We absolutely enjoyed our stay here. Even if the Volcano National Park is closed due to the actual erruptions. This island has still a lot to show. Booked here before the volcano exploded, but when it was time for our one night stay the volcano was out of control. The owner refused to let us cancel, actually said that nothing was going on near her cabin, that we should be fine. She stood her ground about her cancelation policy regardless of the unknown danger from the volcano. Sadly Sandy (owner) was more worried about loosing her $115, then the safety...

Garret and Sandy are wonderful hosts at Volcano Country Cottages. Breakfasts are dependable and fresh. If you are staying more than a couple of days you might want to widen your variety of breakfasts, however.

Excellent access to Volcano National Park as well as other attractions on that side of the island.
