EDIT Just realized, Google posted this to the wrong hotel. Way to go! Sorry guys.
My Family and I are quite the travelers, my Grandma has stayed in a million hotels and she states that this one is by far the worst. I understand this hotel was opened after remodel for the first of October 2013, So I don't know the conditions of the hotel prior. To put it simply, the free WiFi was the saving grace of our trip. Due to it being close to Halloween, my Mother could only book a room here because everywhere else was booked, so It was a last minute decision, and a poor one. I don't even know where to start! On the website(s), there is NO WHERE stating that Hyatt Place is a non-full service hotel. It's practically a motel. There is no valet, no one helping you with your luggage and it seemed they were short on staff. When my family did have interactions with the staff, they were moderately nice. When we first checked in, there was no one at the desk for a few moments but when a girl did get to the desk, she was quite nice. Because there was no room service, My mother and I spent a lot of time down at the bar/restaurant. This hotel claims they have Starbucks coffee, which my Mom ordered. The man and woman who were there at the time seemed unsure about which one of them was going to make it. The woman was obviously too lazy and began cheering on the man, who had no idea what he was doing. To say the least, the coffee was terrible. My brother also ordered a piece of cheesecake that was around the consistency of play-dough, it was also terrible. The breakfast was OK. It was displayed nicely and everything looked clean, however cleanliness is not a substitute for imitation eggs. The french toast was OK, Breakfast sandiwches were too salty. You know, the "All American Breakfast."
The rooms were a different story. My family was pleased with how roomy the room was, however the two queen beds were TERRIBLE, complete bricks. The pull out sofa bed was more comfortable than the actual beds. The sheets/bedding was horrible, they were stiff and noisy, like sleeping with a shower curtain or a piece of paper. There was also some staining on a few of the sheets that were questionable. The air conditioning/heater was the loudest thing we've ever heard, we couldn't even get the thing to work properly, as it wouldn't keep the room at a constant comfortable temperature. This weekend wasn't windy at all, however the large window in our room would constantly pop and crack loudly throughout the night/day. My mother thought it was strange that we had two beds, four people but only one sink in the bathroom. The maids seemed to skip out on cleaning duties as well. The toilet wasn't completely clean as well as they didn't remove any dishes or trash we had kindly gathered for them as there wasn't any liners in the trash cans; so my mother also played Maid and carried down most of our trash/dishes down to the lobby/restaurant.
Another few small things. When we first got into the hotel, we turned on the TV to a Hyatt commercial that stated, "Relax at Hyatt Place and take a dip in our pool.", HOWEVER, There is NO pool here, False advertising for this hotel. Another note, we had a fridge in our room, however it was never cold enough to keep any food cold and hardly kept our drinks cold.
The lowest rating we can give here is a one star, but My Family would rate it 0/5 stars and not recommend it.
We won't be staying here again for the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me start by saying I'm not the person that gets on a review site to complain. I'm typically raving about Hilton brand hotels. Stayed this weekend and this property definitely failed...
So unexpectedly, the power went out, because of the weather around 7/730pm. Which, I KNOW is not their fault. But they did NOTHING to let guests know, no ETA on the solution from Xcel, nothing to make people more comfortable when the only parts of the hotel that had any kind of light were the hallways and parts of the downstairs lobby. They had to leave the front doors open so no one wanted to stay because it as freezing downstairs, so most resorted to hanging out in the dark in their rooms.
So in essence because it was dark everywhere, people were in their rooms, and there was obviously more noise in the hallways and/or rooms because EVERYONE was stuck. (Not to mention a college grad party earlier - so the hallways were filled with 20-ish aged college students) We went to dinner because of it, left, and came back around 10pm or so, weren't even in our dark room for 5 minutes and a Hilton rep (who looked like he was 15) knocked and told us they'd received noise complaints about our room? We asked him confused if he's sure it was us and explained we had just come up to the room from dinner, he smiled and said "this is a warning and if we get another complaint about this room we will be calling the police" and turned and walked away.
We then walked downstairs dumbfounded to find out what was going on - asked for the manager and who walks up, none other than the same kid that came to our room. He just kept smiling and telling us that he'd received numerous complaints and repeating himself, and not even listening to us. Even though we weren't in our room to be complained about.. Needless to say, we turned and walked out because we realized we weren't getting anywhere with this kid, and who really wants to sit in a dark hotel?
So the power didn't come on until 7am the next morning, we also didn't get our receipt under the door, so I went to the front desk and asked for a paper receipt. Asked what time the power finally came back on, expecting an apology or some nicety to make guests feel better about paying $165 for a hotel room that had no electricity.. Nothing.
Now, I DO NOT think we should have had a free hotel room or something crazy like that, but seriously... nothing? No apology, no small discount to make people feel better, not a hey, have breakfast on us, just acted like it's normal.. thanks for our $165/night and come again...
Needless to say I'm super disappointed and wont be coming back to this property. Which sucks because I really love Hilton and it's one of the nicer hotels for a reasonable rate. They just lost my business along with 4 other people that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe called the Hilton Garden Inn from The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park after having a very expensive and disappointing anniversary experience. We were deciding between this and another hotel based on the location to the things in Denver we planned to see and do -- and we are so glad we called. We had literally one of the BEST hotel stays ever here and that's considering we travel 10 times a year for leisure and I travel 10-15 times a year on business.
HOSPITALITY When I called, I spoke with Alexa who was immediately warm, welcoming, and very friendly. She was disappointed to hear about our experience at The Stanley hotel and offered us a room as soon we could get off the mountain -- and this was around 9am in the morning when I called. Part of our issue with The Stanley was that our room wasn't ready until after 4pm -- and Alexa wanted to make sure to address that for us immediately. She offered us a great AAA rate and suggested the mountain view room and offered to throw in breakfast for us an anniversary treat. I've never met anyone as friendly as Alexa and we were looking forward to our stay thanks to her amazing attitude.
CHECK-IN Simple and easy! Although Alexa wasn't there we were greeted by Jessica who was just as eager to be helpful and kind. She presented with a basket as a gift from the Hilton that included Wine and snacks for our stay. Also included were two sets of breakfast vouchers which had a value of $12.95 per adult. We were given a room on the 7th floor with a mountain view.
ROOM Modern, new, and clean. Large in size and came complete with a new LCD TV and a Keurig machine along with the standard microwave and fridge. The room had a HUGE closet and was overall fantastic.
HOTEL AMENITIES -Underground parking garage -Free wifi -Free newspapers -Indoor Pool -Breakfast Area ($12.95 per person) which includes made to order omelets, pancakes, waffles, etc. It's by far the BEST hotel breakfast area EVER with amazing granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc.
LOCATION Convenient to all highways, downtown Denver, Cherry Creek Mall, and lots of places in the Denver area including museums, restaurants, bars, shopping, hiking, parks, etc.
This is a hotel with AMAZING standards for the quality of their guests. We had a wonderful stay here and look forward to staying here again on our upcoming trips into Denver. KUDOS TO ALEXA AND JESSICA! They are AMAZINGLY VALUABLE assets any hotel/hospitality organization would be lucky to have. They made us feel like valued guests and they helped make our botched anniversary (thanks to the overpriced and pretentious Stanley hotel) sooooo much better!!!
We had a 5-star experience in every aspect. Can't wait...
