Avoid at all costs. This hotel is disgusting and staff is a freaking joke. The first room we were put it did not have a functioning air conditioning unit, the sliding door to the balcony wouldn't open because the track has caked in who knows what, no vent fan and we lost all water to the room three times before they finally moved us to a different room. I ended up fixing the toilet, in the first room, due to it running constantly. The second room had condom wrappers under the bed, a broken microwave, a mini fridge that was missing most of the racks, and ants, so many ants. The third room had a bathroom light that wouldn't turn off, the walls had stuff dried running down them, sticking balcony door, no microwave (we had to repeatedly ask before they finally supplied one), outlets with missing covers, holes in the walls, the elevator makes so much noise it woke us up throughout the night, no vent fan and broken and stained curtains (on the balcony and the shower). The staff gossips about the guests and each other, there is no breakfast (like advertised), the pool is dirty and has glass in it from the broken windows above it, the hot tub isn't functioning, the guest laundry is not functioning, the "tower" reeks of dog feces and urine, the gym equipment is broken, the one functioning elevator in the tower makes unnerving creaking and groaning noises and is missing chunks of floor tiles and is full of graffiti. Requests for sheets and towels frequently required an extended wait, as they didn't have any clean linens. Our teenagers were told they weren't permitted to be anywhere outside of our room or the pool, this included outside on the balcony in our room. We received a letter threatening the throw us out when we had towels drying on the balcony, because they wouldn't dry in the room due to humidity and lack of vent fans causing so much condensation it would, for lack of a better term, rain in the bathroom. We ended up being kicked out for making a complaint about poop in and around the swimming pool. The front desk was made aware of the poop at least 18 hours before we made a actual complaint about it being a health hazard. We were told we were lucky they were gonna let us stay through the days we already paid for and accused our kids of stealing from the "gift shop". When I pointed out that was a lie and the cameras in the "gift shop" would have recorded it and we would have been thrown out when it happened. they told us leave and threatened to call the police on us. I assume they called because a cop showed up at the hotel but never came to talk to us and left. We gladly packed our stuff up and moved to another hotel, where we already had reservations for after our stay at the clarion. They then refused to refund us for the days we already paid for. The grounds are poorly maintained, the building is in a state of severe disrepair, there are used needles all over the place, inside and out. I'm sure I'm still missing stuff. Just avoid this place, unless your a glutton for punishment or have...
Read moreAdmittedly, this was a busy time to book (CSU family weekend/homecoming), which is why I booked (or thought I did) almost two months early. | We drove 8 hours from Omaha and arrived to spend time with our freshman daughter then decided to check in to our hotel room at roughly 9:30 pm. The place was a little run down but looked ok for sleep and to enjoy a hot breakfast (or so we thought...side note; the website says breakfast is included - IT IS NOT). When you get there the front desk has a sign that acknowledges that fact and says the website is indeed incorrect and there is no breakfast included. The sign also says they are working to fix that mistake on the website. Apparently, in 2023, updating a website is hard work because the website still says you get a free breakfast. | I was slightly alarmed when I walked up the check-in area because there were multiple people stacked up to get in, all looking fairly upset. Once it was my turn, I was told that there were no rooms left and that they overbooked multiple people (perhaps this room went to the poor person who got charged multiple hundreds of dollars per night at the gouge rate instead of me, who booked in advance - shady s&^t man). Then I was told that there was an option for me to get a room - they were going to give me a voucher for another property and I would be honored there. No problem except - THE PROPERYT WAS TWO HOURS AWAY!!! I don't know about you, but after driving 8 hours to get there and having toured campus and other areas all day, the prospect of driving two hours away (at 9:30 pm) and then two hours back the next morning, multiple times over the weekend was not very appealing to me. This is where I was told there was nothing else they could do for me (they hadn't actually done anything yet). I declined the voucher and was told, "don't worry, we're not going to charge you for the room." HA!!! | Now we enter scramble mode. As stated, this was a busy weekend so finding a hotel room was not easy. We called around many hotels and finally found one room, which we booked for the only night they had available (which meant we also had to find a room for the next night too). Cost - $400 per night for each hotel = $800 for two nights and a nice move from one hotel to the other in the middle of the weekend. I booked two months early for a bill that would have been ~$250. So, because some hotel chain doesn't understand what a "reservation" actually means (anyone watch Seinfeld:)), I'm out about $550. This is of course, unless Guest Services for Choice Hotels decides to do something (something else I get do...call and argue with a hotel chain and deal with that). No one at the actual hotel was willing to do anything "else" for us - just sent us packing. | Thanks Clarion, Fort Collins for making what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend enjoying family a pain in the A%$...be warned anyone looking...
Read moreThis hotel is not anything like was "advertised". On the booking website, not one of the over 50 pictures showed the significant number of exterior entry doors or the back/side parking lots that are fairly secluded.
The room I was given was an exterior room and the door shut poorly and appeared to have been kicked open previously. The latch bolt worked, but the deadbolt did not, and the handle only opened the door if turned upward.
The room itself was in poor condition. Upon opening the door, I immediately smelled extremely stale smoke even though the hotel was supposedly non-smoking throughout. After running into the door and smoke issues when first getting the room, I attempted to get another room, but was not moved.
The majority of the visitors I saw at this hotel appeared to be "long term stay" residents, with chairs and grills set up outside their rooms. There were regularly gatherings of people outside the rooms on the main floor where I parked and even on the upstairs exterior hallway. There's nothing inherently wrong with long term stay hotels, however this hotel did not purport itself to be such an establishment, and I would not have chosen to stay here if it had been made clear that there were exterior entry rooms or that this hotel was occupied in such a manner. As a single female traveling alone, I felt generally uneasy inside the room and coming and going.
In addition to safety concerns and immediate obvious issues with the room, there were several other issues. The room I was in had a fair amount of water damage on the ceiling and appeared to even have some mold. The air conditioner was set to 64 and it kept the room reasonably comfortable, but was not cooler than 70-72 for the duration. During the day time the room would get a bit warmer/stuffier, so the AC did not appear to be working properly. The toilet barely flushed and the shower was dripping continuously, and the chair beside the bed had several "stains" on it.
The bedding was clean and reasonably comfortable, however it was not enough to make up for the shortcomings of the room. Also, the exterior rooms get the joy of hearing the semi trucks coming and going through the lot next door all night long, as well as the trash truck that shows up at 4:00 am on Wednesday mornings apparently.
I would not recommend this room to anyone. If the pictures online had even showed a hint of what the actual state of the hotel was with the parking/exterior room situation, I would never have...
