This has ALWAYS been my FAVORITE Pelham Road Mexican spot! Usually I get the ALL TIME BEST MEXICAN SOUP IN TOWN OR supreme nachos spicy (UPDATE to go picture attached and please note the container weighs about a pound 😋 ASK for spicy cheese 🧀) when I need major comfort food with spicy salsa which is fresh and has a flavorful kick BUT on this very rare occasion I went in and was delighted to find that the FAJITAS are fantastic!!! It was like Cinco de Mayo celebration in my mouth with generous servings of beef chicken and shrimp plus veggies and tortillas with rice beans guac 🥑 sour cream and one of those signature sweet tomato 🍅 slices p.s. Don't forget to wash your dinner down with the BEST sweet tea in town MMM MMM SOOOOO good 👍
LOCATION Pelham Road at 85 ...does it get better? There is a stop light at Garlington, consider using that as traffic backs up 🚦 SERVICE I was greeted immediately and the service was impeccable. The chips and salsa were served immediately and my every need and request (including a to go box and offer to take tea to go) was catered to with a smile ATMOSPHERE Casual good times with friends and family the futbol is on in the background and you can sit outside on a pretty day (which is just about EVERY SINGLE day in Grernvega...
Read moreLet’s begin shall we. First and foremost, my good dear college friends came down to see me for a weekend and before they left we decided we wanted to grab lunch. As a new local, I figured why not give Corona’s a try.
Food - was pretty decent for a really good price especially in this economy.
Service - was the WORST. The server was really rude as it seemed he didn’t want to take a party of 6 but was forced to. Tone, body language and demeanor just said it all. While ordering we were rushed. My friend found hair in her food but was too shy to mention anything thinking it was hers. When my friend asked another staff for assistance they refused to help and said to ask our server thinking all staff would be able to be of assistance especially at a restaurant.
But what really sealed the deal on leaving 1 star is because DEMANDING FOR A TIP for bad service and getting angry at my friends and watching us write a number on the tip portion on our receipt(s) is insane. I WILL NOT be returning. It is incredibly rude and as a person who has worked both front and back of the house in the restaurant industry for 4+ years. A tip should not be expected and it is earned based on service. Customer service...
Read moreThe queso was watery and the tamales were basically all maza but the rest of the food and the service was incredible!!! Will DEFINITELY be returning!!! EDIT 5/24/22 DID RETURN! The Tamale this time was inedible. There was no pepper in the chile relleno, it was just a pile of beef with cheese on top. The staffs kids were running around and kept hitting our table, running in and out of the door to the back right side of the table and were running around the parking lot. This was NOT a good experience at all. Being in the service industry myself, I give a LOT of leniency when dining out. Our poor server could barely move (he was an older man) and seemed very confused until I just started speaking Spanish (I am TexMex). We will DEFINITELY NOT return. You cannot sit down and relax with a meal with 4 employee children RUNNING thru the restaurant. They were all at least 10+ years old. So, old enough to know better. It's incredibly sad because this place was the closest we've had to being back home in Texas....
