Avoid this hotel at all costs, especially if you are disabled.
Guest laundry didn't work, code violations in the shower, nasty assistant manager named Dee, scribbles on the walls and scuffs from other guests that were not cleaned up, toilet paper holder moves around an tp falls, towel hanger falling off the wall, bathroom door filthy, my cards were encoded for a late check-out at noon so they stopped working at 11:00, they record both audio and video at the front desk which is illegal in the state of Virginia without our permission, we asked for quiet room because my daughter is very ill and we're traveling for medical to Johns Hopkins and she also has autism and they put us next to a room with two screaming kids and when I told them the kids were screaming they said oh we have to wait till 10:00, she never offered to move us to acquired a room, the next day the kids ran all over the place and screamed more at 7:00, the thermostat didn't work correctly and neither had a hot or cold setting either cooling or heating not a universal thermometer like most hotels put in and as they were renovated 2 years ago they should have put that in, the thermostat was dirty where it had not been wiped off since the last guest, and the list goes on.
When I ask for the manager I was giving the current front desk manager who was under the woman who was very rude to us the night before. Dee, the assistant manager I spoke to and we checked in, illegally asked me the extent of my daughter's allergies. While I can tell her if I wish to, under the Americans with disability Act she can't ask for details, that's illegal.
When I tried to talk to the current front desk manager, Dee came over and started defending herself very hostile manner. I said this is exactly what I don't want to be doing and instead I'll just email the CEO of IHG who knows who I am because I've done advocacy with him before.
When I came down to check out I said something to her and she said well if you don't want us to we won't comp it we were going to comp your stay until you opened your mouth, that's a paraphrase. Then she and her front desk manager took 5 minutes to figure out how to zero out my folio and print it out for me.
When we checked in, Dee had to call her manager for information about the Americans with disability Act because she wasn't trained. That alone is reason enough not to go to this hotel and not to frequent any IHG Holiday inn Express hotels.
Right before we checked in we watched Dee interact with someone about the price of a room and I had to step in and tell the gentleman that he can get an IHG membership and save 10 or $15 on the room. Dee was more concerned with the maximum she could rent the room for instead of giving the IHG service which is to always suggest ways for people to save money at the hotel including getting an IHG membership. We are IHG members.
Between the code violations with screws coming out of the plumbing, the cleanliness issues with the housekeeping staff not properly wiping down the thermostat or the walls, the smell in the room which was overly floral due to overuse of disinfectants and cleaners, and the attitude of the assistant manager, I suggest you steer clear.
If the hotel illegally violating civil rights laws by using video recording that also captures audio in their lobby and perhaps other places in their hotel, that they say are only for internal process, isn't enough to make this a really creepy place to stay, the fact that the front desk manager and the assistant manager both told me what they were doing is legal and when I read the law back to them they still would not believe, their general lack of knowledge of the laws that they are breaking should be enough to keep you away.
A few other things my daughter reminded me of: they share the outdoor pool with the Clarion which is right next door which is a cut rate hotel; I was told that the guest laundry wasn't working in the hotel and to use the clarion's guest laundry; the parking lot is shared with clarion; no celiac or allergen...
Read moreWe arrived at this hotel middday on April 24th after driving many hours from Northern CT. Our reason for this trip was unfortunately due to my partner’s grandfather passing, a man that helped raise him and whom he was very close to.
The woman who checked me in was extremely kind, as my partner had earlier called and let her know that I would be the one checking in while his family was meeting to discuss how to move forward. It wasn’t until Saturday, April 26th that we had a very large safety issue with the hotel. After spending the morning visiting the future gravesite for his grandfather at Quantico National Cemetery, we arrived back to the hotel late afternoon/ early evening exhausted. We decided to run inside to take a nap and that we would grab dinner after. When we got back outside around 8pm, we were shocked to discover that my partner’s vehicle was flooded up to the middle of his tires. I slowly walked up to the car and the water reached the bottom of my knees. At 8:15pm, we decided it would be best to try to push the SUV out of the water to prevent flooding the engine. Pretty quickly into this happening, a kind older gentleman noticed us, ran inside to inform the person at the desk, and grab his son to help my partner push the vehicle out of the water. I feel it is important to note that despite the receptionist being aware, she did not send anyone to even check on the situation. After the three men pushed the car out of the water and I drove it to a non-flooded area of the parking lot, we decided to go inside to speak to the receptionist. We immediately explained the situation, which she confirmed that she had heard about. She quickly stated that something like that had never happened before. We knew this was a lie because as we were assessing the situation outside, a different bystander informed us the same thing had happened to their family member a week prior. She once again dismissed us and told us that it had “down-poured” and there was “nothing to be done.” We asked to speak to Taylor, the manager listed, and she sharply said that SHE is Taylor. We tried to explain how this is a huge safety issue and quite negligent of the hotel, she shrugged and once again repeated that she didn’t control the weather. My partner and I walked away while I quickly called customer support. After explaining the situation, the support agent explained that due to the gravity of the situation, she would have to escalate the issue to a higher agent and gave me a case number. I have tried to get in touch again as it has been over a week, and I have gotten no update.
We did unfortunately have to stay at this hotel again from this past Wednesday to Sunday but only because other family members had already booked it and asked that we stay at the same place as them for convenience. It was less than satisfactory, especially when housekeeping opened our door at 8:30am on Sunday without allowing us first to tell them we were in bed. Other issues included loudness within the hotel as well as outside that could be heard at all hours of the day/night as well as watered down shampoo, and half...
Read moreI have sent the email below three times to the General Manager and he just doesn't care. He has ignored my email three times. (Also, I sent him 22 pictures, but unfortunately I can upload here just six of them).
I have stayed at different Holiday Inns for many years and was shocked at what I experienced at your hotel during my stay. I understand the building is under renovation, but that is not an excuse to not pick up the trash around the exterior of the building as well as clean the interior of rooms.
To start, as soon as we arrived and got out of my pickup truck, my wife and I noticed a lot of trash as we approached the lobby entrance. It really looked like a trashy hotel. We were very upset and my wife wanted to cancel the reservation, but I reminded her that if we did we would lose the money, so we entered and walked toward the front desk. We continued seeing more trash. We checked in around 8:30 pm. We got our keys and headed to the room. Once in the room, there were more issues. We opened the curtains and saw what appear to be bird poop on the other side of the windows, the inside back of the microwave was dirty, the carpet was dirty with red stains and had some holes in it. The toilet bowl has serious stains in it which makes it looks filthy. The toilet paper roll was placed on top of the toilet tank because there was not TP holder. In addition, there was a worker making loud noises at that time of night. Also, when we went to take a shower, the water was not hot; it was barely warm. While taking the shower, the bathtub started getting clogged. Water was above my ankles. I started moving the bathtub stopper and it was obvious that it did not work because it just came off. After it came off, the water started going down. Also, the chair in the room has stains on it. The next morning we were awakened at around 8:00 am by the noise of the workers. When I went to get ice the ice machine on the 5th floor wasn’t working so I went down to the 4th floor and a construction worker was blocking access to the machine there.
While leaving the hotel there was more trash at the back of the building. I am attaching pictures, not only of the trash but also of everything I am mentioning in this email so you can have a better idea of what I’m talking about (22 pictures). Please see the attachments below.
I am requesting compensation for the inconveniences we experienced while staying at your hotel. I have always received high quality service from Holiday Inn but this time I did not receive it. Again, remodeling does not mean that the surroundings and entrance of the building needs to be full of trash and does not mean that the carpet can be dirty and stained. Nor does it mean that the windows need to have poop, inside the back of the microwave can be dirty, that the water doesn’t have to be hot, the bowl of the toilet has to be stained and the stopper of the bathtub has to be broken. Very disappointed.
You can give me a credit to my credit card for the inconveniences. I’m expecting a credit from your...
