I was hesitant to book this hotel, as I saw a mixed bag of reviews and photos. After having rolled the dice and stayed there myself, I can confidently tell you to disregard all of the photos you find online that look like your great aunt's guest room (those are old, from before it was remodeled) and book this hotel!
I stayed here for a total of four nights with my two teenage nieces. We were all very impressed with the hotel and would definitely come back.
The owner (and hotel's only employee), Matthew, was kind and helpful throughout our stay. Before booking, I called, and he was able to help me save a bit of money over the third-party site I was perusing. Then, when our flight flight arrived well in advance of the standard check-in time, he stowed our luggage for us and rushed to clean our room while we grabbed coffee nearby. He provided plenty of helpful suggestions for the area and checked with us every day to see if we needed anything. And when we inquired about a broom and dustpan for the sand we tracked in from the beach? He ordered it immediately and had it delivered within hours! Thank you, Matthew!
The building itself is very cute, just one story with about eight rooms surrounding an inner courtyard with a small-but-adequate pool and lounge chairs. It reminded me of the 60s roadside motels you see in movies in a very good way -- small, intimate, family-oriented.
Our room was fantastic. Impeccably clean and modern with extremely comfortable beds with crisp, white sheets. All of the bedding and linens were of excellent quality. The kitchenette exceeded my expectations with a combination microwave/air fryer that required some googling to figure out but saved me a small fortune in food costs. The air conditioner ran COLD and kept the room super comfortable even when outside temps were in the upper 90s.
It is maybe a two-minute walk to the beach, and beach chairs/umbrellas are available at the hotel free of charge. The beach was beautiful and uncrowded during our stay (late July) with very little litter.
The only thing that could be improved is the proximity of a decent supermarket, but they are in the process of building a Publix directly across the street! I had an excellent stay at The Hotel Deauville and could not recommend it enough.
Sorry, I didn't think to get any pics of the actual room while I was there. Any photos you see on other reviews with white walls and white...
Read moreTried calling directly on a Sunday morning as I needed to find out if they had any rooms available for a last minute 2 night stay pre-cruise. I read many good reviews and since we were traveling on a budget, it appeared to be a good option. The gentleman who answered the phone had a bit of an accent and I didn 't catch his name. I immediately stated I was seeking availability of a private room. He rated he was checking someone in and hurriedy asked me to call ack in 15 minutes and hung up the phone. Since I mainly wanted to find out if they had any vacancies for my travel dates and didn't want to to play phone tag, I decided to wait a half hour before calling back. This time, the gentleman asked me if I had called earlier. When I said, "Yes", he said he was still checking in the same party in but now it was a party of 4. He was rather rude and kept saing , "I'll call you back, I'll call you back." The only thing I could get in was if he had my number. He said he did and hung up. He never called back so I decided to call later that afternoon in hopes of speaking to someone else. When l believed it was the same gentleman who answered, I politely asked to speak to a manager. He stated he was a manager. I asked for his name but he refused to give it to me. Again, he was very rude. He told me he was driving in his car. Since I dialed the hotel number directly, this made no sense to me. I asked him for the name of the manager who would working on Monday and he stated, "Dennis." I asked him how I could reach him and he yelled in to the phone he was at the same number. I hung. A minute later, someone named Dennis called me. He tried to tell me he was the one working the front desk in the A.M. when I called. When I asked him why he did not call me back he said his Internet was down but I was on his list to be called. This made no sense to me. I felt if nothing else he could've at least called to take my information instead of leaving me hanging. I really wanted to stay at this hotel but I guess they...
Read moreThe main hospitality worker is mentally ill. She is a dishonest drama queen. I had invited the owners of the hotel, all the staff, and all the guests to grocery shop with me , as I had a huge gift card balance that I was unable to fully use while I was in Fort Lauderdale. As one of the people I asked, "Jennifer" (the hospitality worker) was ecstatic and said that she wanted to shop on "Monday or Tuesday." On Tuesday, she passed by me near the pool area, totally turning her head away from me for avoidance. An hour later, her co-worker approached me and said "Jennifer wanted me to tell you that you should take homeless people shopping because they need discounted groceries more than her!!!" Total lie, as 2 days previously she smiled from ear to ear about saving money and she set a shopping excursion for "Monday or Tuesday." Secondly, why did she have a co-worker approach me, instead of herself? Thirdly, why did she suddenly become a homeless people advocate? Perhaps this 220 pound cottage-cheese thighed white trash thought I was interested in her? All-in-all, this is a seriously mentally ill person that is interested in creating drama where no drama need exist. In my experience, drama queens like this go out of their way to create problems, as they have no other adventure in their sorry inbred lives. So, if you stay here, beware, she'll create a problem "out of the blue" to make your stay miserable. There's plenty of other similar places in the area at the same price, so avoid this person. P.S.: the owners were nice people. If they respond in the review section that they have fired this psycho, then yes, this place is ok. If not, stay clear of the place, god knows what...
