The Blue House, Fort Lauderdale (Guesthouse) — Hotel in Fort Lauderdale

Stayed here for 2 nights (Nov 2018) during a month long road trip around Florida, out of the 22 different places we stayed in during the month I ranked this 10th overall. The property is located on a busy road which we couldn’t safely turn left across, so we had to drive past and then come back to it on the right hand side. Parking is provided off road between the street and the property. It’s about a 20minute walk to ‘Pirate Republic’ stop of the ‘Water Taxi’, Stranahan House downtown is about a 35minute walk. I was a bit concerned about the entry system as the blurb says no one is on site after 3pm; we were due to arrive around 5pm. However, Cynthia sent me an email a couple of days prior to our arrival date with the code for the front door. Cynthia was actually there when we arrived, but this was unfortunately due to their having been an RTA that morning right outside the property which had wiped out a pylon and had cut off all the power! The electricity was literally reconnected by the power co. as we walked through the front door. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The kitchen was well equipped (only place we stayed with a full oven/stove), although the coffee maker didn’t work very well during our stay. The bedrooms do appear small as the bed takes up nearly all the space, but it is after all just a place to lay your head for a night or so. There was no TV in the bedroom, just one in the decently sized lounge/dining room. There is a guest laundry facility which was most welcome after 10 days on the road, and there is also a nice outdoor area with a grill for all guests to use. This small apartment complex is a mixed bag, but overall disappointing. The "villa" I received was nicely laid out with a particularly generous amount of space devoted to the kitchen. Lots of counter space stretching a full 14 feet on one side. Full sized dishwasher, microwave and oven gave the initial impression that dining in would not be a problem. Some of the things it lacked, like a garbage disposal and a blender, are non essentials and you would have appreciated, but not expected them. The most basic and inexpensive items it lacked were extremely annoying, like no can opener and not one large serving bowl. I had to use a pan as a large bowl for strawberries. Another big negative was in spite of the space the living room provided the mini split A/C unit there produced a loud, high pitched squeal that, after a while, drove you out of the room. Judging from other reviews, some over a year old, this has been a big problem for a while and the same unit every morning produced condensation that dripped onto the couch (mold!). The unit in the bedroom fortunately was silent and much more efficient. I spent much of the stay in the bedroom to escape the noise. Once I became accustomed to the entry from Davie Blvd, the location worked well for me with easy access to 95 and close to my gym. I can add my review now was not happy with the place every time you went to their website one house came up was not the house that I originally looked at but she kept saying she sent me pictures in a drop box as for the swimming pool it was a little above ground pool the website shows a nice in-ground pool I'm used to staying in a five-star place this was a one-star I did get my money back because they refunded it they did not wash the floors every time I took it upon myself to wash the damn floors because my socks were getting filthy the bathroom floor in the shower is peeling up they get this kind of money for this I don't think so beware people I posted earlier yesterday she did not have the decency to call me always a text message they can take this place and stick it where the sun don't shine do not go to a people,, to the people that own this property you need to redo your website for every house that you have that is available and rentable you need to click on the web page of the house that you own that you are renting and you show the pictures how difficult is that you said you were on marketing that's what sure do not act like it and show it get your act together you're taking people's money I'll make sure my friends will never go to it,,,the bed was horrible ,,and the back yard was...
