Got in early at 8:30 am from a redeye flight. Asked if there would be any chance of checking in early, which I had indicated on an earlier request. The response was that I should come back at 1:00 PM, but that they would call me if anything opened up. Of course, no call back, so I came back at 1:30, and checked in. As a silver elite One Rewards member, I am a reasonably frequent flyer, but there was no apology for not being called (this was the same front desk person who spoke with me earlier), and no sense that I could be treated better. I was, however, spared being put by the elevator as requested, and was given a nice room, however, on the noisy side. You should ask for the back of the building, if possible (away from Virginia Avenue), which is quieter. One morning the maintenance folks at Target decided to leaf-blow the front of the store at 2:45 am, although this happened only once in the 7 nights that we stayed. Having Target right there, however, is a fine benefit. The room was spacious, and appointed with dishes, silverware, a microwave, Mr. Coffee-type coffee maker and a full size refrigerator - quite nice. This is an older building, and, as some have mentioned, deserves a refurbishing - but the price is great! On Saturday I asked if the room could be cleaned on Sunday. I was told that they normally would not do this, but would make an exception. On Sunday night when we returned, the room had not been cleaned, so I called the front desk to see why not. The lady explained that they never do that on Sunday, but would I PREFER Monday? I said I actually would prefer Sunday, and at that point she hung up on me. I called back and scheduled Monday for cleaning, and she mercifully had a couple sets of towels sent up. Cleaning on Monday was fine, but on Tuesday, the housekeepers took the used towels, but did not leave clean ones. I got some from the front desk. During our stay, for the first day, one of the two elevators was out of service. On the second day the elevators stopped on each floor instead of going directly to the floor you desired. Luckily, this was remedied the following day. As a result, the staff is eager to grab any available elevator car, and would never defer to customers even though they often had large carts while hauling garbage. It would be good if they had a freight elevator. Overall, this is an excellent bargain of a hotel, which could be rated much higher if the staff were trained better, although I understand the difficulties in attracting and retaining great employees. With free parking and complimentary breakfast, a spacious room and comfortable bed, I can look past some of the flaws in service and recommend this hotel, although without...
Read moreMy husband and I recently stayed 2 nights at this Staybridge Hotel - one on my account and one night on his account using reward points earned. We were on a month long road trip and used several Staybridge Hotels over the month because we really like them. This hotel near Denver city centre is obviously one of their older hotels as it looked worn, tired and in some areas very dirty. We went down for breakfast on the first morning and there was no bread, spoons, fruit, cereal was all over the floor and being crushed in, coffee not replenished, no glasses for juice, several tables were left dirty, the rubbish bins were filthy, the carpet beneath a few of the tables were disgusting with food lying around and where the trash bin was. There was no sign of anyone working in the breakfast area keeping things stocked up and tidying up. I went to the front desk and asked if anyone was working in the breakfast area as it was filthy and within a couple of minutes 2 men appeared and started tidying up.
Also our room was far from the elevator so we used the back stairwell. We were on the 3rd floor. The carpet on the stairwell is also disgusting and not been cleaned in a long time. There are lots of large stains and several pieces of litter. This stairwell led to an exit door which was left open every time we passed. This door leads out to the main road so anyone could get access to the rooms from this open door. Not a very good security risk. Also there was an empty pack of 6 beer bottles and cigarette butts by this door.
We had booked 2 nights - one on my account and one on my husbands account. I had written before our stay and asked that the 2 bookings be linked. On arrival we were told we wouldn't need to check out and check in again but the next day our key wouldn't work so when we went back to reception to query it we were told we were supposed to check out and check in again. I had also asked for a late check out on the 2nd day as we had a later flight home and again this seemed to be added to my booking after the first day and not my husbands account on the 2nd day so the desk again denied all knowledge of being asked about the late check out. The staff really couldn't be bothered.
We normally love the Staybridge Suites but this one unfortunately was way below the normally...
Read moreThis hotel does not meet the standards i've grown to expect from Staybridge Suites and IHG. While there may be good rooms at this hotel, the 3 different ones we ended up with were very disappointing.
First room: Second floor, smelled strongly of bleach, but had bathroom issues as pictured, as well as the toilet barely flushed. So we went back to the front desk to request a different room.
Second room: First floor, toilet worked great, bathroom cleanliness was acceptable. We settled in then went to leave to get some things from the grocery store across the street. Which is when we discovered that the door wouldn't completely close and/or lock. So we went back tot he front desk.
Third room: Initially, couldn't open the door. Key scanned and flashed green but the door seemed like it was locked from the inside. Went back to the front desk and was told that some of the doors you have to pull up instead of down. That worked. Got into the room and it smelled slightly smokey but not enough to bother us. Toilet again didn't flush well. The picture attached shows that the dresser wouldn't close. You can push the drawers in but then they slowly roll back out over a few minutes so that by the time you walk by again, you slam your leg into the sharp corners. Remote control for the TV was missing it's back and battery. We put our own batteries in it but it still wouldn't work. Went back to the front desk and was given another remote, which didn't work either so we gave up,
Event though we're staying in Denver for 2 more days, we chose to not try and stay at this hotel again because of all these issues. It's disappointing because the location is great. It's right next to a wonderful walking/biking trail along Cherry Creek. Plenty of nearby food and shopping options all within walking distance. I would have liked to stay at a location like this all week but after the first 2 days, and 3 rooms, that was enough for me.
Cannot recommend. I would give it 1 star if it weren't for the location and for the front desk's helpfulness under the...
