Richard's Motel Extended Stay — Hotel in Hallandale Beach

First, I would like to point out the good things. The room is very nice. Clean, critter-free, and the staff is very friendly. It's quiet and safe. I am staying here, going on my second month. I will be here through the rest of this month. I would like to stay longer, but I won't. Here is the bad part. The TV satellite feed system they have here is about the worst system I had ever encountered. It is a Direct TV system which (I've been told) is owned and operated by AT&T. I can not watch anything for more than a few minutes at a time. Most of the channels are very snowy and full of lines. Usually wavy lines. While watching a program, the picture freezes, breaks up, and than goes to a message screen indicating that the signal has been lost. This happens every 5 to 10 minutes and lasts anywhere between a few seconds to several minutes. Sometimes a lot longer. This happens in fair weather as well as bad weather, and on all channels. I have complained several times, and the manager did get someone in to look at it. It didn't help. If anything, it's worse now. What angers me the most is that this is a business. It should be priority to satisfy all guests in every way. I have paid a lot of money to stay here, and can not watch TV. I am not trying to bad mouth anybody. But I am writing this in hopes that the owner will realize he is not getting his money's worth from the satellite company. He would do himself a world of favor by switching back to Comcast. It may cost a bit more, but I believe he will be very well satisfied with the service. Maybe, after reading this review, the owner will lite a fire under the butts of the people that are supposed to be servicing the satellite system in this building. If I was the owner I would be on them like flies on sugar until they fixed it. So, with all that said, everything else about staying here has been absolutely wonderful. I would love to stay here again and also recommend this place to others. But not until this problem is resolved. I hope it is resolved soon, as this is one of the nicest places in this area. I can't watch anything on the TV. Almost all channels are blinking in and out. The pictures are scrambled with a tile effect. The "signal lost" message appears on almost all channels. We had a good value on this room! The room was a very good size. The bed was comfortable but small and only had two pillows. There was a full kitchen which was very handy, however there was nothing to use in the kitchen. There was a coffee maker but no cups or anything to use. All the cupboards were completely empty. I was unsure how you were going to use the stove, if there were no pots and pans. When we arrived, it was dark, pouring rain and very challenging to find the front office. People around were not friendly. When we attempted to park, there was lots of sketchy people around. I'm not sure this is the best area. It is in a very good location however sketchy people lingering. i assume this is why they don't let you in.The check-in was fine. The person wasn't very pleasant, actually very rude to be honest. When I went to check out, I saw her in the office but the door is always locked. I waved and she did not open the door until I picked up the phone. Since, it was close to New Years I thought I would inquire about staying during this time. She was very rude, and told me she was unable to tell me the price as she didn't know what it was going to be at this time. When I tried to ask for their question she told me to go online and book and see what the prices even though I was there and willing to pay ahead of time, she told me that she wasn't sure what she was going to charge for New Year's Eve yet I really didn't like that. When we started loading our car it started to rain again. When I walked by she was yelling at someone in the room to get out of the room because check out was 11, at this time it was about 11:10. We were waiting for the rain to diminish and then she came and yelled at us in our room to to get out by this time it was 11:15. Yes, I know that check out is at 11:00 we already did but due to the weather I didn't think this was to be a big deal. They need to learn how to be more polite and respectful at that front office. I waited three days for fresh towels, had the fresh towel sign hanging on door like the rules stated. Had to walk to front desk to request them and it still took 2 hours with the employee telling me to bag them into a plastic bag since she would not touch them eve n with gloves on. When checking into you your room you need to read the entire list of rules that is taped to their front window so not to get penalized while staying there. I was staying there for two days first Wednesday and Thursday night with a Friday 11:00 am checkout. I wanted to renew for a week but work 7 am to 4:30 pm so not to have the hotel needing to hunt me down to pay at 11:00 am Friday I paid before I went to work at 6:42 am to be proactive. BIG MISTAKE!! I was called on Thursday stating my check out was at 11am that day since I checked in at the middle of the night. Even though I was already in the room and had until 11 am to leave on Friday. The staff was rude and would not let me speak so I asked for the manager Farrah which was even worse. Talking over me and would not let me finish three words apparently they do not like being wrong. It took hours to clarify by them saying that “Richard” gracefully “let” me stay but now I have a do not rent to on my name. Richard is on a major power trip also blaming Biden for everything wrong. I don’t care if anyone is Democrat or Republican but I don’t need to listen to his views. He even has apartments to rent and he let me view some. He did not even offer me the apartment I liked and stated that if I wanted any apartment I would need to sell my car which I need for work so he can rent to someone in the future that has a car since he doesn’t have the proper parking spaces for his buildings.
