The GOOD: THE STAFF IS OUTSTANDING!: Amber, who checked us in (it was pretty late...11pm or so) was just so sweet and friendly. She was very patient with us as we needed to switch rooms (dog smell) and then second room's sofa bed was not made up. She gladly delivered linens and surprised us with some free treats for the trouble...nice recovery! The breakfast lady (lost her name tag) was really helpful with the cantankerous pancake maker both days and offered just the right amount of chit chat...nice lady! I was really pleased that the housekeeping staff respected the Do-Not-Disturb sign BOTH days! Thanks so much!
Indoor pool is super nice...I couldn't get my 10-year to leave! It's very clean and spacious and the room is not overly obnoxious with the smell of chlorine.
The BAD: While the public areas are very up to date, the rooms still need a little work. The carpet at the threshold was gaping open. While I absolutely LOVED the spacious walk-in shower, there could have been more shelves to hold shampoo and soap in the corners away from the faucet AND the mold/mildew on the shower ceiling was kind of gross (no exhaust fan in the bathroom). As I mentioned, sofa bed was not made up nor were the linens in the room to set it up ourselves. We were tired from travelling...that's really the last thing we wanted to deal with at that hour (but, again, Amber made a really nice recovery on that one!).
I think this location is probably well-suited for airport travelers but it's not exactly strategically located otherwise. There are no restaurants immediately nearby and it's a bit off the beaten path. (Our usual HIX Greenville was booked, which is why we landed here.)
The UGLY: (And this is my BIGGEST peeve about hotels nowadays...) There are not enough outlets near the bed(s) to plug in electronic devices. I had to choose between unplugging the lamp or the clock and the outlet was behind the nightstand so I was afraid I was going to forget my charger. There was even one lamp that you couldn't plug in because it wasn't close enough to any outlet. It still blows my mind that hotels can't get this one right in this electronic age...MORE OUTLETS PLEASE.
IN SUMMARY, while there were a few issues with the physical facilities, the staff made the difference. I wouldn't hesitate to...
Read moreI've stayed at this hotel before for business and loved it, so we returned, but this 2nd time was NOT up to standard compared to the 1st time.
I asked for the same room we stayed in last time, if it was available, but FD agent was kind of hesitant, like she was low on room availability, so we just took whatever she assigned us.
We got up to the room, and the door was stained and looked molded. We had to try 3 times before the door even opened (ongoing issue every single time we left and came back - multiple tries to even get in). But, as happy as we were to finally unlock the room, it smelled like mildew, so I had to turn the AC down all the way. Spring box cover had a stain that I just wished the hotel would have covered up with a bed skirt or something. One of the corner guard was falling off. Shampoo pump dispenser in shower was not working. 1 small trash can in the bathroom only - no other trash cans. We got in at 10pm, but there was no delivery, except for a "fine dining Greek" place with a min order of $35 to even delivery. Not even a pizza place like Dominos.
I do, however, praise the water temp! The 1st room we had, the water was only lukewarm, barely above room temp water, but this room, the water got hotter than lukewarm.
However, woke up in the middle of the night to go use the restroom, and fridge was leaking. FD was nice enough to give me towels to clean up the leak, but it was an inconvenience to go down and grab them in the middle of the night. Breakfast in the morning was a disappointment, as when we got there at 8:30 before my business workshop, there was only apple or orange juice.
These were all easy fixes - provide another trash can, put a bed skirt on, peel off the corner guard, leave the AC on, change the shampoo dispenser, change the door lock.
Don't know if it was myself that I'm disappointed because I expected the same great room as previously. Don't know if it was housekeeping for not reporting the room condition or attempting to make it better. Don't know if it was management who failed to care or provide the items to make the room better.
But, I do know that I'm disappointed and I will not be back at this specific location, as I can stay at another IHG location when I'm in town...
Read moreDO NOT STAY at this hotel. I have been an IHG member for years. I often travel to the Greenville, SC area for business. I booked a room 2 weeks in advance. Upon arrival, it took @ 30 minute just to locate my reservation at the front desk. The room was absolutely filthy. There were bugs in the bathroom and shower area. The pillows smelled musty, and the sheets had stains on them. I stayed 2 nights. I had an early flight out and needed to leave the hotel @ 5am to head to the airport. When I entered the lobby the morning of 10/27, I found no one at the front desk to process my check out. There was a gentleman sitting in a lobby chair scrolling and playing on his cell phone. I asked if he worked there, and he stated yes that he did. I asked if he could process my check out. He seemed annoyed that I was interrupting his cell phone time. I handed him my keys and asked for a printed receipt. Again, he seemed annoyed and stated that the printer at the front desk was not functioning. I then asked for an email receipt. He stated that he had no email address on record. So, he handed me a pen and paper to write it down. At this point, I was actually wondering if he truly was an employee of the hotel. I wrote down my email address and handed him the paper that he gave me back. I never received the receipt. I had to call back this morning, 10/28 and request a receipt to be emailed to me from the front desk. And AGAIN, the front desk employee stated that there was no email address on file. I gave it to him again. I finally received my emailed receipt. This was by far the worse experience at a hotel much less an IHG hotel that I have had. I will never stay at this...
