We celebrated a 70th birthday there last night and were beyond disappointed with the service. The food and atmosphere were great, but the experience was destroyed by the wait staff and manager. The first guests to arrive were the birthday girl and her 90 year old husband. They were told they would have to stand at the front and wait until the rest of the party arrived. The room and table were already set, there was no reason to ask this couple to wait. We waited for about 10 minutes once we got to the table and decided to go to the bar for our first round of drinks. When we returned, the waitress made it clear that she was not happy with us for doing so. The worst experience I have ever had with customer service was while all 16 of us tried to order. We had four kids with us and I had called several times prior to our arrival to ask questions and make sure we were set up ahead of time. I was informed there was no kids menu, but that the chef could do kids meals based on the menu on an individual basis. The lunch menu contained a burger that one of the kids wanted to order. The waitress told us they don't serve burgers at dinner and I explained to her the conversations I had had over the phone that they could do this, as well as other dishes, to accommodate the children in our party. She turned to me, told me I was wrong and went to get the manager. The manager came into our room, stood over me and literally shook her finger at me while bending over the table toward me, telling me that they only serve burgers at lunch and on Tuesday nights. She raised her voice and our entire party had never seen anything quite like it - she literally chastised me for asking for a hamburger for a child. My kids were stunned that she got in my face and my husband couldn't believe how confrontational she was upon entering the room and speaking with me. I did not want to ruin the evening by arguing with her so I just told her I must have misunderstood and we would find something else to feed the disappointed child. The manager left the room and our entire party sat with our mouths hanging open we were in such shock at the way she stormed in, told me the phone call I was referencing never happened, and created a scene in front of our entire party over a hamburger. Our bill was over $600.00 and this was the service we experienced all evening. The chef did a great job with the food, but the management and customer service were unacceptable and no one in our party will ever visit this...
Read moreI searched for about an hour and a half for a nice restaurant that had seating for 3 at a reasonable time and this kept popping up as a very good restaurant. I originally booked it for 7 on open table but then changed my mind because of the limited food menu. When I looked up restaurants in the area there aren't many upscale restaurants in the hendersonville area that have better reviews than Postero. Unfortunately when I went back they only had 9pm available. When I texted thru open table to try and seat me earlier they responded back within 10 min with I have seating at 830. That was super nice of them as I wasn't even ready for a response from anyone. So off the bat they get a star extra for service. We ordered bread for the table which turns on that it is like a Texas toast. Not the best and not the worst bread in the world. We otlrdered the steak and flounder. According to my gf the steak was one of the best she has ever gotten. The bok choy was not her favorite and she is a fan of bok choy. The flounder was good and perfectly cooked however we would of just rather chosen our sides. The polenta and tomato base was good but it had a spiciness that I wasn't quite ready for. I think the menu could have a warning on it mentioning this. Whatever edible leafy substance they put on the top tasted a bit moldy or musty for my liking. We also got the broccoli and cheese which was out of this world. There were no food specials here so make sure your party likes the menu before going. If I'm in the area I may check out to see if the menu has changed and I may try it again if it has. The place was a bit chilly for our tables liking which is a huge drawback since my mom is a little bit older and would of liked not to be cold during her dinner. The server was nice and parking was close by. All in all, its an adequate non pompous laid back restaurant. No need to dress up unless you feel the need. The food was good however it lacked choices and the ability to change how your dish comes. There is no salt and pepper on the table but our food was seasoned just fine. I'd say there are other choices in the area but if you like what you see on the menu I'd say...
