This beautiful rainforest getaway was absolutely perfect for our visit to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park! Located just 5 minutes from the park entrance, it was a very convenient location. Included with our stay was a homemade breakfast prepared and left in our fridge the afternoon before, so we could enjoy it whenever we wanted the next morning. And, it was delicious! Our first morning we had Hawaiian banana bread, hard boiled eggs, and a beautiful array of tropical fruit: papaya, pineapple and kiwi. The second morning we had homemade Greek yogurt (amazing!) with granola & honey, and coconut pineapple bread 😋 Nicole and her sister make the bread and yogurt themselves, and it was definitely a treat! I was very impressed, as well, with how sustainable and green they run things: everything is provided in reusable glass containers and recycling is available outside the room so the waste level is at a minimum.

Hale 'Ohu went through extensive renovations earlier this year, and the room definitely shows it: clean, modern & cozy. The bathroom is perfectly spot clean, and the room has everything you need: USB charger outlets for phones, a little breakfast nook with a coffee maker and electric kettle, a table indoors, and a little lanai with a couple of chairs so you can enjoy breakfast outside as well. The landscape is beautiful, the location is perfect, and the warm, personal hospitality Nicole provided made this place a highlight on our Big...

Staying at Hale 'Ohu Bed & Breakfast was one of the highlights of our honeymoon! This is truly a diamond in the rock hidden oasis that allows you to get away from the hustle and bustle of Volcanoes National Park and Kona, for an escape into the lush rainforest of Volcano Village. The setting is quaint, tidy, and makes you feel like you are staying in Jurassic Park. The owners were unbelievably kind upon check-in and even gave us a bottle of wine for our honeymoon that we enjoyed in our room while wearing the provided white cozy bathrobes. The room was spacious, clean, and equipped with a large walk-in rainforest shower. Every morning we enjoyed a delicious prepared breakfast that was left in our breakfast nook the evening prior for us to enjoy at our leisure. Some of our favorites were homeade banana bread and papaya boats. In the evening, we had the pleasure of sitting out on the back porch and watching the view. Hale 'Ohu is located right in Volcano Village and is a 2 minute drive from many great restaurants, including a delicious Thai Food Restaurant and Cafe Ohelo. It is also very close to Volcano winery and Volcanoes National Park. We recommend taking a day to drive an hour straight down the mountain to hike the green sand beach...it is worth it. We highly recommend Hale 'Ohu B&B. It is an oasis that we cannot wait...

I stayed in this bed & breakfast for 2 nights while visiting Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii. The location is very convenient to the park, and is a really cozy spot. The rainforest walk on the property is really great, if you have a chance to do that - so many beautiful flowers. I especially liked the breakfast that the owners provide—we had delicious homemade banana bread, and pineapple/coconut bread! (It's especially good if you warm it up in the microwave for a few seconds!) There is a cute table by the window for dining, and there's also seating outside. The decor is really nice, and very modern - the bathroom shower is roomy and has great water pressure, and everything is really clean. The room comes with a small fridge, a microwave, coffee/tea, etc. The outlets by the bed include USB for easy phone/device charging. There is a ceiling fan, and a small heater. There isn't much in the town of Volcano, but we had a great dinner one night at the Lodge down the street, and another night at the Ohelo Cafe. The main attraction is Volcanoes National Park, and this BNB is about a 5 min drive from the entrance. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're in the area, and I will definitely stay here again...

Lovely B&B in a lush, tropical setting. Take the short Rainforest Walk, listen to the birds, walk around the extensive gardens - keep an eye out for the playful cats chasing lizards and the wild pheasants bickering with each other. Volcano National Park is a few minutes away with a wonderful art gallery and of course the craters and Pele doing her thing at Kilauea. Yummy breakfasts, esp the homemade breads. The innkeepers are sweet and helpful - they’re cat people so right there you know they’re good folks :) Overall a great place to stay with clean, comfortable, pretty rooms that have great views outside their windows and lanai area

We loved the beautiful, modern, clean and welcoming B & B. The hosts are super and knowledgeable about the region. The patio view into the garden (red ginger room) was wonderful and walking the trail into the rainforest was great. The best was the bird life, including the family of Kalij pheasants that wandered through the property twice per day, it made the trip. The continental breakfasts were delicious, I could eat the papaya bowl every day. The visitor guide in the room gave a heads up of local attractions and restaurants. We highly recommend you stay and are looking forward to a return visit.

Absolutely stunning place. So quiet and close by to the National park. Everything was so well thought out and there were so many nice details- umbrellas outside and even had a huge guide with local recommendations and notes on tne local birds and plants for use for example. The gardens are not to be missed the rainforest work is something you would see in a botanical garden. Tne breakfast was so good and fueled us through our morning hikes. We also stayed one night inside the park but this was much nicer.
