Beautifully kept facility. It is an older building, but has been remodeled and maintained with taste and care. (Altbough their parking lot needs some work.) We stayed on the club side in a 1 room villa with an ocean view. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and kept up very well. There's a cute coffee/breakfast counter in the open-air lobby that's open in the mornings. We ordered coffee, as well as a giant piece of banana bread and a fresh malasada, all of which were delicious. We did not order food from their restaurant, but got drinks which were great. We had daily room service, so between that and the washer/dryer we always had clean clothes and plenty of towels. We got groceries at the little shopping center across the street; pricey but convenient. They have lots a great poke options! Shopping/restaurants are walking distance. There is no cooktop, but we made use of the microwave to cook simple breakfasts and made in-room coffee every day (pro tip - bring your own coffee or buy locally.) We also used the outdoor grills, which was a lot of fun. The grills are really nice, and have tables and a firepit nearby. This resort was not very big, so it felt quiet and intimate. It seemed to have fewer rules surrounding pool towels/seating, compared to other resorts. We walked to the nearby Hilton one morning, and did not like it at all. It felt huge/commercialized in comparison to the Marriot. Pool areas were clean and modern. The beach is a little walk through lava rock fish ponds, which are fun to explore in the mornings, but gets a little too hot in the afternoon. Also - on Wednesdays and Fridays they have a luau with a whole big roast. Even if you don't do the luau, stop by the pit around 9-10am, and the guys will let you watch them prepare the pit and put the pig in! They were super friendly, and honestly, getting to watch that whole process was a trip highlight. We did go the luau, (all you can eat/drink) and the pig was very tasty 😋 Overall a very relaxing stay. Would...
Read moreMost excellent resort and location! I’m an owner so this review comes from that perspective. I booked a three week stay so was expecting a long, relaxing get away and I got it.
Parking at first was a bit confusing. They let me park at the Valet desk to check-in which was easy, but then not clearly directed to the actual self-parking gate. However, you do it once and then you get it.
Check-in was nice and easy. Got a nice overview of the property and activities. I got there late so I needed some provisions so I visited the insight market for two bottled waters and a soft drink. Very expensive, but very convenient.
The hallway had an interesting smell. I think because the hotel is an open plan they have trouble keeping the hallways dry and clean. The hotel room was absolutely gorgeous! I had an Island View so I looked out at a courtyard and Cabanas on the beach.
The location was great. Nestled in with other resorts there was everything you need within walking distance. I rented a car, but I would say if your planning on staying near the resort you could Uber or walk to wherever you need.
Overall, a great stay and probably the most relaxing time I’ve had in...
Read moreIt is located in an area in the Big Island that naturally would not have much vegetation. The fresh water is pumped here and sprinkled at night to make plants grow, since there is not much natural rain. The lack of rain means almost constant sunshine and clear skies. It is an artificially crafted paradise.
The hotel resort itself is very similar to other Hawaian resorts I have been to on Maui and Oahu. There are pools, some shops, a bar, a restaurant and a gym for working out. On the standards of another city or state this would be extremely fancy and luxorious, but on Hawaii standards it is average.
The place is a bit expensive, and on top of the already high room prices you have to pay a mandatory fee for using the resort pools and the internet through wifi, which is 40USD per day. For such a high price, that you cannot opt out of, I think the services are nothing to write home about. I was also not aware of such a daily fee beforehand when booking, so it was a negative surprise to me.
All in all, if you have tons of money and are looking for an easy carefree stay in an artificially crafted paradise, this is a...
