I like that it’s clean and most employees are friendly. I choose this place due to the fact they have an outside pool, as well as a inside heated pool and hot tub. It’s not the Sheraton, but it’s suitable for the price. The breakfast buffet is awesome! One thing I have to say, while staying at this hotel last month while visiting, someone Who was staying here, decided to have a Birthday party. I guess they thought they could use the pool and the picnic table area for their party. There were a lot of adults and children in that whole area. I wanted to use the pool, but they’re we’re just tons of kids everywhere. They also brought in a huge grill 🤭 by the pool. Can you believe this. No one From the hotel confronted anybody all day. Finally around 630 A fight was getting ready to break out Between two adults and they were screaming and hollering and cussing all while in front of all these kids. Eventually the police were called, this was a mess. I told the front desk and of course they said they had already called the police. I asked to speak to the owner and so the following morning I spoke with him and told him how disappointed I was and that I wasn’t able to use the pool or the hot tub all day because of this party going on. He apologized and said nothing more. I explained to him the reason why I chose this hotel was the indoor and outdoor pool as well as the hot tub and I could not use it all day. He said nothing about any type of compensation. A few hours later he ask me to come to his office where he was speaking to a police officer and he wanted me to tell them what I saw. His intention was to charge the person who was staying at his hotel with some type of charge because they used his hotel to have a big giant birthday party. So the police officer had a call and had to leave abruptly. This was pretty funny seeing he wanted to get some type of compensation for them using his hotel to have a party, but he didn’t wanna compensate me. Before I left I said seeing that I could not use the pool and the hot tub all day and I had to listen to all this noise of kids running around, screaming and then eventually the fight situation, I asked to him, what can You do to compensate me? He said he would think about it and let me know. He never answered the question never did nothing. And I forgot to mention my room was right beside the pool and the picnic tables so you can imagine how irate...
Read moreTRAVELER BEWARE!!!!!!!This was probably one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. They falsely advertise that they've got a swimming pool and jacuzzi but both are out of service until further notice. The restaurant (The Bearded Monkey) attached to the hotel is also closed until further notice. They also do not offer complimentary coffee in the lobby...only hot water. The rooms stink so badly of stale smoke. There is suspicious activity in the parking lot at night. I was solicited by a sketchy individual asking me for money and then asking if Id pay for a hotel room for him there at the Clarion. The entire top floor is condemned and they've got ply wood holding it up and yellow tape wrapped around the whole building. We had to switch rooms within 20 mins of being there and our second room wasnt any better. The toilet leaked from the bottom every time you flushed and when you showered water leaked from around the tub so the floor stayed flooded. A maintenance person caulked the toilet after I argued with him that it was indeed leaking and if he would just take a look and flush the toilet he would see that water would begin to pool around the bottom. Also, they charged us a random $57 for incidentals that we were told we would get back at the end of our stay. When we checked out they said that the fee wasnt showing up in their computer so i showed them my receipt where i was charged and the front desk refused to release the money back to my card and said that the fee didnt even make sense because they charge $50 for incidentals so she didnt know where the $57 went and even though it was charged to my card and was printed on my receipt she said she wouldn't release the money to my card and to call the general manager which I did and they also did Not release the money back to my card, they refused to do so. Something is very fishy about that and Im guessing the front desk associate pocketed my money for herself. Worst experience. The hotel staff are thieves. Do not waste your...
Read moreWe live in NC and my wife's family is near Buffalo so we've stopped at this place for years as its at a good halfway point on our route. The location is perfect as its on the main road - we don't have to drive around town looking for it. It's dog friendly (there is an additional pet fee) and we like that we can park right outside our room.
There used to be a bar called Yakadoos which we loved (full of crazy locals!) but that closed after covid but the good news is that finally after waiting several years it has reopened as "the Bearded Monkey" and its just as good as before - the staff were super-friendly and the food portions (we had fish and chips) were big. Staying at this place and going to the bar on a Friday night before Christmas is one of our annual traditions. The Friday we visited before Christmas they had line dancing, which my wife loved.
There's a hot breakfast too (make-it-yourself waffles, sausage, eggs) which sets us up for a long drive and again the guy working was really friendly.
The hotel is being refurbished at present so there is a lot going on, but our room had everything we needed - was clean, quiet and comfortable. On our most recent trip my wife left her wedding and engagement ring in the bedside drawer and only noticed after we'd driven 2 hrs North (yes, that's what I thought too). We gave them a call and they found it and kept it in the office safe for us to pick up on our way home. The guy at reception is always really friendly and when we returned to pick up the rings he apologized that we had to wait 15-20 minutes for the manager to open the safe (she made a special trip back for us to do that). No apology needed! We were so thankful they found them and looked after them for us. They even had the Buffalo Bills game on the TV in reception so we could watch the Jets getting schooled while we waited.
This place isn't a destination hotel, but for us when we're traveling its a friendly, comfortable and convenient...
