Unfortunately, my experience at this Marriott has been extremely poor. I travel to Monroe once a month for business meetings. I drive 9-12 hours depending on traffic and just need a clean quiet place to sleep. My first night staying went well and being the only Marriott around stayed my second night. Upon checking in the second night as I rolled down the bed I found a lot of hair on the sheets. Almost guarantee they were not changed. I asked to be moved which they did as well as told me that management would follow up the next day. The room they moved me to had a door that would not shut and you could see the hallway through the door. I mentioned this at checkout and again no follow-up. After that experience, I asked the young lady working if you could request rooms and I was told yes. After booking my next stay I requested a room … and was told absolutely no problem we have it in our system. After driving 12 hours due to traffic I pull in to park and find the parking lot full of trash. Building doors were filthy a lady was dragging her child on the floor in the lobby and you can imagine they did not have room for me. I explained when I requested my room I needed a quiet area and was there just for business. So they put me on the third floor next to the elevator and at midnight I had to turn on my TV just to drown out the hallway noise and kid screaming. The shower in that room had horrible water pressure and you are starting to see a pattern. I asked to speak to management and was told I was not able to and never received a follow-up. The majority of my career was spent with Disney at the corporate level and I’ve seen it all in my career. This property is not or should not be branded a Marriott. This is on par with an econo lodge or budget offering. Attitude is a reflection of leadership. I can walk into any property and by certain aspects tell you the strengths and weaknesses and unfortunately this property needs a complete overhaul. Corporate should come in and take a good look as this would not be a property I wanted tarnishing my reputation. My opinion of Marriott has changed after this experience. I used to believe that you were never getting first class but the properties were a better standard than your budget hotel. The pictures are just a small amount of the trash I saw. It was there when I checked in as well as when I...
Read moreThe hotel was clean and in a good location. That's the good part.
Now for the "not so nice" parts: If you get a room facing the highway, you will be overwhelmed by the traffic noise. The hotel was not built with any sound insulation and it is very loud 24 hours a day from I-75 traffic. Made it hard to sleep and frequently woke me up.
Breakfast is severely lacking. Two small aluminum heater pans with small amounts of sometimes pre-packaged eggs. The coffee seems to always be lukewarm.
I was awoken the first two nights of my stay with "noise complaints" from the people on the floor below me. Apparently, while I was sleeping, I morphed into "several people" and was stomping around in my room, harassing the people in the room under me. I get that the noise complaint must be addressed by the hotel staff, but how about doing a little research and noticing that the room with one person in it late at night during a work week is probably NOT the cause for "several people stomping around"? And, after being told that I was the only person in the room the first night they called, they called me AGAIN the second night for the same reason. The hotel is not that large, why not send someone to the problem floor and walk the hallway? Is it necessary to wake someone up at 10:30 each night when they are getting up at 5am?
There is only one front desk staff worker that seemed to care about employees - the rest were standoffish and slightly rude. I am not asking you to kiss my butt while I am there, but I think that you could at least pay attention to what the guests are telling you and correct YOUR issues when a guest...
Read moreWe arrived at 1pm, they said our room was not ready. Came back at 2:30pm, still not ready. This time we waited in the lobby. When we first arrived we requested a room on the quieter side of the motel, and that I was allergic to feather pillows. So when they finally put us in a room, it was facing I75, we called the front desk, repeated we preferred the quieter side of the motel, we went back downstairs. They sent us up to another room, right next to the elevator 🤷♀️ but it was on the quieter side of the motel…BUT it had 4 feather pillows. We had 2 beds, only used one, mattress was on the soft side. We found 4 polyester pillows. We had ample closet, storage space. Nice sz. frigerator/freezer. Had a toaster & coffee maker, nice lighting. Had a Table w/4chairs & a comfy chair with ottoman. The bathroom had 2 drawers & storage shelves under vanity. I wish they would have had 2 or 3 hooks to hang clothing & bath towels on some where near the shower area. We did use the pool once, it was on the cool side but clean. All and all we had a nice room, staff were nice as well. I just think they are understaffed. | breakfast / bar / lobby area of the motel seats 150 people. The breakfast was okay. Waffles, muffins, cold /hot cereal, different eggs daily. Coffee was okay, they did have...
