I recently stayed here on the 6th of March 2013 prior to a cruise because of other reviews I have read about this Hampton Inn. The building's interior design is not the standard Hampton, but it has everything I have grown to know about this Hilton chain.
Of course, I constantly called to make sure there was a shuttle to the cruise port, which was a reason why I wanted to stay here. The employee over the phone said yes and it is complimentary...even better!! I have seen that the manager responded to reviews on other sites. Once I got to Ft Lauderdale I called for the complimentary shuttle to the hotel after verifying my reservation; just to warn you it does take about 20 minutes for them to come from the hotel which I was fine with...the walk to the shuttle stop took about 5 minutes with our bags. They said it was a shuttle with pink flamingos on it. Of course I thought it was painted on, but they were also plastic ones on the roof. This made it easy to identify the right Hampton shuttle or shuttle in general from the front at night. The driver was friendly and helped with the bags.
Once we got to the hotel they were quick to check us in; typical good Hampton service. I think it was a manger, but he recommended this good place to eat nearby in the strip mall next door called 84 Thai Food. It was a good place, and I would eat there again on my next cruise. At check in they reserve your spot on the cruise shuttle by ship and time; it was nice they automatically asked just in case.
The next morning the same manager was there and remembered my name for check out...never had that happen before. They also had staplers out ready for cruise passengers to attach their cruise luggage tags...that was great because I was about to ask after getting downstairs. The only negative I saw was the space in the lobby for breakfast...it is kind of small and I almost had to eat in my room because there were so many people during most of the breakfast time. It is the standard Hampton Inn breakfast...they did also have guava juice in addition to the orange juice if you want that instead. For the shuttle, get downstairs about 10-15 minutes before.
This Hampton is a little more than I normally spend at other Hampton's, but to be stress free before the cruise was great. I would definitely...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about my stay at the Hampton. I had book a while back and paid the hotel in full before arriving. Check in was extremely fast, however the attendant that checked me in could not tell me how much the hold on my card was going to be, she said it should be about $50 a night I guess but I am not to sure. Upon arriving to my room which was on the top floor that was newly renovated I noticed that rite down the hall that they were doing construction which lead to a lot of dust on the hallway rugs heading up to my room. I finally entered my room and found no fridge or microwave and the air on at full blast, when we went to turn the air off there was a note on in that read unit must be controlled by the wall (which there was no way of controlling it) we called the front desk to ask about the issue and the attendant said that there should be a way to turn it off. After going back and forth with the front desk for a while, they finally sent the maintenance manager up as to where he looked at the unit and told us that he had to put a thermostat in order for us to control it we agreed and he started doing his repairs while letting us know how much he hated his job and how the hotel was crappy. The bathrooms were clean however there was stains in our shower that could not be cleaned and the towel holders were literally falling off the walls. The pool area was nice and clean and they always had fresh pool towels available. The breakfast was good and the cook was very friendly and attentive we always looked forward to seeing her in the mornings. After our forth night it was time to check out in which I couldn't have been anymore happier because the hotel was in full renovation mode and even the lobby had walls missing, dust, plastic on the walls and caution tape all over the place. I personally feel like I was over charged for my stay at this place. they should have at least informed us that the place was getting renovated before I took my...
Read moreOne of the reasons we chose this place is because they advertised a complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. Upon arrival we called the hotel and spoke with a guy with the shuttle service who told us where to go for pickup and to give them 30 - 45 mins to pick us up. After more than an hour and 1/2 we called the hotel again, got connected to the shuttle service, where the same guy we spoke with pretended as if he had never spoken with us. At this point we took an Uber to the hotel. Upon arrival the shuttle people were at a desk next to the hotel entrance. When they were asked what happened, a guy with the same accent and exact same voice we had spoken with again said we had not called them. What we observed is they were more preoccupied with getting those who were paying for morning departures to cruise ships. When we complained during checkin at the front desk, we were told “They are a third party and we have no control over shuttle service pickup.” Really? So why advertise you have a complimentary shuttle service and why do the shuttles have Hampton Inn on them? To make matters worse, we get to our room and it smelled like urine. We switched rooms, dropped our luggage to sightsee, only to find out when we returned there was the most disgusting linen ever on the bed. There was hair, questionable spots, and blood stains. We were tired and frustrated. Yet, we had to strip our bed, wipe down the mattress, change the linen, wipe down the room with disinfectant wipes, and spray with Lysol. We also cleaned the floor with wipes because it appeared to never have been mopped. The breakfast was horrible. The McDonald’s across the parking lot was much better. Overall, I would never recommend the Hampton to anyone. I’m sure there are much better places to stay in...
