The Mountain Deli is a great place for a sandwich. My wife and I used to come to Hendersonville about once a month on a Saturday before the pandemic hit. We would hit the bakery and then visit the deli for lunch. Unfortunately, they are no longer open on the weekends, but the food has stayed the same. We had a free Friday in December and remembered that the Deli would be open, so we hopped in the car just to go get sandwiches. It’s a nice scenic drive up from near Gastonia to Hendersonville. We parked at the visitor center to walk up to the deli. It was cold out, and it was nice to get into the building. The wonderful smells immediately reminded me of previous visits. The staff seemed to be the same people we remembered seeing before. I ordered a Rueben on rye. My wife had roast beef on rye. We also had a side each of potato salad and cole slaw. This is definitely the place to get a Reuben. The meat was juicy and delicious. The sauerkraut was tangy with just enough bite. My wife enjoyed her roast beef. We ordered with all the fixings on the menu. The sides we also definitely worth it. We would highly recommend going here for meats and sandwiches.

Went for the Italian “hot” with all their recommended condiments (mayo, mustard and house sauce) as well as LTO, banana peppers and red pepper relish added. Bread was fresh, soft and warm. We split one Sammy there and took one for the road. Chose the Mac ‘n cheese and potato salad as our sides. Both were fine. personal preference had us adding a little pepper to both. Several booths and some window seating inside were available. Also had tables outside on the sidewalk. Had fountain drinks, beer and (I think) wine. Staff were quick and efficient. It was a busy and fast paced environment so not a lot of time for additional pleasantries. The to go wrapping was pretty leaky by the time we got to sandwich number 2 as they used deli paper and paper bag. But we had put it in a plastic bag ourselves anticipating this. This is now in our top 3 favorite Italians! Too bad it’s not closer to home

This is my favorite Restaurant in Hendersonville, no doubt about that. Everything that they make is incredible, though my usual go-to is the Turkey BLT on a Kaiser Roll. Every item is made to order. Every employee I've interacted with is incredibly friendly and does their job very well. The Inside is very clean, though the seats at the booths are a bit hard. There are some nice historical photos of downtown to decorate the inside. The are also a nice collection of tables outside to eat at. This place is mildly on the expensive side, with my sandwich and some lemonade costing me roughly $13.50, along with the tip. The price is very much worth it though, as the quality of the sandwiches is unmatched. When my friend and I visited at roughly 11:45 on a Tuesday and it was very quick to get our food, though I've been some other times where the wait is upwards of twenty minutes due to its popularity. Again, I am willing to wait that long because of how good the sandwiches are. The food quality is more than worth it. If you live or are visiting the Hendersonville area, I cannot recommend this place enough. You must stop here.

The wife & I decided to stop in for a quick bite, having never visited here before. First off, they have a good sized menu with plenty of choices but I don't think there's a bad choice on it. My Italian sub was delicious and my wife's egg salad on toasted Sourdough was tasty as well. The folks didn't rush us and let us take our time checking out the entire menu. After we ordered, we paid and then grabbed a booth. They brought our food out after it had been prepared. We always like to taste each other's food and we weren't disappointed at the flavors on either one. In fact, we're already looking forward to going back. (Probably several times and taking family too with the GF option available.) I'm not sure what my next option will be... maybe rare roast beef with horseradish sauce and whatever else they add?? I'm surprised my wife didn't get the turkey with cranberry sauce, but maybe next time for her. ? We need to make another trip to Hendersonville to return a parcel, so no better...
