Our suite was very hot when we arrived. The bedroom where the window air conditioner was located said it was 78, and the bathroom and entryway where the massage chair is located was even hotter than that. We finally realized after a while that it was only set on eco and low fan and we switched it higher, but we were sweating. I'm surprised they didn't have it set higher to cool the room off before we arrived. My husband almost fell in the jacuzzi tub trying to get in there and get some cold water on himself to cool off and the handheld sprayer was on a short hose so he couldn't stand up to spray yourself. I did let the owners know about these problems, and the next morning, they let us switch to another room where the air conditioner was able to keep the place cool enough. My husband was attending a conference and I was going to hike. most of the days, we wanted to leave early so he could get to his meetings and I could get to the hiking trail. the only option for breakfast before 8:00 a.m. was a store-bought bagel and either cream cheese or butter, granola bars, and a piece of fruit. Considering the cost of staying there, more than $200 a night, I was expecting better.
I really wanted to like this place. the location was perfect, but I can't say that we did and do not plan to go back. It's too bad because I think just a few simple changes would have made it a much better experience for us. If they had had the air conditioning in the first room set on high fan and cool before we arrived it would have been cooler and maybe they should also have a another air conditioning unit in the entryway to keep the entryway in bathroom cooler. The other change that would be nice is having more things for offer for breakfast if you're getting it to go such as homemade goodies, Perhaps a breakfast sandwich or even just a cold cut sandwich would have been appreciated. We also like to have room service each day where they come in and at least make the bed and straighten up a little bit and at that price point I would expect that so we were very disappointed that that was not included even if you requested it.
We did eat at their restaurant and the pancakes and bacon were fabulous and the dinner we had there...
Read moreLet me tell you of my experience of the Henderson Inn. The proprietors are very friendly, with Michael having a foreign accent that you will love to hear him talk and Jeanne having a smile that will light up the room. The Inn is very clean and so serene. I found myself not even getting on my computer, and anyone that knows me, I live on my computer. The food, cooked by Chef Michael, was out of this world. We had Baked Crab Cake with Grilled Corn, Chives, Peppers, Chipotle Aioli/ Quill eggs on homemade sausage/ Wild Mushroom & Truffle Empanadas with Yellow Pepper Coulis/ Smoked Trout Mousse/ and for dessert we had Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake| Cookies & Cream Ice Cream/ Crème Brûlée |Vanilla Custard, Caramelized Sugar/ Key Lime Pie Cheesecake| Strawberries. We were so full that but could not quit eating. Our server was Nathan. He was fantastic and really is missing his calling. He should be a comedian. He made us feel so comfortable and stayed on top of our needs. The breakfasts were just as great. Blueberry pancakes with homemade syrup and Crab Cake Benedict was we ate. The rooms are very comfy and I slept like a log. They close the doors at 9pm so you do not have to worry about noise. The bar is very friendly when the towns people come in. They treat you like you are one of them and have lived there your whole life. I am not good with words, but I think I covered everything. I can highly recommend this place and we are definitely going back. Oh, one last thing, there is plenty to do in town, All are family owned. It is in walking distance from the Inn and there is not one store that sells the same thing as another store, so you have a great time going...
Read moreI recently visited Harvey's at the Henderson Inn in downtown Hendersonville and it was a remarkable experience. Nestled just a block off Main Street, this charming spot is a real find. Let me tell you about the fish and chips - they're the best I've had outside of England! The fish had a perfect crispy coating, while inside it was flaky and tender. The chips? Just the right balance of crunchy and fluffy. The heart of Harvey's, however, lies with its owners, Michael and Jeanne Gilligan. Chef Michael, boasting 25 years in prestigious establishments like the Ritz Carlton and Michelin-starred restaurants, brings an extraordinary expertise to his cooking. His passion for cuisine is evident in every dish. Jeanne, managing the place, ensures everyone feels right at home. Her hospitality is warm and inviting, making the dining experience truly special. Although we didn't get a chance to check out the rooms, we met some hotel guests who shared that staying at the Henderson Inn has been their tradition for many years. They described it as a very special place, adding to the charm of our dining experience. I'm already recommending Harvey's to all my friends and visitors to Hendersonville. It's not just about the food, but the whole experience that makes it memorable, thanks to the...
