I went to Hawaii in March with just my husband, but we wanted to bring our kids. I wanted a place with a kitchen and place for them to have space and roam. I also really like this area and wanted to be close to the fairmont orchid (where I stayed in March) as they have a huge morning buffet. I looked for two weeks before booking and this place kept showing up. So I took it as a sign and booked. Check in was a little confusing. ( it must be different depending on who you book through, I seen reviews saying they had to check in at a different building. However I had a self check in) the writing on which unit is your made it a little confusing but other then that it was a breeze.
The place seemed nice enough but the listing I booked from honestly did not do the home any Justice. The unit was absolutely massive. I was completely shocked when I entered the home. It was beautiful, open, inviting and spacious. It had 3 bedrooms (I thought I was getting only a 2 bd) one double twin room downstairs one queen bedroom with bathroom and one king master upstairs. The kitchen, dining and livingroom are big and wide open which I love. The kitchen came with everything you would need. A huge dining room table Tv with cable and Netflix for you to log into to. And a chess/card table for you to enjoy playing games. The double twin is spacious and not cramped. There’s also a common bathroom. There’s two sliders one off the kitchen and one off the LR. You can walk right out and down to the pool which is less then 100 feet away. It’s a pretty infinity pool. It doesn’t get to packed or crowded either which is nice. There’s also outdoor grills right next to it if you like grilling.
Back in the house head up a beautiful stair case and first come to the queen room it is pretty big. It has a huge walk in closet as well as it’s own private bathroom. It’s a fantastic room. The mattress however is a older box spring mattress nothing to fancy and kind of solid and hard lol but I found it comfortable. Most won’t though. Head down the hall and you wak into a sitting area loft type thing, with a hide a bed couch table and desk. I loved this space. An it over looks the LR which makes the space feel even bigger. Head into the master BR which is big and open. There’s a slider with a private deck with lounge chairs. The master bath and walk in closet are almost as big as the room. Like unbelievably big, tub shower, double sink and private toilet. All the space you need to unpack.
There was possibly 100 extra bath and hand towels. (Like no joke my family probably used over half just because they could, which I indeed had to wash lol) there was at least 20 extra pillows stored away, as well as a ton of extra blankets, and sheets. ( I did also read in the reviews that some people were lacking for these things, so I’m lead to assume each unit is different) we however were not lacking for these things. There was a short supply of shampoo and conditioner. I didn’t mind though.
There was also a closet full of beach chairs, umbrellas big and small, snorkeling gear, sand toys and boogie boards, water shoes and sunscreen. It was something I was not expecting and was thrilled to see.
Overall I really was and am more then pleased with my choice in place to stay and I will be back. I actually couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else after this. I love this area.
That being said there are a couple of things I didn’t like. The dryer is absolutely terrible. They could use a surround system for the LR tv, can’t hear it with the open ceilings. Several Extra kitchen garbage bags. An maybe a restocking of the family games. There is a few repairs that could be made, nothing to fret over though. This is a vacation home not a hotel. It will see its share of wear and tear. Do not forget that when booking. Overall I am more then happy with our stay. An absolutely...
Read moreWe booked a 2 week/2 island vacation through Costco for our 20th anniversary. Fairwayway Villas was our home for the 2nd week of our adventure. After spending the first week living out of a suitcase in a hotel room, it was nice to spread out a little and have a closet and dresser. Also a huge plus to have a washer and dryer to use - this allowed us to pack light. The condo was clean and comfortable. We were in unit J2, which is a ground floor unit. If I stayed there again, I might want an upstairs unit. The people above us were walking around every morning by about 6 or 630am and must have been wearing hard soled shoes. Sounded like they were doing laps around their unit. This was not a huge issue for us, but something that I noticed. There was a centipede on the kitchen floor the first night, but my pre-trip research had prepared me for that possibility so I got rid of it and it was no big deal. The pool and hot tub were very nice, as was the grilling area. It was also nice having a designated parking spot (ours was a carport). Our patio faced the 4th fairway of the Waikoloa Beach Golf Course and we enjoyed watching the golfers in the morning while having our coffee. We ended up golfing that course, and liked it. It was nice being close to both the Queens and Kings shops, but we didn't spend much time there. I guess that the kitchen was well enough equipped, but we didn't use most of it. We only had a week so explore the Big Island, so we didn't spend much time sitting around the condo. There were a few games there, and we played scrabble late one evening. There was a monopoly game too, but it was missing pieces. We rented the unit as a one bedroom/one bath. It is actually a 2 bedroom/2 bath, but when you only book one bedroom, they just lock the other bedroom and bath. There were plenty of pillows and bath towels, and also 6 extra towels to use for the pool. These do not get replaced during your stay, but 6 pool towels for 2 people for a week is more than enough. It was hotter than usual while we were there. Mid 90's every day. We were told that opening the windows and door would let in a nice breeze and we wouldn't need the AC. This was not the case. We tried that and it was just way too hot. We felt the location was decent for exploring the island and we were able to get around quite easily. The Ironman World Competition was happening in Kona, so there were road closures one day. A lot of people were complaining about that, but it happens there every year and we were aware of it before we booked. I guess I don't understand not looking into area events before booking a trip. We enjoyed walking out to the highway to see the biking portion of the competition and later driving to Kona to be at the finish line. This is a resort area, so it is a little more expensive to eat and buy groceries. If we return to the Big Island, I would consider staying here again, but might stay farther...
Read moreThis review is for Fairway Villas-Waikoloa|| PARKING: each unit is assigned a parking spot, if someone else is parked if your spot, expect nothing to be done. If it’s after hours, you’ll be told “just park in a spot that’s not reserved and then figure it out tomorrow” and during hours, the office person will write it down and do nothing. AND if you happen to see property staff riding around on a golf cart, you’ll be told, there’s not much they can do other than put a note on the other car. It’s frustrating to pay so much money and not be able to park in designated spot that’s actually near your unit. ||POOL: salt water infinity pool that’s heated and a hot tub! Really nice!! ||UNIT K2: I don’t even know where to start. Upon arrival, beds were not completely made or even put in the right place (bed was pulled away from the wall I’m assuming to “make it up” and just left out in the middle of the floor instead of being bc pushed back against the wall. Another bedroom, the top cover wasn’t even put on all the way. There was a couple of dead mosquitos that had been squished on the wall and just left (bug guts and all.) The furniture was so rickety I was worried it would fall apart when I put my suitcase on it. I was a little relieved when I noticed a luggage rack/stand in the closet so pulled it out and was disappointed again when it was broken. A cooler, beach chairs, umbrella, and towels were provided but didn’t count on the beach chairs because they were broken. We had three people staying in the unit. There was more than enough bath towels (3 per person), hand towels (2-3 person), and beach towels (2 per person) but only one washcloth per person for a week’s stay. When asked the office staff about extra washcloths, she stated “well they only provide enough for each person.” On a positive note, the view was pretty! ||EXTRAS: Queens marketplace is super convenient and close by! It’s expensive but I think that’s just Hawaii in general. Lots of options for anyone you’re traveling with! ||Cute stores for shopping! ||Starbucks 🙌🏼||Lava Lava Beach Club: super expensive (again I think that’s just Hawaii) but they will validate your parking for 3 hours! Do not pay for parking before entering the restaurant, make sure you know your tag number and they’ll take care of it before they seat you. ||A-bay beach-it’s open to the public so it can get crowded, make sure you park in the free lot so you don’t...
