DO NOT USE OPTIMUM INTERNET SERVICE!!!! They will not stop harassing you! Their internet service is down constantly. After getting tired of not having internet service continuously and calling them asking why my internet was out again, I changed my internet provider. I had AutoPay set up with Optimum, so they got their full payment each and every month. I called them in January, AFTER my January payment had already been deducted and advised them that I had a new internet provider and to discontinue my service. I called 3 times, twice speaking to a "supervisor" trying to get them to stop my service. The only way that they would agree to discontinue my service was for me to pay for ANOTHER full month. I paid for internet service for February over the phone with my debit card, just to get rid of them, even though I'd already had a new internet provider since January. So at this point, I've paid 2 internet companies for internet service for January and now paid 2 companies for February. Since they black mailed me into paying for February, they are so greedy that they wanted MORE money and continued to harass me to pay for yet ANOTHER month, now wanting me to pay for March. When I refused to pay for March, they turned me over to a collection agency. Now the collection agency calls and sends me letters. I've provided them with proof of my payments by email and now also by mail, yet they continue to call. Since January, Optimum has continuously mailed me and called me wanting me back as a customer!!!! If I don't pay my bills and I owe you money, WHY DO YOU WANT ME BACK AS A CUSTOMER????? I finally told them that the internet provider that I have now actually provides internet service on a daily basis and I have internet EVERY day, not sporadically, and that I'm not interested in their "deals" that they keep calling and offering me and for them to stop calling me. If they had put as much time and energy into fixing the internet service as they have put into trying to get me back as a customer and harassing me for more money, I would still have been a customer. But this company will not stop harassing me, even though they've black mailed an extra months payments out of me, they still want MORE money! Installation Day Hassles: Initial technician CANCELED on the same day Replacement installers disregarded our requests of where the wiring should run and produced a messy wiring job right into the front of the house, drilling into our brick. Lack of professionalism: No shoe covers inside the house, FOUL LANGUAGE among the installers, and headphones with music was worn. The cable was left running across our yard and driveway ready to be tripped on. They said a different crew will come back to burry the line, but didn't know when. Left trash, cigs, and NAILS AND SCREWS IN YARD, which would've been deadly to our dogs if they swallowed it.
Service to Bury Line We called after TWO MONTHS of waiting. It seems like they totally forgot about it. The guy that came said the install was really badly done and they used the WRONG WIRE and it can't be buried. We tried to coordinate this redo and also requested them to reroute the messy wires on the front face of the house and they said it would take a couple weeks, but they will let us know. About a week later, while we were not home, we got a voicemail of the guy saying they are burying the line right now! NO NOTICE AT ALL! We raced home to find that he already dug into our yard without talking to us to find out were our electrical wires were. Internet was cut off during this, so it would've been nice to have notice a head of time so we can plan meetings around it!
Other They came to do some "maintenance" on the pole in front of our yard out of no where. No email, text alert, nothing! I was in an important meeting and internet got cut off. Mobile app is garbage. It keeps saying my internet is down, but it's been working for months now.
Conclusion: Optimum is absolute garbage! Stay away from...

Look at Litterally ANY other company. I have NEVER had a more unreliable company give me services that were sub par.
1 you will NEVER get the internet speeds you paid for. It's fiber so it's fast but not as fast as they claim you get.
If there is an outage they don't work weekends they will "claim" on their site your internet will be restored "soon" or in a specified timeframe but if it's on the weekend you can assume you won't get it back till end of day Monday.
They will not communicate with you. You can opt in to their messages and about 3 hours after an outage they will tell you there is infact an outage. They will tell you how long IF you are lucky. And when they don't fix it in the time they claimed they could? They will remove the information from their website about the time to fix it and not tell anyone that it's going to take longer than anticipated. They are a communications company and don't know how to communicate.
Customer service is not in English. Personally when I call to get assistance with my Internet so I can make sure everything is fine I like to be able to understand who I'm talking to. And I really like them to understand me when I talk to them in English. Optimum outsources. So if your looking for an American company this company partakes in anti American capitalism like most others.
To put the cherry on top. This "communications" company. Uses an AI bot to reapond to reviews here and on X or any other social media. You will most likely see one respond below mine or if to prove a point they don't respond to mine just go read some of the other reviews and you'll see it first hand.
