Do NOT purchase from Miskellys. My husband and I have purchased several furniture pieces from them because of their warranty. Knowing that if something were to break or become damaged, we could receive a replacement or get it fixed during the next 5 years was wonderful. What we did not realize is how inaccurate their promise with the warranty was.
We purchased two night stands, a bed, and a mattress back in the summer of 2022. One of the USB charging ports stopped charging but my husband was able to fix that. The solid wooden bed that I purchased was actually compressed wood and is not very sturdy. One of the side rails was busted upon delivery and crew setup, however, two weeks later, the new piece was delivered and our setup was finished. Our mattress has began to sag in the middle and it isn't even a year old. Because of our recent experiences, it isn't worth the frustration to call about replacing or repairing that.
Back in August, we purchased a new couch and loveseat set. We knew that we wanted to go with miskellys because they had the warranty that included pet damage repair. We had a young dog that we were afraid would do something, so this inclusion in the warranty was the selling point for us. In September, our fears came true and our dog dug out the middle cushion on our couch. We immediately put in a repair ticket and waited to get an appointment for a technician to come out. The parts arrived for the repair and no one contacted us to setup the appointment. I called to follow up and was told that I needed to have called when the part arrived as they were not made aware that the parts arrived. They scheduled our first appointment for early October. I took off work and the technician did not show. This would continue to be the trend over the next 5 months. We have had 6 different appointments, 2 different technicians, and 0 people have fixed our couch. Typically, they call the day prior to the appointment to cancel or just do not show up. At the end of January, we were fed up and asked to refund the warranty and for miskellys to just come get the furniture. They said it was outside of the 7 day return policy and they could not refund the furniture or pick it up. They said they would pro-rate the cost of the warranty for years 2+. They also said that they couldn't do much because the Furniture Care Protection company was a third party company. They also said that FCP wanted to make things right and wanted to come and complete the task on Wednesday Feb 8th from 11am-1pm. We have said multiple times that we are not available for weekday appointments during the day as we both work, and don't trust they will show up, to take off work. We declined the appointment multiple times.
To our surprise, the technician showed up to our house on Feb 8th early during the day. Neither one of us were home as we were at work and had canceled the appointment multiple times. I explained to him that we were not home and could not meet him until after 6pm. He said he would come back that evening after his other appointments. He did not return or call to notify that he would not be back. If I could do the repair myself, I would, however, the material is sewn to the frame.
Yes I understand miskellys is not the warranty place. What is not acceptable is that the company is selling and backing this warranty company. They are selling a warranty that does not meet the standards or conditions they are promising. We were fools and believed this company would back their products and uphold their promises. Instead we are just being...
Read moreI often heard it said, “first impressions are lasting impressions”…good or bad, impressions linger and by human nature spread! Today was my first visit to a Miskelly Furniture store on a planned shopping trip to include other furniture stores to find a specific piece of furniture. I spent hours looking on the internet for options, variations of the piece of furniture I wanted and soon realized although a picture may say a thousand words, a picture cannot convey how something feels, how it fits, how it really looks in 3D. So my trip began (and ended) when I walked thru the sliding doors of the Miskelly store in Hattiesburg. First impression, the vista of a well organized, clean and colorful furniture store. I quickly saw the large grouping of the item I was looking for as I heard a welcoming to Miskelly and saw a person approaching with her hand extended as she introduced herself, smiling and asking how she might help me. I did not expect to see the enormous volume of the item I was scouting to find nor how quickly, easily my personal guide was able to show me only the specific pieces meeting my specification list. I heard detailed information about each piece as I looked, felt, experienced it and given quick responses to my questions. The sales process, my experience was fluid, facilitated by a knowledgeable, understanding and thoughtful professional who also had the inventory on hand for me to experience, to compare and upon selection, fabric options were available for side-by-side comparison for the item I chose but a different color for the fabric I wanted was not…but it was available! So I’m thinking, here it comes, “we can get what you want, however; supply chain issues, Co-V drama, and it’s not Xmas means weeks if not months before it will be available or you could just settle for what you see here and now”! Instead I heard, the item in the specific fabric color you want is available and can be delivered to your home in two days and BTW, you have two options for delivery service or you could pick it up here if you have a truck or trailer. Then another softly presented BTW, there is an additional price discount being offered on all items throughout the store (which covered the cost for my choice in home delivery). There are two more issues I found important in my item choice. First, it was a Mississippi manufactured item and second, an extended warranty was offered which covered issues not covered in the manufacturer warranty and the cost was fully refundable if warranty service not needed during its coverage. Needless to say, I found and purchased what I was shopping for on my first furniture store stop at Miskelly due to its clean, friendly environment, its available on-site inventory and most importantly, due to the professional guidance I experienced by its representative…kudos to Marcia Brown!
Fast forward two years…my wife and I decided it was time, well past time to replace the leather sofa and side chair in our den. And due to my experience at Miskelly Furniture...
Read moreMy husband and I went into Miskelly's a few days ago. Upon arrival we already knew where the clearance section and decided once we got inside the store to go straight there. If we saw furniture that captured our attention - we would find our way back to the front of the store to ask an associate for help. Well it didn't turn out like we planned at all. Once we got in the store we proceeded as planned, a few steps in, we noticed someone walking behind us. We assumed it was just a customer walking in the same directions as we were. We kept walking towards the clearance section and noticed they were getting closer. At this point, I told my husband, I think we are being followed. Needless to say this associate followed us to the clearance section of the store to ask us if we were looking for something specific???? When we told them "No" - they stayed right there as if they could help us make our minds up....... First of all, this is rude, secondly, I do not like feeling pressured to purchase anything nor do I like being followed surround the store by a detective spy associates. I find it offensive and rather creepy. My review is only one star for this very reason and to let other potential customers know what to expect when they go inside the store. I am also choosing to take my business to another furniture store where they value theircustomers as people and not as dollar signs. This was not my first experience inside of this store. I went in 2020 and had a similar experience but not like this last experience. This last experience, thought this was a bit much, over the top and creepy like I...
