up like a Philly cheesesteak and well done. That said, that’s how I expected it to be served in thin pieces. But why take a temp then? My husband got pancakes and eggs and the pancakes were microwaved. But somehow everything was cold? I ordered a side of sausage Pattie’s with eggs over medium and a side of sausage gravy. They brought my sausage gravy out with everyone’s meal, except my eggs and sausage. I waited and watched my family eat and my sausage gravy get cold for over 10 minutes. Pretty sure I’ve made eggs and sausage in under ten minutes so I guess they forgot my order? Why bring the gravy out then? I stood up to cancel the order since I take the longest time to eat. At that moment My eggs and sausage came as my family had finished their meals. My eggs were barely cooked with clear white goo on the egg white. No where near medium. Then to finish, we were handed a bill with an automatic 10$ service fee. As a former server, I know it’s not easy working in the industry. That said, if your restaurant has an automatic fee— maybe work harder to justify an additional tip! We gladly tip servers. That said, we really didn’t get good service. The bathrooms reeked of bleach to the point my husband had to go outside to get his eyes to stop watering. And our server was nice but not attentive at all. I won’t be back. I hope this place starts to focus on service because historic places need to stay in business. Sending some positive vibes...
Read moreWell, we were excited because of the reviews. Let’s start by saying we entered and waited and waited… didn’t get greeted most likely because they were a bit busy, but OK ….then I asked the server do we sit ourselves or…. They were just putting in order by the door. He said it’s just gonna be a min with a hint of sass .. So now there’s a line behind so they seat us. The server didn’t come for a while then she came got our drink order and then she didn’t come for a while again. Then we finally ordered, our onion soup was very salty but good. Our burgers were good too but nothing spectacular. Disco fires good but gravy was why to salty. Which maybe we would’ve came back but the cherry on top was it was hard to get refills and when the restaurant died down a lot of people left it was still hard to get refills. I asked the lady for a to go cup three times. I said OK maybe the first time she didn’t hear me then I asked her another time and she was going to bring me back a cup with Coke and then she passed by us like nothing when she brought us a check and then I asked her again And she like kind of walked away with an attitude that she had our whole time she was serving us but hey whatever issue she had I don’t care, I just want my drink, I don’t understand why it was so hard to order a to go cup. My husband is starting to get upset because he saw me ask for a 2 go cup so many times. I guess the food is just as salty as the service. I hope in the future they find some...
Read moreShould be zero stars for the experience I had tonight. Came in, order soup as an appetizer as well as a dinner. Waited and waited for my soup to be brought. In the meantime they sat 2 drunks behind me who were loud and using racial slurs I haven’t heard in decades. Another couple was sat in the booth on the other side of me but after turning around several times in response to the racist drunks, got up and walked out of the restaurant. Waitress never came back to my table with my soup or to see if I needed a refill on my soda. Finally after almost 30 minutes she comes back and says “you never got your soup?” Not sure why she didn’t know it since she was my waitress. Finally brought my soup. I asked to be moved to another table as I had had enough of the racist drunks. Get moved, soup was cold. Get my dinner, which was cold as well (probably made a half hour earlier and sat there since - why would you think that was ok to serve to a customer!). Waitress again never came back. I had to get up and go to the counter to ask for a soda refill at which point I told them what poor service and cold food I received there. A manager came over, I explained the problems from start to finish. She did apologize and offered to have my meal remade or bring me something else, but I’d had it at that point. They comped my meal, but don’t think I will ever go back there again. Poor service, lousy food, and a horrible experience. A free meal did not make up for the horrible...
