I'm sitting at my dining room table eating the 2nd of 3 bags of popcorn I got at Mast General in Hendersonville. So here's how it happened. I was visiting friends and asked if we could please stop at the store to get popcorn on the way to Greenville/Spartanburg airport for my flight home. I also wanted to get some of the vintage candy cause the place is like a step back in time. We masked up, walked in and NO POPCORN. It's a first world problem so I just went about picking my vintage sweets. I saw a lady who worked there and asked if there was popcorn and she said they didn't make any and I replied "man what a shame cause that was one of the main reasons I came in" The lady then replied "well if you don't mind waiting a few minutes I'll make some for you" SCORE!!! I searched for my special candies and hovered over the machine to make sure I got a hot bag when it was done. Once it finished a second lady came up and started to bag it up. I told her I'd take 3 bags, 1 for now and 2 for the trip home. As she bagged them we chatted and I told her how excited I was to get the popcorn and that it was a main reason for me coming. Once she bagged them all she handed them too me and said "Merry Christmas, I'd like you to have them free of charge and enjoy your trip home" SCORE again for the store and customer service. I didn't feel the least bit odd about spending $130 on impulse buying of candy and vintage items. All the ladies were so nice as I was shopping and for me customer service means I will always spend more money. Mast of Hendersonville will always be a stop on my trip to visit friends in NC. I know there is one in Greenville for when I visit friends there, but my loyalty will be to the Hendersonville store so that's where I'll do my shopping with...
Read moreA specialty store chain done right. Although things are more on the pricey end (especially upstairs), you can find some good deals sometimes. I recently bought a $50 MSRP Gerber EDC knife from the upstairs for $33, brand new. There's also a good selection of gear upstairs in proportion to the size of the store. The staff is more than friendly, and are specialized in every aspect of the store. The downstairs left is filled with specialty clothing, but it's a little overpriced. The downstairs left is very popular to the children of Hendersonville, as it's filled with old-fashioned toys and candies that you won't find anywhere else in Hendersonville. It's also a popular stop for those at the nearby Hendersonville High School to come by and get a Cheerwine or a Mexican Coke. That reminds me, they have a good (but small) collection of old-fashioned and craft sodas here. Only place in Hendersonville where I can get a Blenheim''s Ginger Ale. In all seriousness though, it's worth...
Read moreI really like shopping at all of the Mast stores, I've never had a problem at any of them, but we recently had a weekend vacation in Hendersonville, NC and wanted to check out the store there along with many other downtown shops. We got downtown around 11:45 and found a park right in front of the store, we patiently waited in our car til they opened. At 11:57 Sarah opened the door and started to bring out the rocking chairs so we got out of our car and started walking toward the front door, as we approached the store, Sarah looked at us and said, " we still have a couple minutes before we open" she then turned around walked inside shut the door and locked it as we stood there. Yes Sarah, I too can read the clock and whatever it was that you needed to do for the 3 mins before someone else came back and opened the door, I hope it was worth the store losing out on a sale and...
