After arriving from a long day of traveling, I set up my wife's peritoneal dialysis machine for a 9 hour treatment. Set up takes about 30 minutes plus unloading the car to stay, which we are glad for the first floor exterior entrance. All in all, she hooked about 10:30-11p.m. went to get into bed and pulled back the sheets to find they were dirty on the first bed, so our 19 year old daughter pulled the sheets back on the second bed only to find the sheets were dirty to include urine stains and hair.
I called the front desk immediately to request clean sheets. The wonderful ladies working said they did not have access to clean sheets. Instead, they would just relocate us to a different room, hoping it would be clean.
I explained that we could not move my wife or machine at this point because she had already hooked up for treatment.
The front desk staff requested I come to the front office while they attempted to find clean sheets. Apparently, at 9 p.m. the lobby is closed, requiring you to use a bank style drive thru. This is where I spent the next hour waiting for sheets.
After being given the sheets, I went back to the room to change them out. I do understand things happen in hotels. However, what I found only made angered and sickened me further. When I pulled the sheets off the first bed, closest to bathroom, we found burn marks, urine stains and what appeared to be dried blood on the mattress pad. The second beds mattress pad was not as bad, yet still looked unsanitary. Seeing how we could not really do much better at the time we coverd the bed with blankets we keep in the car, before putting the sheets on the bed.
My daughter had started to pull the pillowcases during this, which we did not receive any that were clean to find the very first one to be urine stained in multiple locations. I told her to stop and went back to the front office to request clean pillowcases and pillows. Of course, as luck would not be on our side, there were none.
I knew that nothing could or would be done at this point. I told the front desk staff we would go without just refund our money. I was told she did not know how, which I think was easier to tell, that the morning staff would take care of refunding our money. As I am sure you can guess, that did not did not occur.
I left my name and number for the manager to call about the ordeal and have not received any correspondence as of 12/03, when has been the first time I have had a chance to fill this survey out.
I stay at another Days Inn 11/29-12/02 in Ypsilanti, MI. As with any retail business, while you strive for perfection, you might not be able to get it fully, but knowing your areas of opportunity with a willingness to overcome those areas, this hotel had a few. It was clean and comfortable, the staff, while not very personable, were still friendly when spoken to and treated my wife and with respect and courtesy. The manager was friendly and kept a nice establishment. But that is for another time and review.
The Monroe motel needs a health inspector to go through the entire premises. There are a few other sanitary issues which I will state and have photographic evidence to back my findings.
Blood on the shower curtain Blood smeared on the wall Bugs on the floor and squished under the phone Debris visable behind the night stand to include grape seeds and vines No lid on coffee maker with the cord jammed in water reservoir Used coffee pod still in the coffee maker The cord to the hair dryer should have been white and looked like it came out of the trash And one of the worse parts was the bottom of my daughter and wifes feet were black from the floors.
Seeing how it has taken me a week to write this I will give you time to respond before I call the health inspector and or Detroit news station. I understand that this is a franchise but it operates under the guise of Wyndham Hotels and is a stain on...
Read moreThe front desk staff we would give a 5 star (they were polite and friendly.),but the rest NO STARS!!! ; when we arrived on Friday evening and checked in we were given keys to room 111, upon entering the room it reaked of smoke (in a non smoking room), went back to front desk, was given key to 112. Room had strong doggie oder but was other wise clean and neat. Went to store to purchase room fresheners. The room was vacant of TV remote (could turn TV on & change channels but unable to control volume.) Also there was packets of coffee but no coffee maker. On Saturday when we left we told housekeeping we were leaving for a few hours. When we returned to the room around 10:30 pm the room had not been cleaned, nor clean washcloths or towels put out. We called front desk to request fresh washcloths and towels and a TV remote. Was told that housekeeping left at 4 pm and would not be able to get washcloths or towels until the morning, which we never got even Sunday morning. SO 3 ADULTS & A 12 year old boy HAD TO USE THE SAME ONES FROM FRIDAY!!!! Which was 2 washcloths, 1 hand towel & 2 bath towels. We were told that maintenance would bring us a remote. Which we never got. We also on Saturday night requested a late Sunday noon departure, they said yes. At 8 am Sunday there was a loud knock on the door, staff wanting to know if we were checking out today!!! Also there was Graffiti on the wall by the bed next to the bathroom. Pool closed: when I was booking for our stay one of the reasons I chose this place was because it had a swimming pool. The night we arrived we saw a big sign near the pool that said the pool was closed. When I asked about the sign they said that the pump had quit working and that they were trying to get it fixed. Upon checking out Sunday I mentioned that, that was one of the reasons I had chosen this place. She asked how I booked and I said by third party booking a week half ago, she said that they just reported it yesterday. The night before as we were looking for the ICE machine we walked past the pool area and saw green algae growing in the pool. The sign out front for Days Inn & Suites is VERY difficult to see from the road. There are two Wyndham hotel signs by the road, but the one for Days Inn is very poorly lit you really have to look to see it. The one sign is up high and the Days Inn is down low by the shrubs.
We do alot of traveling and I look for good reasons to give hotels and resturants 5 star ratings when possible. But when one falls short I will not give a 5 star rating where it is...
Read moreThis was the absolute worst motel experience I've ever had in my life. I wish I could give negative stars.
We arrived at 4:22. Check in is at 3:00. The room was not ready nearly am not and a half after it was supposed to be cleaned and ready.
I told clerk day before that I was disabled. They put us in a regular room. They're weren't even grab bars in the bathroom. They tried to switch us to a room with 1 king bed for 4 people. They didn't do anything except move us back to original room.
The wallpaper was peeling and torn.
The bed had blood and coffee strained sheets
The phone didn't work The bathroom fan didn't work.
The night desk clerk made snide remark to my husband about me; "You know women" when I complained that they gave us 2 small towels for 4 people.
The toilet didn't flush. I had to fix it myself because the maintenance guy was "busy."
They have us 2 towels for 4 people. Then they refused to give us an adequate number of towels for 2 adults, a 13 girl, and an 8 year old boy. No washcloths were provided at all.
There were 3 hangers in a room rented to 4 people. I guess they think you'll take turns.
Room description states: There is a desk. There isn't. Ironing board and iron. There isn't. Alarm clock. Nope.
There were cobwebs all over ceiling. All the furniture was super dusty.
They made the bed with the top sheet over the comforter. It's like they never made a bed before in their lives.
There was a large gap at the door frame. It looked like someone tried to pry the door open. Both light and insects got in through the rather large gap.
4 of the 5 lightbulbs over the vanity were burned out or missing.
When I asked about missing items (ironing board, iron, washcloths) the desk clerks were nasty and blamed guests for stealing the items. Seriously? Guests steal the desks and ironing boards and irons? Baloney!
There are a lot of hotels and motels right next to and across the road. This place clearly doesn't care at all about guests. Next year we'll definitely stay at one of the other hotels.
Do yourself a favor. Avoid this place at all costs. Sleeping in your...
