I had a very negative experience here recently. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. Our waitress was generally attentive and nice until a situation unfolded. She dropped off the check, and I left my card in the book for her. She then took the book with my card in it. Less than 5 minutes later, she returned and dropped off the same receipt without my card in it. I told her that she already took my card, at which point she gave me attitude by saying she hadn’t dropped it off already and that I was mistaken. She then quickly walked away without engaging further. I was flabbergasted that I was dismissed in such a fashion after raising a very valid complaint about the whereabouts of my credit card. I then walked over to the waitress station because she seemingly disappeared, and I spoke with a separate waitress about the situation. She was the one who involved the manager. It took quite awhile for him to come over and talk to us about the situation, and he informed us that their GM would be reviewing the security footage but that it would take awhile as he was out of state. I was confounded as to what could’ve happened in such a short period of time that the security footage needed to be reviewed. I took it upon myself to search the restaurant, while I saw the waitress at fault continuing about her business as if nothing happened. I should note that she only had 2-3 other tables to attend to in the entirety of this scenario and made attempts to actively ignore my table after the complaint was raised. To me, this was very suspicious and concerning behavior. The security footage confirmed that she had taken the card with her from our table, but they were unable to confirm what happened after that point. The manager spent quite some time looking through the trash. I appreciated this effort but thought it made no sense as to why it would’ve been discarded in the trash in the short period that elapsed from the time she walked away from our table. The card was never located, and I ended up cancelling it. I appreciated that the manager seemed to take the situation seriously, but the response from the waitress at fault was very disconcerting. I understand mistakes happen, but please take accountability for your own actions. I am not one to accuse others of theft or malicious intent without grounds, but her behavior was overly defensive and disconcerting given the nature of the situation. I also felt as if she attempted to gaslight me, which is the antithesis of good customer service. If she responded differently and seemed to take my concerns seriously, I would not be posting this review. I have never left a negative review in my life but needed to in this situation as I have never been so poorly treated by restaurant staff before. I appreciate that the store’s manager was doing his best to rectify the situation and provided us with coupons should we choose to return, but this scenario is certainly troubling and potentially indicative of deeper training/hiring/procedural issues in this establishment. Regardless of whether the action that resulted in the loss of my card was accidental or criminal in nature, I surely hope that the employee responsible is severely reprimanded, if not terminated. I will not be returning to this establishment, nor do I recommend anyone...
Read moreMy next-door neighbor and I haven't been out to dinner in a long time so we wanted to go get a bite last night. We started at Eagle's Point and due to it being Bingo night at Eagle's Point we decided on Sickie's. We requested a booth when asked whether we preferred a booth or table. We were sat in a section and waited 10 minutes for our server. Our server seemed as if she was in a terrible mood. Every time she would "check on us" she'd walk by so fast that if we needed something we'd have to yell it because she would already be long past our table. I had to completely turn around in order to ask for ranch because she was so far away by the time she allowed me to answer. She grabbed our plates from in front of us without asking if we were done or asking if she could grab them. I actually would've preferred to take my leftover bacon and chicken for my dogs, but I wasn't given the option. When the manager (assistant GM) Jason walked around we explained our concerns and he advised that he didn't want to address it with the server while we were still there, but he'd definitely have a conversation with her after we left. We didn't see our server again until approximately 20 minutes later when again we had to yell that we wanted our checks because she was so far away and sped by our table. Keep in mind we got there at like 7:45, not right before closing time or anything but it was as if we were bothering her by being there. Both my friend and I got our cards out ready to pay but hadn't seen anyone. The manager came by again and grabbed our cards and ran them for us. I was a bit flabbergasted that he didn't do anything to correct how terrible the service was and I brought it to his attention that it seemed as if he was blowing us off and essentially telling us we're SOL when he admitted he saw her treat us poorly. He apologized and wrote "free meal" on the back of his business card which was appreciated; but it's how it was handled that was so poor. I've only been to sickie's twice (this was my second time - last night) and I don't think we'll be returning. He said the irving location closed due to lack of business and his big project with this store is customer experience and improving the customer experience. I would say they're doing a poor job at it if they have a customer complaint; admit they saw it happen, and do nothing until it's brought to your attention that you did...
Read moreI previously had up a glowing review of this place. I really did enjoy them. But the last couple visits have been poor and the concern seems to fall on deaf ears. I don't think it's asking the world for a simple acknowledgement saying... yeah, we messed this one up. In fact, because prior experiences had been positive, I actually said nothing about the first bad experience. But back to back times? Especially when skimping on food orders? That should at least come with a resounding: "We're sorry, we'll do better." Instead, silence.
The picture included was my recent order of a BEER CHEESE burger. Notice the glaring lack of beer cheese... or the MASSIVE chunk missing out of the patty... or the bacon across only half the given space. Compared to initial visits, this might as well have been an entirely different place.
I even brought up these issues to the waitress, who simply told me they weigh all meat, so it's fine. I did eventually get my beer cheese. Here's the thing though, even if the patty 'weighed' the same... it lacks the surface area for other toppings, where they'll clearly skimp on them. Heck, even for part of that patty, it's missing toppings on an area the chunk isn't missing.
The rusty bucket seasoning? They skimped on it too, massively. While you don't see all my tots in the picture, the rusty bucket seasoning is easy to spot and clearly lacking from the tots in the photo. There was a small amount of tots that seemed to have some, but it was barely there. A stark departure from previous visits.
Add in my visit prior to this one, where they refused to serve me a grilled cheese (which is whatever, I didn't make a scene and politely declined alternative meal options)... but then the waitress refused to acknowledge me, look at me, or refill the tea I had previously ordered. I guess if you order an overpriced tea and sit quietly while the rest of your party eats, you don't deserve refills.
All in all, the service and quality has massively dropped. And this begins with management who has shown no interest in responding to my feedback.
I previously said, this was it. This is where you go if you want to go to a chain burger joint. Now? I'd recommend staying away. It's not the worst place... but it's just 'a' place now....
