The food is always great, and the staff is usually friendly and attentive. My last visit, however, was very disappointing.
I was waiting on someone with my VERY squirmy 1 year old. I was greeted at the door and given a menu. I told the greeter I was waiting on someone. I held my kiddo and hung by the entrance. After several minutes he started to get extremely impatient and was climbing out of my arms. Being alone and knowing a screaming kid is a nusiance in a public place I sat down at a table (there were plenty of tables at this time). I put him in a high chair and stuck a placement to the table, and gave him snacks while we waited. When my cousin arrived I asked one of the wait staff if I could leave my things and go order. He literally just looked at me. He GLARED for several moments and said NOTHING directly to me, and instead whispered to a manager, who also glared and again SAID NOTHING. At this point, my cousin mentioned you aren't supposed to sit down before ordering (the first I am hearing of this policy, I see people do it all the time), and she has heard how ABSOLUTELY rude they are if you do, from multiple people.
Both staff members continue glaring and not speaking until they walk away. So, we gather up all of mine and my kids things and stand in line. The line moves quickly and when my cousin is done ordering I am standing at the register faced with the same manager who glared at me for daring to sit down earlier. She then begins taking someone else's order, who was in front of me before but she had stepped to the side and was on the phone. Her order took forever because she was getting food for several people and getting their orders on the phone.
After ordering and getting a table, again there were plenty, our dinner was lovely and tasty, and the wait staff was attentive. However, I don't know that I'll be back after this experience. It won't be hard to convince my husband to stay away either, because parking is a nightmare there and he never wants to go anyway.
I am completely supportive of and have no complaints towards this policy regarding not getting a table before ordering, however their actions are unjustifiable. There is no sign or remark on the menu that I can see, and no one said anything to me (or the other 3-4 people doing it in the very same evening) about it, so how was I supposed to know this? The way they both behaved towards me was baffling. I had my hands full, I didn't know the policy, and they did a great job of making me feel completely embarrassed and uncomfortable.
If I didn't have a toddler with a bedtime and had time to go elsewhere for dinner that evening, I 100% would have gathered my stuff from the table and left the...

Decided on a whim to venture into the lovely adjoining string of restaurants that sit next to LawndalexBattleground and really had a hankering for some tacos, so to Taco Mama's we went!
To say I was astonished at the sheer size of the interior of the restaurant would be an understatement. This place is huge! Loads of tables, lots of leg room and a huge menu over the order area/small hand out menus when you come in.
The place was packed with a handful of tables remaining but we had a minute to wait in line and look over the menu and make our choice.
The 1st surprise came when a waiting personnel came to us in line and asked if we would like a margarita while we waited and of course we said yes. I ordered the seasonal Blood Orange Marg, and she the skinny (low carb) Marg. The blood Orange Marg was absolutely a HIT with it's citrus tones and sweet flavor. The skinny was a standard Marg but made with a low sugar simple syrup.
We ordered, waited and vibed at a table that had now become open while waiting and seen the efficiency of the staff. No one needed to leave their seats for anything. You were waited on nonstop for any need.
When our food was served, the spread caused our eyes to relay to our stomach, "aye chief, it's friggin go time".
The chips were delicate yet crunchy, the salsa fresh and flavorful, the Mexican Mac and cheese mild yet scrumptious, and the burrito was pretty damn good.
I won't lie, I was a little lit from the margarita and dos Equis and was just thoroughly enjoying our meals. Take a peek at the pics, I'm still a little lit but had an absolute wonderful time. This is going to become a new after work...
Read moreI tried this place for the 1st time and it was excellent! You get to build your own taco. You get to choose from a variety of meats, I highly recommend the barbacoa, it's so juicy and tender. My daughter ordered the chicken and she says it's great. Then you get to choose your toppings and they have so much to choose from, everything you can think of and then some different stuff too like ancho slaw and cilantro lime rice. Then you get to choose your sauce and I highly recommend the cilantro lime vinaigrette, it's out of this world amazing! Then you get to choose your side and it comes with tortilla chips and salsa and both are homemade and delicious. The chips are warm, thin, and crispy and the salsa has just the right amount of spice. The prices are between $12 to $16 for the build your own taco which isn't bad at all considering how much food you get. Both my tacos were huge, just stuffed full of goodness. Everything was just off the charts good. It's a medium sized restaurant with quite a few tables and it's somewhat dim and cozy. It's painted a darker color and the lighting is lamp like but you can still see just fine. You get to make your own drink and refill as needed. You place your order at the cash register and they give you a # to put on the table and they bring your food out to you. They also do to go. All in all this place is wonderful, I don't have 1 negative thing to say about them. It's rare to find a restaurant this good and clean with great atmosphere. When I'm in the Greensboro area I'll definitely...
