Full Disclosure: I'm a Marriott Titanium Elite Member meaning I stay at least 75 nights per year in a Marriott. As of this writing (5/2023) I'm already up to 49 stays in 2023.||In the past, this has been my one of my favorite hotels in Ft. Worth to visit and stay (been here several times in the last 2 years). I love being able to walk across the street to Dutch Bros every day, and there are at least 3 non-chain restaurants within walking distance including a BBQ place, a Cajun Restaurant, and a Mexican Restaurant. Also, if you're a Star Wars fan, I recommend visiting the Holocron Toy Store which is also within a reasonable walking distance from the hotel. Dickies Arena is just about a mile or two north of the hotel if you happen to be going to an event there (I've gone to college basketball games there).||I've been well taken care of by the staff here even getting a suite upgrade once without even asking for it. Was later told that is extremely rare since they happened to have a few available that time. Those upgraded suites are really nice...pretty much like a small apartment complete with a balcony which, depending on which side of the hotel you're on, can offer a view of the railyard across the highway while sipping on your morning coffee on the table and chairs out there.||However, for my most recent stay I had one huge issue. Even though check out is at Noon, housekeeping will insist on knocking loudly at your door at 11 AM even if you have a Do Not Disturb sign on your door. Easily one of my pet peeves for hotels!! I noticed this for other hotel rooms during my stay and had to endure it on my last morning there.||By the way, even though I've stayed here several times, this was the first time housekeeping did this. I was originally only going to knock one star off my rating for this, but upon further reflection decided to go down to 3 stars.||I complained to the front desk and was told several things:||1. "There were over 40 rooms to clean that day and housekeeping didn't want to stay late."||Well then hire more folks or do as much advanced planning as possible for your hotel. I used to work with the Director of Analytics for Hilton. I'm sure Marriott has the same kind of position, and I'm sure they would love to work on some kind of predictive analytics to make sure you have the right amount of staff needed to take care of the number of rooms that need to be serviced on any given day.||2. "Check out time is between 11 and 12. It used to be 11."||Your website, the Marriott app, and documentation all say noon (as of this writing). I don't care what it used to be.||3. "Visitors frequently leave and checkout while leaving the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door."||Fair enough. But give people the benefit of the doubt and wait until noon to start figuring out who is gone and not gone. That sign is there for a reason.||I even postulated what if I was an airline pilot that had a late checkout and was trying to sleep. Waking me up at 11 AM would royally make me upset. Even as an Elite Marriott Member (doesn't matter what type) I can ask for late checkout (I didn't in this case, but the option is there); they don't necessarily have to grant it, but there is still that possibility.||Should also mention this hotel charges $12/day for parking. I'm not quite sure why exactly. It's not a downtown location. The answer I was given was that it sits at the intersection of the medical district, the entertainment district (Dickies), and TCU (bit of a drive though) and gets charged by the City of Ft. Worth for parking so that charge gets passed on to the customer. ||Not sure what to make of that. Didn't realize that cities charge hotels for parking, but what do I know in...
Read moreI have never written a bad review before and I travelled all over the world and stayed at multiple hotels but I think this is important to prevent others from going through what I did ad I often rely on reviews when making decision which hotel to book. I was traveling across the country and because it was already after midnight I couldnt book through my marriot bonvoy account for the night in question. I called towneplace to inquire about availability and that I was going to arrive after 4 am and explain my predicament and the girl at the front desk was short and said she cannot help me and transfered me to reservations dept. That should have been my first clue that she was incompetent as most places the front desk attendant usually can answer these pertinent questions. I was put on hold with reservations for a long time but the lady who answered was nice and helped me book a reservation and when I expressed my concerned about being mark no show because of my late arrival she assured me that she will write in the notes and let the hotel know that I am arriving specifically between 4-5 am and to ensure my room is ready but ask meto pay to hold my room and told me the total price is $116 which I did. when I arrived at the hotel I was met by the most unhospitable girl who took a long time to check in me. She was trying to get a hold of someone and told me that she no showed me because I arrived after midnight and need to charge my card a second time to check me in. I told her first of all I booked this after midnight after the no show time and that I was assured it wouldnt be a problem. She snapped at me and said no one told her and she was the only one working that night. I reminded her that I talked to her prior to reservation and she acknowledge shes aware. She then charged me for $180 for the walk in rate and after arguing with it she realized her mistake and said she will reverse it and then charge me again for $160 and said theres nothing she can do about it. Another rude lady came and snapped at me that this is hotel policy and I have to take this with someone in the morning. This whole ordeal lasted almost an hour and was told that I cannot absolutely stay past noon when I asked for late checkout because we got in late and was tied down due to their mistake. When we finally got into the room and there was a big tear on the carpet in the middle of the room that caught my nail tearing it when I was zipping my suitcase. I checked my credit card and my funds were all tied up because there was several pending charges for $116, $180, $160. I brought it to the attention of the nice morning front desk worker when checking out and she assured me it will be reversed. Well 4 days later I checked my card and I was indeed charged twice for less than 7 hours hotel stay. I called the hotel about it and was told to call again the next day. On the flip side I checked into hampton inn the following night after 2 am and the lady was very nice. She gave me two waters for being a hilton honors member (i was also a marriot bonvoy member) and didnt double charge me and offered me a late checkout because of my late arrival as I may be needing sleep. Unlike towne place Hampton inn smelled nice and the bathroom was clean and carpet looks new and there's just a sense of hospitality spirit in Hilton which reminded me why I typically book Hilton. I would consider other hotels in the area if you want peace of mind and good service. hope this helps someone make a decision...
Read moreThe house keeping was horrible - sometimes they would make one bed sometimes none - once they did make both. They never once restocked our coffee or cream and sugar or paper cups. Once they ran the dishwasher and we came home to suds and water all over the floor. The shower was dirty, they would sometimes replace the towels sometimes not despite them being piled in the tub or on the floor. Sometimes they would bring towels but no face cloths - never did bring me a new dish towel after taking the dirty one. They came to do cleaning at 5:30pm which by then we were back in our room. The trains across the street were crazy loud all night and when it was windy the wind howled noisily through the window or air vents not sure. The smoke detector or whatever on the ceiling flashed brightly periodically in the night. The pool was way too small - for hotel this new and this price in a state as hot as Texas I’m not sure what the idea behind that was but a major disappointment for myself and every person that walked onto the patio ( you need to show the pool on the website). Several guests including myself are there for medical appointments which means they have family and are likely at the hotel during parts of the day so as soon as you get 2 or 3 kids in the pool it’s too loud and rowdy for anyone else. Also they were often out of towels at the pool and when I asked about getting some they said oh we will get some washed and get them to you- however it was so hot that you needed it to put on your loungers to sit and further more who wants to get in a pool and be at staffs mercy waiting and waiting for a towel they claim they are going to wash. The breakfast hours should be an hour longer as it was too busy between 8-9. The girl working had way too much to handle. The coffee was empty every time I went to get some and then I’d wait and wait for more. I waited 20 minutes for eggs one morning, along with 10 or 15 other people. For whatever reason the sheets and mattress cover on the one bed would not stay on, however the other bed fit fine. Upon mentioning this on check out I just got a “sorry about that” which at the price point I paid to stay at this hotel for that long, I was very dissatisfied with...
