Old Heidelberg Deli — Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale

This review is for the deli... This is a revised review and rating... It's a complaint. Today I came here at 530pm and purchased $14.48 in cold cuts... I did not intend to come here since I only intended to go to the airport and let the lady know this... Anyway, I was told that she expected me to spend a lot more "since I came all the way from Homestead" then when I asked for a styrofoam sandwich container to keep my cold cuts cold she said " that's a lot of money for a styrofoam container for such a small order" Really lady? That container cost you maybe 10cents and I've been coming here for years usually spending around $40... I offered to give her a dollar for the container and seeing my change of demeanor she declined... Now for my original review: A few times a year, for years now, I've been driveing an hour each way from Homestead to buy their German deli meats and bread... They have a great selection of deli German deli meats, Wurst and imported cheeses some of wich are not available at other German stores... The selection of other German foods and beers is also good... The staff are very friendly and all speak English. They also speak German wich gives me a chance to brush up on my...

Meh - food didn't look that appetizing only a couple of things looked worthy of buying. They did have lunch meat / cold cuts that aren't like anything else you can get here which would have been a nice change.

They had a ton of packaged food to the left of the counter but it was all in German, I assume, instructions as well as what it was. The woman behind the counter was not friendly when I asked some questions about the pre made food in the counter. I am not familiar with German food other than Weinershnitzel and I dont know much about that either other than it tastes good.

I mainly went in here because it was the same name as the restaurant next door that I had just drove an hour to meet up with people to eat at. The restaurant wasn't open so we went in here and were looking around when I asked if she had a bathroom. She told me they did not. Well I am pretty sure that you aren't peeing in your pants there lady, but OK - we walked out with out buying anything. I do hope the lady behind the counter was the owner as rude as she was. I stopped last week at this little hole in the wall which looks from the outside very low maintained and like a abandoned building . I was surprised walking inside as the store was very clean. I was greeted from that little owner lady with a big negative attitude. I tried to stay friendly but that lady just kept being negative with me . This one must be the most unhappiest person in Florida. When I mentioned the prices of the sausages everything escalated even worse. From that moment forward I felt like the police were telling me my rights before handcuffing me . The products on the shelves and in the show case are over priced. I did purchase some meats and the quality of the sausages I bought were not a blow away either. If you go 20 mile north to Federal Hyw and Hillsboro Blvd in Deerfield Beach you will find the real deal. Search for European sausage.
