Out of Soda, no ice water, NO effort- just a ruined meal! Came in for lunch after a 3hr drive. Ordered food and found out they were out of Coke. So I went out to grab one I had in my car. Then was berated by the waiter saying no outside drinks. I asked if they could go to the attached convenience store (literally the same building) and get a coke that I would happily purchase from them. He said "NO. Not my rules. Im just the messenger" To make it worse was the water had no ice and was Luke warm so you couldn't drink it either! Then another couple comes in with a giant thermos filled with something and the same waiter didn't say ANYTHING! They could have had beer, soda, vodka, whatever and they were allowed. So apparently they dont like labeled drinks? Had I known I’d have to choke down my food dry with only warm water, we would not have ordered.

The inconsistency and lack of effort to make things right for a paying customer was unacceptable. A little accommodation — even just offering ice — could have salvaged the experience. Instead, we left frustrated and disappointed. The pesto pizza was very spicy for a pesto. Fries were bland. Burger was ok, whatever I could choke down...

Our visit to this restaurant was unfortunately a major disappointment. Despite multiple confirmations in advance that our group of eight would be seated together, we were ultimately split across two separate tables. It took over an hour just to get seated, and then nearly another hour before any food arrived.

To make matters worse, the dishes came out at completely different times, so we couldn’t even eat together. Some of us had already finished while others were still waiting for their meals. The portion sizes were very small and did not justify the high prices at all.

Most concerningly, one girl in our group had to vomit shortly after eating. While we can't say for certain it was due to the food, it certainly added to an already negative experience.

The service was frantic and seemed overwhelmed, which affected the overall atmosphere as well. In summary: overpriced, poorly organized, and not at all what you would expect when booking for a larger group. Unfortunately, we cannot...

TLDR; an off night for the pizza, but the rest was superb

-The fish bites were amazing - they have a fish&chips-style batter. The garlic parm fries are $10, but a very big portion you could share with multiple people.

-The sausage pizza was disappointing and very bland, but I hear it was just an off night and people have been loving it. (The Portuguese sausage was like ham chunks, the mushrooms were pretty bland, and even the caramelized onions tasted bland instead of caramelized. Also the whole thing was undercooked for me with a plan pail crust, and all the ingredients could easily slide right off.)

-the braised short rib adobo with fried rice was absolutely heavenly!!! I wish I could eat that every week. Ugh it was soooooo goooood 🤤 Please try it!

-the Rice Rice Baby cocktail was also good. It’s a play on mango sticky rice but it’s not too sweet.

-the staff was awesome. Super duper friendly! Amazing vibes from them

Overall we loved it except for the...

We had an amazing time at Lanikai Brewing - Volcano! We’re a couple traveling through Volcano and were originally planning to go to the Rim restaurant, but something about it didn’t feel right. We decided to give Lanikai a try instead, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The food was incredible — the Fish Bites were perfectly crispy and flavorful, the Beet Salad was super fresh, and both pizzas (the Bee’s Knees and Pipikaula) were absolutely delicious. We also appreciated that even the little things, like the sodas, were served cold and with care. The service was just as great as the food. The staff made us feel genuinely welcome, checked in at the right times, and had a friendly, down-to-earth vibe that made the whole experience feel comfortable and relaxed. As visitors, we couldn’t have asked for a better spot to enjoy dinner in Volcano. We left full, happy, and already talking about how we’d come back again. Highly recommend this place to anyone in the area!

Lanikai Brewing in Volcano Village is a perfect stop after visiting Volcano National Park, it’s just a short, easy drive and tucked right in the middle of town. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff is welcoming, and the beer is seriously top notch. Every brew we tried had its own unique local twist and was done really well. The food was okay overall, but the timing could use some work. Our group got our food 5 to 10 minutes apart, which made it hard to enjoy a meal together. Hopefully that’s something they improve on, because the place has a lot going for it. If you come, I recommend keeping it simple, the burger and fries hit the spot. Nothing fancy, just good, solid comfort food that pairs perfectly with their beer. Despite the small hiccup, I’d definitely come back. It’s a great local spot with amazing beer and a laid-back island vibe.
