Kilauea General Store — Local services in Hawaii

We visited this grocery/general store a couple of times during our stay in Volcano and every employee we met was super nice! We don't always get this kind of friendliness from locals, so I just had to write a review! We mainly visited to pick up to-go sandwiches, as the town of Volcano doesn't have many restaurants and we needed something cheap and quick for our afternoon activities. Sub sandwiches were super tasty with fresh ingredients. There is a small window to order subs from right when you enter the store. They also have espresso coffee drinks, which was a nice surprise for a small town, as well as snacks, drinks, alcohol (beer, wine, and some hard liquor), and limited groceries. Excellent...

Nice little general store with basic staples in Volcano. Nothing fancy here for groceries, but they do offer some homemade jams and spreads as well as freshly made coffees (a nice substitute for you Starbucks junkies) and made-to-order sandwiches for just $8-$9 - perfect for taking with you on your day adventures into Volcanoes National Park or elsewhere. Shockingly priced - no prices on the shelves or items, so I was flabbergasted to be charged $23.75 for a bag of frozen chips and some grated cheese. I'd only picked them up because I couldn't order pizza at 16:40 despite the opening times for the pizza being until 17:00.

Saw some locals paying far less for the products than I did, so there is definitely a huge markup for tourists.
