TL; DR - Bed bug infestation discovered after finding welts from bites on my legs. Received a refund for my stay, but management is ignoring request for reimbursement in documented out-of-pocket expenses, despite multiple follow-ups. Their silence and lack of accountability speak volumes about their commitment to customer care, health & safety—seriously consider staying elsewhere. -- I had an extremely unfortunate experience during my stay at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ft. Lauderdale Airport/Cruise on November 21-23, 2024, that I feel compelled to share as a warning to future guests. The nightmare began with a bedbug infestation in Room 535, which caused not only physical discomfort but also significant financial and emotional distress (sounds dramatic but look at the photos!) Upon itching and finding welts on my legs, I discovered over 10 bedbugs in the bed late at night, and was forced to vacate immediately. This led to unexpected expenses, including a new hotel, medical care for bedbug bites, transportation, dry cleaning, and replacement of personal belongings that were infested (they were in my bag!) I promptly documented everything and shared photos and videos of the infestation with the hotel management. While I appreciated the hotel’s immediate acknowledgment of the situation and a refund for my stay, during that phone call they said they’d offer me 10k points in lieu of paying my expenses. I said I’d rather just be made whole (nothing more than expenses incurred as a result), and after emailing my itemized expenses per their employee, Maher, my requests for reimbursement of these out-of-pocket expenses were met with silence. Despite multiple follow-ups to the team and to the GM, Axel, over nearly two weeks, management failed to provide a resolution or even the courtesy of a response. The lack of accountability and communication from Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ft. Lauderdale Airport/Cruise management is deeply disappointing. As someone who travels frequently, I understand that issues can arise which is why I’ve been willing to work with them to avoid escalation, but how a hotel handles such incidents speaks volumes about their commitment to guest care. This experience has not only impacted my trust in this hotel chain but also left me with lingering concerns about their handling of health and safety (as well as customer service) issues. I urge anyone considering staying here to proceed with caution. If management cannot address such a serious matter responsibly, it raises questions about their overall commitment to guest welfare. Choose your accommodations wisely—your health, peace of mind, and wallet may depend on it.

Stayed here before my cruise from Port Everglades. They have a nice free shuttle you have to call when you get TO the pickup area. Don't call before you get there and waste everyone's time. It's about a 15min wait in GOOD traffic. Wait for YOUR van or ask the driver where they go. They all know each other. So confirm BEFORE you get in which hotel you're going to. Once we were leaving to go TO the cruise port, it was like a $10 Uber, since it's NOT that far away, location location! I think it's like 2mi? If that? Have your IDs ready for the gate to get into the port. We arrived early as I had already said we would in my booking and the employees had our room ready. It was clean except for the dead roach next to the couch, so I don't think they properly vacuumed that room. I told the employee as we were leaving for errands. It was an other wise perfectly clean and suitable room for the pay. Not even a "get what you pay for belief," it was a really nice room. I dunno why ppl mock IHG. I've stayed in ✨competitors✨ of a "higher" grade and had mold in my sink and MORE bugs! IN Massachusetts! We couldn't figure out how to use the room coffee machine, so instructions would be greaaaaaaaaat. Their coffee machine downstairs was also out of order, so my aunt was SOL for coffee unless she wanted to walk to Dunkin's. We didn't. Plenty of seating and plugs in this suite. More than in MY home, so they have you covered there! And great Dove products in the bathroom. I was impressed! Our cruise had some weird tree smelling scents we chose NOT to use and we're glad we had our own soap. Breakfast buffet was great and plentiful. No weird continental breakfast. Florida DOES get cold, so we weren't prepared for that and then it got REALLY hot, so I was wiped the next day and just had OJ. They have a great variety here in the early am. My aunt ate well. Staff were very friendly and professional. Again, I dunno if this was just tame versions of A Florida Man, but they were very attentive, but personable. Didn't get to swim in the pool as it was nippy, again, FLORIDA GETS COLD (by MA standards), but it looooooked nice!😂 Any last minute supplies, just go across the street. Dollar Tree, Winn Dixie Grocery store, a discount clothing store that starts with a b....can't remember it, but nice options! Getting ACROSS the street is the danger. Knees chest it folks and run!😂 Seriously. The crosswalk is waaaaaaaaaay down. All in all I give the hotel 4.75/5, cuz that long dead roach showed the room hasn't been vacuumed WELL, but was otherwise a very good stay! Would return.

If I could give zero stars I would. I stayed here for work and the experience was not great to say the least. The check in process was awkward with a woman yelling at a man who was trying to check us in. If you look past that because everyone has bad days don’t stay here if you enjoy clean rooms. My door was broken and I had to scan my room key half a dozen times before I could get the handle to pull the latch back. At first look my room was fine but after the third night I found live bedbugs in my bed (it was my first experience and I didn’t know what all to look for). When bringing it to that same woman’s attention she was very harsh and questioned why I didn’t say something the first night… Obviously I didn’t say anything because I didn’t know what to look for and what I was seeing. It wasn’t until I saw one moving in the bed and found a very young one in the crease of the pillow case (bright red from his snack), I asked a co worker about them and they confirmed they were bed bugs and not just a bug from our outdoor walking. The woman took a picture of my picture and was struggling to figure out what to do next. She gave me a new room and offered to have someone help me move all of my things. She and the other person also came to check out my new room to check for signs of an issue in the room. There were none but they didn’t notice how dirty the room was especially the bathroom. Since I was terrified to sleep in the new bed I spent quite a bit of time in the bathroom and showering where I noticed not only how filthy it was but the shower door was broken and several tiles were cracked and mildew was present. I think the hotel gave us $40 off of my stay. My coworkers did have any issues with their room but I spent more in the treatment of my luggage, clothes and belongings than the credit that was given not to mention that fact that I slept for less than two hours that last night. I debated leaving a review and decided I needed to cool down as there were many more things I would’ve been negative about. Bottom line I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

My local company supervisor made a reservation for me to stay at this hotel during business trip to Fort Lauderdale.

This hotel is not good with second party reservations loke IHG, ect. (I dont have the company card for the reservation made for me by my company's travel department). After my supervisor makeing the reservation during the early afternoon and paying for the hotel he was told everything was good for me to check into the hotel when I arrived late in the evening after working more than 18 hours strait I was told I cannot check in because the reservation was not paid for, My supervisor had to call the front desk and after arguing with the staff they were finally able to check me in once a credit card authorization form was sent and returned by my supervisor. He simply wantrd to know why the hotel did not ask him for this form to be filled out earlier in the day when the timing was more convenient to avoid all this confusionand hostility.

Then after staying 2 nights my company wanted to extend my stay for another job that came up they called to extend my stay. I went down to the front desk to simply ask if they received my extended stay information. Once again I received a very rude and hostile (face expression) response like I was a little kid and asked me "who is we?". I told them my company. I then told them I am a customer already checked in and he should just ask for my name and room number to check on the room extention. They should not have been so rude to me after asking this simple question to them. His response was that he is a supervisor and "I will not be staying in his hotel this evening".. I told him if he was the supervisor he should know his job is to de-escalate the situation with customers and not to escalate them further. This all started with me asking if my room stay had been extend...

This hotel is always crowded with cruise ship passengers in transit and the hotel staff seems to be strrssed and short tempered with its customers.

I will not stay at this hotel again and I do not recommend anyone staying at this hotel if you are on a business trip due to the very negative attitude from the hotel staff and its supervisors.

I had many other issues, like people talking very loud in the halls and slaming doors. After working another 12 hours I came back to my room and my door was open. When I closed the door, it would not latch. I told the hotel staff and there response was they knew about it and you just need to slam the door for it to latch. I woke up early in the morning to shower and there was no hot water. I learned you need to shower in the evening to have hot water.

Update: I went back to the hotel later that day to check in with my new reservation. The man, EVENSON that said he was a supervisor and he was not going to let me stay another night had canceled my new reservation.

I was told by the front desk people that tried to check me in that he was not a supervisor and there was nothing that they could do for me until the next day when the real hotel manager RAY MORAR was in. I could tell from EVENSON'S actions there was no way he could be in management.

Our company has a facility a few miles from the hotel and they send 100's of visiting employees from their other facilities to this hotel. I guess they do not care about long...

I Do NOT RECOMMEND STAYING AT THIS HOTEL

I’d like to start off by saying I travel for work and stay over 150 nights in IHG brand hotels exclusively year round. Most of the time in the Holiday Inn Express locations across the country.

I chose to stay here due to me previously staying here two years ago and it being a pretty decent hotel. I wish I would have checked the recent reviews before I booked my stay.

To start off I checked in got a set of keys, headed up to the room and the keys didn’t work. Went back downstairs got a new set of keys, went back to the room and they still didn’t work. A very kind house keeping woman tried to help us and informed us that it appeared someone was already inside and they had the door locked.

Vesna the front desk manager then upgraded us to a suite. We went up got into the room and then tried to take a shower. NO HOT WATER. Went back down stairs to ask about this and I was moved to a different room.

This experience was quite annoying but I was just happy to have a room with warm water and everyone involved at this time was respectful to me and helpful.

Fast forward to the next evening when I tried to take a shower. NO HOT WATER AGAIN.

At this point I had had enough and decided it would be best to just check out and move over to the candlewood suites across the parking lot. The man at the front desk was very polite and apologized for all of our troubles and didn’t charge us for the 2nd night stay. I was told to call Ray the manager at 10 AM to try and set things right.

This morning I went to talk to Ray (THE MANAGER OF THIS HOTEL) and was quite disappointed by the way he talked to me and handled the situation.

To start off on this chat with him I am pulling a gooseneck trailer for work. Vacation destinations are hard for me to find parking spaces for this trailer.

I just asked him if I could extend my parking pass so I could continue to park at the end of his parking lot (which was empty for the time that I was there. He asked what room I was in then I told him that I had checked out yesterday and was supposed to call him this morning.

I informed Ray about how bad our experience was and was met with no concern about our stay. He tried telling me the hot water was working in that room. I will be the first to say I would not completely check out of a hotel at 7Pm on the 2nd night stay if there weren’t issues. RAY DID NOT CARE. I asked about the parking pass one more time for our troubles and he said I could park but “ I couldn’t pull that huge trailer and I can only take up 1 spot.) which is kind of wild because I asked at least 4 different people if it was okay that I parked back there.

If you take nothing more from this review get this. RAY is the problem and this hotel has gone down hill under his management. All the other hotel workers I encountered at this location had genuine concern about how bad my stay was besides him. I am not bashing IHG hotels and in all my years I have not felt like I’ve had to leave a bad review for one until now. I DO NOT RECOMMEND STAYING AT THIS HOTEL. A formal complaint has been filed with IHG and they are...
