My husband and I recently stayed 4 nights at the Green Island Inn in Ft. Lauderdale FL. I found this gem thru a friend who lives close by and then searching the TripAdvisor site for recent reviews, I booked directly with the inn by calling 954-275-4565 and speaking with Agnes who is a vital member of the team which includes John and Richie. The listing describes accurately the accommodations and atmosphere of this quiet, friendly, low - key 25 room complex. We felt safe and secure with the well-lit premises and guaranteed parking space and my husband and I both felt it was a safe neighborhood to be out after dark. The pictures on Trip Advisor seem to be a little older than what we experienced. The inn seems to be under some newer leadership and they have a new logo and sign out front- NE 27th St and NE 33 Ave.||We stayed in Room 21 on the ground floor, surrounded by lush tropical foliage. This room was considered the “larger room” in the newly renovated part of this motel style setting. It had king-sized platform bed which was comfortable. The air conditioning is a welcome relief and the layout is perfect for a couple for a 4-5 day stay although many of the other guests were staying for 3- 4 weeks. The shower and tub had immediate hot water and great water pressure and a soothing rainfall shower head. I would consider this a small efficiency apartment style room. Small kitchen with countertop and stools. Cabinets are minimally stocked with dishes, glasses, pots and pans and small appliances such as toaster and microwave. All that you possibly would need for a week or more. The refrigerator and freezer kept things nice and cold and were very clean. There are a few starter items such as toilet paper, small soaps, shampoo, a few trash bags, etc. The area seems to have a Publix, Trader Joe's or Whole Foods Food Market close by or a Dollar Store or Goodwill thrift shop around every corner so it is very easy to run out and purchase the few items you may need or those not provided. |The washer and dryer were outside of the room and it was pay per use. It was very convenient to be able to throw a load thru mid-week. |The outside is where it is all happening. Clean pool, full sun, plenty of lounge chairs and tables and chairs and outside grilling. Fun to chat with the other guests. So lovely to be outside swimming, listening to the birdsong, watching the blue sky and puffy clouds go by.|Plenty of pool/beach towels are available and there is an area where you can grab a beach chair or umbrella and go for a dip in the ocean at Lauderdale Beach, just a few minutes walk across A1A.||I would recommend this Old Style Florida complex to anyone who wants to spend some time in the Sunshine State in a casual and warm atmosphere and...
Read more11/18/22 Just checked in.. my vfirst impression is this place is a gem. An older motel, smartly decorated, with a kitchenette to boot. Was greeted at the office, check in was quick and easy. Gabriella then escorted us to the room and did a quick inspection, to make sure everything was done correctly (it was). Room was VERY clean. Pool area is nice, and just steps away from the rooms. There is a nice fenced in tropical garden that you can also enjoy. Parking is free
11/20. Check out was easy. Again, Gabriella came by to make sure our stay was enjoyable. This is a definite "Return To" motel. My first impressions were spot on. We had an enjoyable stay, very quiet and safe. The room was excellent. What this place is NOT.. it's not the Hilton or Marriott... it isn't a sterile designed, cookie cutter room. No room service, no concierge or turn down service.. but you also aren't paying 250 to 400.00 a night! The Green Island Inn is worth every penny they charge and then some. A block from the beach.. cross a1a and walk another few hundred feet. Eateries all around, some within walking distance. And just about any cuisine you could want is nearby. Clean, quiet rooms. Nice pool area. BBQ grills to use and a kitchen with a 4 burner stove and oven. THANK YOU for the wonderful stay! Looking forward to returning next time we visit...
Read moreWhat a little gem this hotel was for us! We had booked another hotel for our 2 night stay in fort Lauderdale before our cruise, but when we saw the reviews I went hunting for something better. And what a relief finding this place! The location for us was wonderful, just over the road from the beach to watch the sunrise, and only around 20 minutes to the port for our cruise. The hotel felt very secure as there was a door with a passcode on that was locked on a night. It felt very homely walking through to get to our room, not sure if people live there but it felt like a nice cosy place to be. Our room was absolutely immaculate! It was upstairs overlooking the pool, it felt like it had been recently renovated with a nice modern feel to it. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The kitchen area was very clean and had everything we needed. The bathroom was also very nice with a light up mirror and a huge walk in shower! The pool area was nice and clean, very quiet for a weekend! We spent the night sat around the pool with some snacks and drinks, it was a perfect place to relax after travelling from the UK. There was a few shops for breakfast/snacks within walking distance for us. Overall it was a wonderful stay and if we’re ever back in fort lauderdale for a cruise we will definitely be...
