Saturday night. Buzzing with excitement and fun in the air. Paaacked! You want a quiet and intimate evening with your significant other? Don’t come here on a Saturday night. You want a fun filled dinner with your significant other, friends or the whole family? Definitely come here. Plenty of parking right outside in the parking lot even though it was a busy Saturday evening. You walk in and you’re greeted with friendly staff, music, and a super fun atmosphere in the air. It was just the wife and I so we could belly up to the bar in just a few minutes of wait time. You have a party of 4 or more, make sure to give yourself some time on a busy weekend night. Even if you have to wait, it’s worth it. The craft brew scene here is fantastic. Plenty of beers for every palate on tap. Bartenders were super attentive, giving plenty of personal time even though the place was filled with no tables or bar seats empty. We weren’t waiting on anything, including the needed water hydration next to our great drinks. Starting off with what I’d say was one of the best fried green tomato appetizers we’ve had. Perfect crispy outside, with a juicy and tasty inside. Topped with either goat cheese, pimento cheese, or both (recommended!), it was a tasty starter that whet the appetite. We then went in for the burgers: Diablo for me (pepper jack cheese, guacamole, jalapeños, sautéed onions, and jalapeño bacon on a sriracha bun), and a Pickleback for the wife (fried onion rings, bourbon marinated pickles and bbq sauce on a brioche bun). We haven’t been to many burger spots in Greensboro yet, but these burgers live up to some of the best we’ve had compared to Phoenix and California. Huge patties, of which you can choose from a 6, 8 or 12oz size depending on your hunger or love for burgers. Juicy, tender and depth to flavor. The toppings just heighten the burger experience, and do not drown out the actual taste of the patty. The onion ring sides were amazing. And you can’t beat the presentation, see pics to get a feel for it without actually being there. But honestly, go experience it for yourself first hand if you haven’t yet. We will definitely be back!

If you want a burger done right...Hop's in your spot. We had two in our party this time. It was a Sat (Mother's Day weekend)..it was bz as all great restaurants should be. However, we were seated immediately and another group of 4 was seated at the same time. I got a "create your own" 6 oz burger, mayo, mustard, onion, pickle, lettuce and tomato...instead of fries (which are outstanding) I got the size salad with blue cheese crumbles and their speciality dressing (roasted shallot vinaigrette) <-----THE BEST! My son got the Hibachi burger with fries. We both got our burgers cooked medium well. Every last bite was outstanding. The outside of the burger had the perfect sear, leaving the inside burger NOT DRY and full of flavor. My sons burger was a great...with the same level of perfection. We've eaten at Hops on several occasions. Both locations in Gboro...at one time I was concerned about their consistency. Since then we've eaten at the one on Lawndale about 3 times and they have been consistent and have made well needed adjustments for the better. The restrooms are ALWAYS clean. The servers have ALWAYS been extraordinary. We live 30 minutes or more away and we refuse to eat burgers at any other spots. Unless we get a quick fix stop at Pete's. There's a fairly new spot trying to imitate Hop's. We tried it and let's just say we make the special effort to go to Hop's and will wait as long as we have to. Looking forward to our next visit.

My husband brought me to Hops Burger Bar because he had eaten here before and really liked the food and the restaurant. The food at Hops is great because it is so hot and fresh when it arrives at the table and there are some awesome flavor combinations offered on the menu too. The service we had was top notch and the atmosphere was so laid back, almost like an Asheville vibe. There was a good mix of patrons such as couples, groups and families with young children. There is a good beer selection available that includes local brewery products to compliment your meal. We started with a Fried Green Tomato appetizer topped with half goat cheese and half pimiento cheese and they were so tasty! I ate the 6 ounce Diablo burger because I love hot and spicy food. I did not find the heat overbearing but there was a kick that did not override the actual flavor combinations on the burger. I chose the house made chips as a side and they were tasty too. I even took half the burger home. My husband ate an 8 ounce Spicy Goat burger and it was soooooo yummy! I plan to order one the next time we go. Hopefully we will have room to try one of the dessert options if we skip the appetizer. Two that stood out were the Banana Pudding Cake and the Reeces Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake, but then again, they all sounded scrumptious. Definitely a must try burger joint!

My husband and I eat here very often, every couple weeks and it’s either the spring garden or this location. I’ve loved this restaurant for many years now and never been this disappointed until we went here last Saturday. The wait was about 45 minutes which we expected but once we sat down it went downhill from there. Our waitress wasn’t friendly and we’ve never seen her here before. After we ordered we waited 55 minutes before our food came. I am pregnant and was so hungry I regretted not ordering an appetizer. Our waitress never once apologized for the wait or cared to visit our table. My sweet tea was never refilled. By the time the food came we were all upset and ate everything too quickly. My husbands order was messed up. They forgot the tomato on his burger, nor was it cooked to the medium he had requested, it was well done. He refused to say anything and ate it because he was so hungry. My fish sandwich which I’ve gotten more times then I can count was disappointing too(the fish was small and mostly batter that seemed to have been fried to an excess as it was a darker brown and not golden like usual) but I couldn’t do anything about it either. Our waitress didn’t show up to check on us after food had delivered till we had a couple bites left(our guest had finished his burger). We asked for our check, paid, tipped and left. Since Hops reopened since Covid, this was our second time here. Even though they have taken many items off the menu and raised their prices by a few dollars we still decided to come again. I thought with raised prices and all their food would be better or at least kept to the standard it was, not worse. I don’t think we’ll be returning anytime soon. If my husband didn’t ask, this would be a 1...
