This is a thoroughly modern, very clean hotel. The lobby and breakfast areas are very nice. My room was on the second floor, on the parking lot side. The room was very quiet and comfortable with modern furnishings. The shower had strong water pressure and plenty of hot water, instantly available. The breakfast offerings were varied and good. I did have some initial confusion on how to find my room, however. When you get off the elevator the sign on the wall in front of you shows 3 room groupings, with one room number range with an arrow to the left, one with an arrow to the right, and another with an arrow pointing straight down, as if you were supposed to go back down to the first floor for a room in that range! My confusion came because my room was in that range. I could see a hallway to the right but couldn't immediately see a hallway to the left (and of course no hallway doing down to the first floor), so I went toward the left, where I found two hallways, one going to the right and the other going toward the left. There were further room range signs showing the rooms that initially were with the arrow pointing toward the left were actually now toward the right, and the rooms (including mine) that were initially with the arrow pointing down, were to the left. That initial sign, instead of having the arrows the way they were, should have had one arrow to the right and two arrows to the left, with one of the two with a 90 degree bend to the right and the other with a 90 degree bend to the left. Then it would...
Read moreThis Hilton is a combo—part Hampton Inn and part Home2 Suites. What’s the difference? The Home2 Suites cater to longer stay guests with a room configuration that includes a kitchen and sitting area. The Hampton Inn is well…Hampton. A hotel room of bed and bathroom. Except for the rooms, the facilities —exercise room, pool, breakfast areas—are all shared. One result to the uninitiated is an unclear, confusing direction of where rooms are. The hotel is bright and airy, but that is where the positive ends. |Some problems we experienced: We only saw 1 luggage cart the entire time we were there. The staff know this is inadequate. Of three treadmills only one works and with a 4-story hotel that is inadequate. No matter how competent, staff with long hair working in the kitchen-breakfast area must be against health regulations. In our bathroom, the water trickled out of the shower and the toilet roll holder was no longer attached properly causing the toilet roll to slip off. Upon check-in we were informed that the televisions were not working. Throughout the night there was an annoying knocking - dripping sound around our room; we never determined its cause. The light switch by the bed light was about 5’ from the floor, so one has to get out of bed to turn off the light. Poor design.|The newest Hilton angle is a card on the night stand with a QR code for payment to “show our gratitude” to staff! Outrageous. I pay my bill. You pay your staff. This is not a well-done tip, but rather another...
Read moreHilton Honors member but that means nothing to management here. Our plans changed at last minute and we were going to have to travel over an hour and a half out of our way to stay here. We called to see if we could cancel our reservations here and transfer to another Hilton hotel. It took 4 phone calls and getting hung up on 3 times BTW. The GM at this location refused and was going to charge full price whether we stayed or not. To keep from having to pay for two separate hotel stays, we drove out of our way to stay here. HUGE mistake! We should have just kept driving and let them keep our money. Obviously they need it! Very poor hotel. We checked in then went to our rooms. Cards weren’t activated so I had to go back down to the front desk to have them fix the issue. We had been driving for over 10 hours at this point. Gross rooms with hairs (that weren’t ours) all over the shower and toilet. Dirt in the shower floor and the room has large bottles of reusable personal items like body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. I’m sorry but I am not using anything that has been previously opened and expected to be used between multiple guests. Very unhygienic! The hotel smells of some sort of wet dog and smoke so much so they have bath and body works plug ins to cover it up. We WILL not stay at this hotel again and recommend if you have ANY other choice while in Hattiesburg, make this one the last...
