I haven’t been to a Red Lobster in well over 2 decades, because my last experience was not the greatest to say the least. So I figured I’d go and try it again since I am a huge fan of seafood.
Now with other types of food specialty places you can get away with a lot and still make 3, 4, and in some cases 5 stars. Poorly cooked vegetables, meat that wasn’t the way people wanted it, but they took it anyways, under seasoned dishes, unclean booths, menus, restrooms, etc... However, seafood is an industry that can’t afford these mistakes, especially when the market fluctuations for particular catches fluctuates so much.
So, when I decide to dine at a place I know I’m spending at least $50 at for one plate, everything, and I mean everything had better be excellent.
So here’s the list of what was wrong.
1). Lobster bisque was off. Wasn’t creamy enough, and tasted watered down.
2). Caesar salad dressing was off too. Too watery, the lettuce was off too. Like they’d washed it, but didn’t bother to strain it so it retained a lot of the water.
3). Had the Seafarers Feast. It looked like it had been sitting under a red light for some time. The rice was probably the worst part about it. Rice should never be crunchy especially if it’s the main carb on the plate.
4). Dirty menus. I despise filthy menus, you just know they have their servers wipe down with nasty rags they use to clean the tables with, cause a film has developed over the plastic. Disgusting... Not what I want to see when I’m looking at the food I’m trying to get worked up to pay the money they are asking for.
Overall though the cleanliness of the place was good. I didn’t see a lot of trash, scraps, or anything else under tables. Regardless as I aaid before seafood restraunts can’t afford to make any mistakes. The money they are asking for is just too high to be playing the games of a basic diner.
I won’t be dining at anymore Red Lobsters ever again, unless someone else is paying. I’d apologize if my review was harsh, but I take food seriously, especially the...
Read moreHope they get better. My family has made a habit of visiting Monroe Red Lobster on trips to Detroit. It is much cleaner than our local RL, and has generally been good. Last night we stopped in on the way back from Monster Jam. My wife and I each ordered the Lobster Feast, and my Brother in law ordered an Admiral's feast I think...the one with crab legs. The entrees arrived and the lobster tails looked decidedly smaller than the ones on the menu, but ah well. The rock lobster tails were overcooked and nearly impossible to remove from the shells without destroying them. The baked lobster tails seemed to have been frozen, thawed, refrozen, and thawed again because they were absolute mush. My brother in law ordered a loaded baked potato that he was charged for, but came out with no toppings. We asked for ranch with our biscuits twice and it never arrived. There was a mix up on my brother in law's drinks (which was corrected and apologized for). Then after dropping off the check we waited 10 minutes for the waitress to come back and pick it up. Servers....NEVER DO THIS when tables have small kids. When it is time to go the kids get very restless. Server was polite, and I feel that the effort was there, but we were a late table that was tucked in the back. Overall, the (3) $40+ meals we had were less appetizing than carry out from Long John Silvers. This is our 4th time at this particular RL. I feel like maybe they are just training new cooks? Or at least hopefully. I don't feel we will be as likely to stop back on our next trip north. The kid's chicken tenders were great, my teen son's steak was on point, and the crab legs my bro in law got were good. The lobster across the board was awful. When lobster is the name of your business you need to get that right...especially during lobster fest. Honestly I should have sent back all 3 feasts and just gotten chicken tenders, but we ate it, so I said nothing and paid for it. My wife is a restaurant manager, so we try not...
Read moreMy family went here yesterday for dinner. RED LOBSTER in MONROE,Mi To say our experience was bad, is an understatement. 100% We were seated right away. When we were seated the room was nearly empty.. The waitress came over to our drink orders. When she finally came back later without our drinks she took our dinner orders. We waited almost 20 minutes or more just to get our drinks. No straws to drink our drinks with.. we waited and waited We waited patiently... The room started to get more customers by this time
The waitress said she would bring bread to us...we waited again patiently... still,no bread delivered to our table. As we watched her go to other tables, that came in long after we arrived, take over their orders, bringing them drinks, straws, breads etc and better yet,... their entire meals.. We watched tables come and go before we got our food.. As my family sat there basically completely ignored.. I asked our waitress for straws, a simple request, and nothing... I had to ask a different waiter for help. Still no bread...no straws... Finally after sitting there waiting for well over 45 minutes to an hr... I believe it was the supervisor that began to bring out our meals.. Then the waitress tried to take over passing out our meals.
We spent a lot of money there for our food yesterday ... and the service we received was soooo unsatisfactory... As we asked for containers to pack up and our bill she said sure.. again.. we waited and waited.. then she started cleaning off tables... Finally she brought containers and wouldn't you know, the waitress brought out a basket of biscuits. . Yesterday was was supposed to be a night shared with laughter with my family but instead it was a complete nightmare. I was and still am so upset over this.. I hope management sees this. Because our experience and family...
