Slackers Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale

My first experience here was great, we ordered a burger and a French dip and I loved the French dip and my bf liked his blue cheese burger. 2 weeks later I’m craving a French dip so I order one for pickup from Toast but couldn’t figure out how to add cheese so I called and asked for American cheese and the lady on the phone said no problem. I waited maybe 15 mins for the order and went home only to open the container and there’s no au jus and also no cheese… I live about 7 mins away so I called to tell them what happened so I could drive back to pick up the right order and not have to wait too much longer, the lady on the phone said she’ll wait for me to get back and take it in the back to add the cheese… first of all that’s a health and safety violation to reheat food I’ve already taken home and touched with my bare hands, second of all the point in me calling is to not have to wait so long since I’ve already waited 15 mins for my first order driven all the way home and have to drive back. She says I have to speak to a manager and puts me on hold. I end up making it back to the restaurant food in hand and have to speak to the manager explaining my order was incorrect and I’m just trying to get my food fresh… not food that’s been all around town with me. He happily obliged and understood and even offered me a free drink while waiting for my new order. That was very nice of him, but honestly I shouldn’t have had to talk to the manager in the first place as it seems like common sense that didn’t need to be so complicated and drawn out. I've been to Slacker's a few times (drove down from West Palm Beach), and if it wasn't a 45 minute drive, I'd go more often. This bar is, to Green Bay Packers fans, what Old Key Lime House is to Florida Gators fans. You can order local Wisconsin beers, bratwurst, cheese curds, good burgers, and my dad really enjoyed his reuben rolls.

If you're a health nut, there are several salads, fresh tuna fish, mahi mahi, etc. Really, there is something for everyone. It's a fun sports bar on its own, but if you're a Midwestern transplant, you'll really feel at home here.

Tons of Packers memorabilia adorn the walls, reminding you of the days of Lombardi, Starr, & Nitschke. "Bang the Drum" plays after every Green Bay touchdown. Helmets are behind the bar, and there are also Milwaukee Brewers, Bucks, and Wisconsin Badgers jerseys hanging from the walls.

There's only one drawback... They have to share the bar with FSU Seminoles fans. Good thing they don't hire any FSU graduates, though. You can tell because when you order, they don't respond with, "Would you like fries with that," or use the term "Happy Meal." 🤣

The bathrooms (a.k.a. Chicago Bears fans crying stations) were pretty clean, the staff was friendly, and I left looking forward to my next visit. Go Pack Go! Go Gators! ...and boy did that place make me miss Milwaukee. By the way, try their Bloody Marys. Reminded me a bit...

So the kitchen closes at 2:00 a.m, we got there around 1:00 a.m. we used to be regular customers about 2 years ago when we lived closer, the quality of the food used to be absolutely amazing, all of the time. Now I don't know if everything was so different and bad because it's been such a long time since we last went, and that's just the way that things are now, or if it's just because it was so late at night, but we ordered a burger and wings to share, and they were the most mediocre plain dry flavorless burger and wings we have ever eaten anywhere. I had also asked for a steak knife and extra plates to cut the burger and share everything with my wife before we ordered, and we still didn't get that I had to get up and go ask somebody for it. So customer service wasn't good either. Not only that but when the waitress greeted the table and I told her we weren't drinking alcohol, that we wanted soda she kind of lost it saying WHAT?! NO ALCOHOL?! Fortunately for her I found that reaction to be equally as humorous as it was annoying so it didn't bother me too much... Honestly the only thing that was really good there that stood out to me was the music. The whole time we were there nothing but one great song after another.
